  1. I think we can score points on Kansas. We must not turn the ball over or have penalties. Kansas can win if our defense plays poorly. Our D-line is the key to the game. If we get pressure on Reesing and stop their run at the line of scrimmage, we win. If we cannot get pressure, then our secondary will get torched and then Kansas can hit us with the run as well. I expect a high scoring game.
  2. Welcome, Allen. Go Big Red!
  3. Latest from Husker Journal: NOVEMBER 3, 2008. PREP STAR ABRECUS MARTINEZ , WR, 6-3, 185, 4.5, RAYVILLE, LOUISIANA “Tulsa (offer) likes me a lot,” Martinez said. “I receive letters from Mississippi and Oregon. I don’t know if they will offer or not they need more film. I like Oregon a lot they pass the ball.” “I like Tulsa. They pass the ball a lot, out up big passing yards. I will visit them after the season.” Martinez added “I like how they (Nebraska) run their offense and the academics. I like the stadium and coaches there. Nebraska calls me once a week. Nebraska is my leader right now, I like Bo Pelini he’s a good coach.” Martinez said “I knew Bo when he was at LSU I kept in contact with him. I went to LSU’s summer camp last tear (2007) and met coach J P. I think Nebraska will be turned around.” Martinez said “If I like my visit to Nebraska, I’ll probably come home and think about it. I will be up there with one of my coaches.” Martinez added “I really don’t want to stay close to home, but not too far away. I will visit them (schools) after the season is over.” Martinez said “Coaches say I’m a physical receiver that fights for the ball.” Martinez said

    BCS

BCS is getting interesting. Two teams lost today that I was sort of glad to see go down because I didn't think they were deserving of being in the Final 2. Georgia has been overrated all year. And Texas is good but I don't think they are a national championship caliber team this year. Texas Tech is interesting...they have a very tough schedule remaining and I don't expect them to continue undefeated...if they do make it, then that will have been a fate like season with narrow escapes beating Nebraska and Texas. Sometimes teams like that just have magical runs and so far Texas Tech is doing that. I wish Penn St. would lose because I expect they will get whacked if they are in the final 2. I don't think Penn St. could beat Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, or Texas Tech. USC has the easiest road so if these teams knock each other out they may get there. Florida has a pretty easy road now also except for SEC championship which they can win. Oklahoma may not lose again this year and they may make it but they still have some tough games. I think Texas Tech will lose at some point. Alabama has to get through LSU still and the SEC championship. I am calling that they won't make it through...their signature win is vs. an overrated Georgia team IMO. I think the final 2 will come from Penn St., USC, Florida, and Oklahoma. I hope Penn St. is not there because it will be a blowout. IMO USC, Florida, and OU are the best teams in the country (right now anyway).
  5. A bit harsh but pretty accurate. Our safeties are the weakest link. No surprise Daniel and Bradford were able to move the ball on them. I am worried about upcoming with KU and Reesing...we better score a lot if we expect to win because if we get no pressure on Reesing we are in for a long day. Same will be true with Freeman if we can't pressure him. At this point I would like to see Thenarse on the field though. Castille seems to have digressed which is troublesome. I wish he could get it going but he has not looked good last few weeks. Lucky is misused and I would like Lucky and Helu to be in the game together to throw to Lucky or run with Helu. Why can't we run a formation with both Lucky and Helu in together? That screen pass we have been doing all season is not going to go anywhere against top teams. Sure, throw it in against Iowa St. and San Jose St. USC and Florida have the personnel to run this play...we have no business running this play against OU. If we want 1 or 2 yards at most, slam the FB in for a few plays. I had been waiting for someone to jump that play all year.
  6. I have thought also that Castille could be a good LB but I don't see it happening because: 1) Lucky is a senior and thus Castille will be #2 behind Helu next year. 2) Castille is a bruiser back that fills a need on the offense. Helu is not this type of back and Mendoza appears to be shifty, skatback type. 3) The depth behind him is not proven...I believe we have Fr. Okafor and Fr. Ward who have yet to see action unless I missed any snaps where they were in. Castille does need to fix the fumbling issue though or he simply may lose snaps to other IB's...but I sense the coaches like having him as a short yardage weapon...just remains to be seen if he will hold up his end of the bargain...if not we will have to go elsewhere and another player will get his snaps. I hope he can turn it around...he is an exciting, aggressive player that is a definite force when he holds onto the ball. The continued fumbling is a real downer so hope he turns it around.
  7. Agree this is way too early...Tressel is not going anywhere and Bo hasn't won anything yet here. I do like Bo's potential and I am tired of Tressel. But I don't think Tressel is going anywhere and not sure where he would land if forced out. I would say OSU would have to really implode to force Tressel out. He'll still beat Michigan this year and contend for years to come in the weak Big 10.
  8. I don't think we needed to go for 2. We lost it in OT. TT should have never got big yards on their first play in OT. We still had the game after TT's missed PAT. Ganz threw the INT. We are not mentally tough enough yet to win these types of games...sad but true.
  9. Swift has always been clutch. I think his name should have been Nate Clutch instead of Nate Swift. I'd really like to see Swift out there with a faster WR alongside him. Swift is a great possession guy but I don't like it when we play him and Peterson together...the speed in that duo is not going to scare teams like VA Tech and OU. Peterson is a nice possession guy too but I'd like to see Paul and/or Gilleylen as the other WR with Swift. Kudos to Swift for battling the whole game!
  10. Offense: Convert on 3rd down. Be able to run the ball on them and chew clock. Keep MU's offense off the field. Do not turn it over. Give them poor field position. Make all our kicks. Defense: Stop them on 3rd down. Keep Daniel on his back or at least pressure him consistently. Contain Maclin. Get at least 2 turnovers. Get a defensive score. Do not give up big yardage plays. There is a lot to get done this week, folks!
  11. 3rd down is where games are won and lost. We did not convert many and it only seemed to be late in the game that we stopped VT on 3rd down. We have to be able to convert 3rd downs on offense and get the stops on defense. Not getting a turnover tonight also hurt us. VT put the ball on the turf at least twice from what I recall and each time we could not recover it. The Ganz INT deep in our own territory killed us and was huge for VT getting the win. 3rd down's and turnovers...we need to win in these stats to contend with Mizzou, T Tech, and OU to even have a shot at these type of opponents.
  12. We need to use Lucky and Helu on the field together and start to spread some people out. Ganz to option more also...he is not very good in the pocket. Swift and Peterson are nice possession guys but we need speed theats at WR. Our offense has no identity. I do like that we are using the TE more as I have been calling for that for years. We need to run block better as that looks like a weak spot. We need to establish the run against Mizzou, T Tech, and OU or we are going to be in for ugly games. The defense will only be able to hold down teams like this for so long if at all.
  13. Spot on. I agree with the above...those were two huge plays in the game. But the late hit call was BS. You don't call that in that situation and Suh barely touched him. The ACC refs were awful and should be called out for their poor officiating. On this same drive, right before the TD the VT ball carrier went out of bounds at the 2...but the ball was placed at half yard mark and VT got the easy score on the next play. It was obvious...you could see the marks on the sideline where the VT ball carrier had gone out of bounds. When we converted on 4th down earlier in game, we obviously made it but we got a poor spot there as well from the ACC refs and they brought the chains out but we made it by a nose. I don't know why you use ACC refs in a game like this...just use neutral conference refs in a game like this. I am not saying we win the game if we get these calls but at least we have opportunity to win the game. I think that is why Bo was so PO'd because he knew the opportunity for the team to come back had been jobbed by the officials. He needs to just use as motivator that we can't let games come down to this...at that point in the game we needed every break to come back and win and the ACC refs were not going to let that happen. Again, use a neutral conference refs.
  14. Bingo. I think he could have been an early situational receiver with opportunity to earn more playing time. Now he is going into oblivion. Bad choice IMO. Hopefully this means we are into some better guys at WR as I am quite surprised he went Vandy over NU and KU.
  15. J.T. said his visit was awesome. I really like our chances and think he will be N.
  16. The more I read on this kid, the more I like his potential.
  17. Oku has revised his visit schedule as follows. Aug. 31 visits Louisvillle (vs. Kentucky) Sep. 6 visits Florida St. (vs. Western Carolina) Sep. 20 visits Tennessee (vs. Florida) Sep. 27 visits Nebraska (vs. Virginia Tech) I like that we get the last visit. Plans to then make decision in October. See link: http://newsok.com/david-okus-final-four/ar.../?tm=1218106280
  18. Nice pick-up. Welcome, DeAndre! IMO we need some CB's so great to see a solid recruit here.
