  1. Let me ask a couple of questions, don't flame me for asking honest questions: 1) Does Nebraska have structural issues that have led to our last four coaches being unsuccessful, I'm too far away from the program to know, but sure seems so - 2) Scott Frost is indeed a guy with a very bright future: a) Would NU present too much of a risk to his future earning potential given the last 17 or so years versus other schools?, b) Would a rising star coach demand more money coming to NU just because of the underlying risk of failure(you have to admit NU's Winning Tradition is broken)? In my own mind, if I was Frost, I'd think about my own future.....didn't the stadium boo him when he was playing....probably remembers that experience like it was yesterday....... GBR
  2. UCF has a great passing game......but they ran today against Navy.....was this a bid by Frost for the hearts and minds of the Nebraska fans?
  3. The Beavers have really nice fans. You will be treated like friends. So do the Huskies. Eugene on the other hand is where they send bad tempered Badger and Buffalo fans unfortunately. Be cool.
  4. Do you guys remember how far ahead of kickoff the Sirius web page had the games listed by channel? We will not frequently have internet, but I could get a buddy to text us when and on what channel the show schedule is available. I will call Sirius and see If I can buy a specific package for Husker/BTen games.
  5. I'll have to depend on Sirius XM this fall to hear our games for most of the season. Playing in the back country of Idaho - no phones & no radio Anyone have experience from the last couple of years - will Sirius frequently broadcast our games? Live or Delayed?
  6. The Ref's were skating on a lot of Oregon OL holding......I mean every play.
  7. GBR!!!!!! I was getting real nervous when Banker dialed back the aggressive defensive nature of the 1st half early second half. Can't go after Oregon at half fast.
  8. I think it is due to the fact Tommy is a Senior, a 3rd year starting QB and that one mistake in the redzone was flashbacks to what has always seemed to be a problem with him and his decision making. I think most of us would hope after 3 years of being a starting QB at the D-1 level at Nebraska those type of mental mistakes would be gone by now. It just makes it hard to trust him in big time situations. He is what he is. Yes, he needs to cut down those mistakes, but it was only 1 huge mistake. He more than made up for it with his play the rest of the game. Against Oregon one huge mistake can and will cost you the game. If you get into the redzone vs Oregon you need to score a TD. FGs and turnovers does not beat the Ducks. And my God almighty, Riley should know this since he faced Oregon and saw that machine from 45 miles away for years. Just hope the players realize it and can comprehend it. This is not the Oregon of two years ago or one year ago. Oregon had the opportunity to field some studs at QB that were true epic on field leaders. Those guys would make any team great. I don't think that level of play will be seen this Saturday. That's not saying they are not a good, they are a pretty darn good football team. NU also has some kids that can fly - I take Nebraska 32-21. GBR.
  9. Agree with the concept, but what also makes sense to me is that he gains recruiting contacts in Florida and snags a couple of seasoned assistants with SE recruiting skills. This may just be part of a plan. If so, people may need to reassess their feelings for our AD........ A lot of what Riley has been installing is right out of the Oregon playbook - we've just not had the QB to run it well. Riley and Frost have had some pretty good QB experiences to get us back to post season. GBR
  10. Another QB for Riley and Co to turn into sh#t. Really? I urge you to do some research - Riley has coached up some pretty salty QB's over the years. Where has TA not improved over the last year with Riley? Yes, even holding the ball.......
  11. We just went head-to-head with the number 3 team in the country. Three weeks ago we beat a top ten team. What the hell do you want?
  12. Goat, I agree you have to win to gain respect, but we have also been blown-out too many times on National TV by folks we should have played with even-up and had a Mad-Man shoveling bad behavior on National TV, poisoning our image out there for years. I sure hope we are seeing a turn around where the program regains National respect, but I also hope Husker Fans regain their respect for the brand. Those two fellers who "shall not be mentioned" hurt us to the bone. GBR.
  13. Holy cow.......? Give the kids a break - they played their hearts out this season - never gave up - unlike you! I'd love to be able to be at this game and I'd cheer my guts out. This is a team coming together - I think they will show us something that will make everyone proud to be a Husker! GBR
  14. Did anyone else have difficulty understanding the female play-by-play announcer for our game this morning? What she was saying was ok, I just had a hard time picking her voice out from the background. The other folks watching the game with me also had the same issue, so I don't think it was just my old ears...... I assume since the game was in HD, they were also broadcasting in dolby digital - I know it was stereo. May have just been my audio equipment decoding the signal poorly too.
  15. '77 or '78, in Lincoln, Nu kickoff to Okies - there was an epic freight train hits freight train collision - NU got called for unnecessary roughness - never figured that one out.
  16. We are "next year's secondary" from being undefeated. That is a fact. GBR
  17. No, really Guy - it's always ok to laugh at Texas!
  18. Their biggest mistake was to keep flinging it when they were up 33-10. If they would have just ground it out and burn the clock with Yearby, they probably would have won by a decent margin w/o all the drama. But you can count on Golden to keep your own team in the game, though. Miami's letdown and gaffs in the 2nd half were some of the more bizarre I have seen in some time. Reminded me of the old(or recent) Chicago Bears. Agreed. They were getting running yards, so why not slow the game down? Did Golden know his team would quit while ahead if he didn't try to keep the hammer down?
  19. Looks to me like Pellini left us with the cupboard pretty empty - we don't have the horses to run with a fast team (read this defensive backs) - reminds me of changes Osborne went through to compete in the top level. I see some big improvements in players who languished under the previous system. I did see some players on defense quit following the ball - quit running - like the Cosgrove teams...THAT had me worried.
  20. Nine wins and then totally fall apart, embarrass the team for three? The way we failed told more about us than the way we won under Pellini.
  21. Where can a guy purchase a DVD of the 96 Fiesta Bowl with this picture quality of the full game? - my tape is getting pretty well used......
  22. Gross. I hate the typical NFL offense. True, me and you could never be friends after reading that. I LOVE the zone read, you can run it so many different ways. Understanding that is when the spread/zone read gets fun. For me anyway. Second bolded (edit): It's not about having RB's to tote the job. Having a QB being able to run the ball gives you a numbers advantage when a play is executed perfectly. Most plays are designed to give the ball carrier a one on one with an unblocked corner/safety. When using the QB as the ball carrier, for example, on QB Iso, the tailback becomes the lead blocker etc... I could talk scheme for days but I won't bore you with that. Fullbacks make great lead blockers. I formation all day long. Are you just purposely not understanding what he's saying? In a typical I formation when the FB is the lead blocker for the RB, there is an inherent numbers disadvantage for the offense because the QB does nothing besides hand the ball off. In the zone read, the QB acts as the RB, allowing for more overall blockers and an easier way to get a numbers advantage. No. I get what he's saying. Its not a complicating theory. f#*k, when I come to this place anymore, all I wanna do is punch somebody in their f'ing mouth. I completly agree. Everytime I saw the QB in a shotgun set in the redzone. I wanted to beat Pelini & Becks head into a wall. Why not let your RB run down hill with a lead blocker. A team that can control the clock & the run game will win a lot of football games. I know what you mean but didn't NU have pretty solid rushing stats for the season? Not in the games that mattered........we got shut down.
  23. The "C" word? No one with any class uses the "C" word anywhere, anytime. Even on his way out he tries to damage the brand to the greatest degree possible. Darn.
  24. Or hopefully Ed Orgeron Not Orgeron. The guy is not cool. Here's a quote from a USC player: In order to show up on time for a required statistics course one semester, he says he had to leave spring practice twenty minutes early, once a week. His defensive line coach, Ed Orgeron, wasn’t happy. You motherf—-r, DeMars remembers Orgeron, who went on to become head coach at Ole Miss from 2005 to 2007, and is now back at USC as assistant head coach, shouting at him. “He M-F’d me all over the place,” says DeMars. “He made me feel like a bad person for going to class.” DeMars says playing for USC was a “dream come true.” But it came at a cost. “You get brainwashed by your coaches,” says DeMars. “You don’t want to let anyone down.” According to DeMars, in practice Orgeron would unleash verbal assaults on him, calling him every curse in the book. “He would push his brow into my head while he was screaming at me with his fist balled up,” says DeMars. “How am I not supposed to think this is a coach yelling at me and not someone trying to fight me?” http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2013/06/10/ex-usc-football-player-how-my-coach-called-me-a-m-r-for-going-to-class/ This is the character of a jerk. I also remember there being an assault charge, or something strange against Orgeron. Leave him be. Go to Wikipedia to read about past issues with the law
