  1. Welcome, Hokieluv. Give us a report on the developments in Hokieland. Just as well get a conversation going into next season.
  2. Read on another site that the NU coaches were trying to help the kid with placement. Frank at Ohio said he didn't have a place for him. Last I knew CU coach, Hawkins, was short several recruits.
  3. Dan Hawkins and the crew at CU will be getting all over this. If they haven't already.
  4. We should be due for a couple of scholarship people lower on the depth chart to transfer out to a smaller program for playing time.
  5. University of Nebraska wrestling alumnus, Jason High, was on the card for Saturday nights ppv Affliction mma fights in California. His was a nontelevised swing-fight after the main event. He experienced his first mma loss to IFL veteran, Jay Hieron. Jason High was paid $10,000 for his efforts. Jason is a current Victory Fighting Championship(Council Bluffs) belt holder. He had relocated to Vegas and then California, to further his career in mma. Jason's web site and blog: http://www.highfighter.com/blog.php Jason was recruited by NU as a wrestler out of Blue Springs (Kansas City area), Mo. The LJS did a story on Lincoln area mma fighters a couple years ago featuring Nebraska native and current VFC middleweight champion, Darin Brudigan. Jason High was shown a bit in some video accompanying that feature working out with my son. I no longer can find it in the LJS archives.
  6. Your questions answered about Joe Ganz. He's done with football at NU now. So he can freely speak out a little more. Recorded yesterday, 15 January, during a live radio interview on 1620 the Zone: http://1620thezone.com/pages/727732.php Listen to 4 separate parts. In one of these he tells you how he sees 2007 between him and Sam.
  7. Saw a snippet of an interview with Compton several days ago. Says he "Can't wait" to play in game action for Bo! The kid is chomping at the bit. What a hell of a difference. After the previous year's('07) season, the defense just wanted to slink off quietly and anonymously. This year, they would like to start a season again next week. Go figure.
  8. Rapture sighting of Tim Tebow. From Huskerspot.com Tebow to skip senior season Posted by Tom on January 9, 2009 at 7:55pm in Husker Football Add as Friend View Discussions Tebow Skips Senior Season, Ascends Directly Into Heaven MIAMI (SP) -- Shortly after leading the Florida Gators to the Fed EX BCS presented by FOX national championship with a 24-14 win over Oklahoma, junior quarterback Tim Tebow announced that he would skip his senior season and ascend directly into heaven.

Tebow entered the press room to wild applause. A reporter for a 24-
hour cable sports network burst into tears when the 2007 Heisman
winner entered the room. Another threw a pair of boxer shorts on the
podium. Tebow smiled at the gesture and several sports reporters
fainted.

"Sorry I'm late," Tebow began. "There was a six-year-old boy with
cancer in row 54 and I had to make my way through the crowd to heal
him." "I want to start by saying that playing quarterback for the University of Florida, winning two national championships, has been a great honor. There has been some speculation about my future and I want to clear that up right now," he continued. "Don't go, Tim!" a reporter shouted from the back of the room. "After much consideration, I have decided to skip my senior season at the University of Florida and ascend directly into Heaven," Tebow announced. Upon making the announcement, Tebow was bathed in a blinding white light and vanished. In response to the news, ESPN announced they will have a month-long tribute to Tebow. ESPN2 will now be known as ESPN-TEBOW and will feature Tebow highlights (including home videos of Tebow's childhood), re-airings of past interviews, Tebow-centric analysis by ESPN air personalities, a Tebow quiz show and a reality show to find the "most Tebow-like" person in America. "He wasn't just the greatest player in college football history," said a college football writer at the press conference, tears streaming down his face. "He might have been the greatest person to ever walk on earth."
  9. herbie4pres, everybody above isn't offtrack or pulling shenanigans. They're just wanting a clarification on your statement in the quote above where you say you "read(rear?) ended him". Do you mean that you ran into the back of his vehicle with yours? Or what? 'read' or 'rear'.
  10. Completely agree. I am glad Bo and staff are doing this at NU as it is essential to getting our program back to the very elite. These kids that can't take the competition...well, let them go play at places like... Kansas. And.....ditto to the above once again. We read comments all the time from forum participants wondering and aghast about how any top level talent would even think of going to a USC with all the resident talent already on hand. And the threat that they are obviously going to offer to more of the same and receive such commits every year. No doubt those types of players believe that they will be the top dog at their position at some point. They aren't scared of being challenged at their position. They are the type that are confident in their superior ability. And the top programs get those types coming year after year regardless of the existing depth and threat of more.
  11. I've read stories in past years of superbowl rings being pawned and sold also. Some people's lives take a turn into hard times. Sometimes sh#t just happens(or doesn't). I can relate.
  12. I'd guess they already have and will continue to receive film on HS juniors from some of the Florida HS coaches they networked with while in Jacksonville.
  13. Clemson's speed was evident the first half on defense. They were very disruptive on defense. Also, their speedsters on offense were scary quick. What specifically did our coaches do to negate their effectiveness in both areas as the game wore on?
  14. If you like stats and want a warm fuzzy feeling: In the Gator Bowl, Witt's rushing total was 4 yards. Equal to the net rushing yards of all Clemson's rushing offense for the entire game. Just having some fun here.
  15. Don't be discouraged. If it's a passion, keep working.
  16. To my knowledge, Hagg was the only player having his blackshirt taken from him late in the season. After his late game performance, I'm suspecting he re-received it symbolically post-game? But, everybody starts all over earning them again next season. And, as Martha Stewart would say, "that is a good thing." Also, it was said the offense would have to carry the D this season. Well, in this bowl game the D saved the O's a$$. Big time! (And Alex Henery and his walk-on longsnapper, holder cohorts)
  17. Okay, dammit. Read this and go to the link: "Green arrives in a little more than a week. Will the student body let him get through a class with a stare and a whisper? Will the media back off and let the kid grow into his role, whatever it may be? Since newspapers are no longer interested in myths that go longer than 20 inches – and radio talk shows mostly like to boil every programmed hour down to insipid paper-or-plastic-pick-a-bag-or-die! debates – can Cody Green go four months on campus without getting the equivalent of the “Superman” theme? I mean, ask yourself: Did that treatment do Marlon Lucky any good? Bobby Newcombe? Harrison Beck? Sam “ASU” Keller? Joe “I read Sun Tzu” Dailey? Curt “I missed prom for this” Dukes? Any of them? How’d it go for Thunder Collins? Swimmingly." http://nebraska.statepaper.com/vnews/displ...2/49504e765b56d
  18. No. It's all or none. This is a team, not individuals. ? Hagg's was taken away a few weeks back. But I think he may have redeemed himself today.
  19. Thankyou to all the guys on the meat squad. Without you this team doesn't get good practice reps and development. Thankyou to all walk-ons. Thankyou for paying your own way and contributing to the program at Nebraska. To you walk-ons that have had playing time: Koehler, Thorell, Wortman, O-Hanlon, May, Holt, Henery(sure I've missed some) Congratulations. I've affectionately called all the D-back walk-ons Coach Pelini has utilized as his 'duct-taped together d-squad'. You guys have had to be intelligent in the 'get it' department to be utilized and contribute to a 9 win season. I don't think there is any team in the nation or in recent Husker history that has had this many walk-ons contribute to such a successful season on the playing field. This is an untold story than nobody(fans, media, etc.) has paid enough attention to. Damn, I love you!
  20. His new DC is Vic Koenning. Dabo Swinney just fired him a few weeks ago from Clemson. Koenning is a KSU alumnus and originally from Oklahoma(I think).
  21. Past Husker lineman, Russ Hochstein, is being played at fullback some this year. I saw him lead blocking on TV, Sunday. Suh can run a little bit. Past Clemson player, 'Fridge' Perry, was used by the Chicago Bears near the goal line. On another note, Lucky's turf toe is acting up again. Don't know if that will affect seeing any of the joker package or not. But as we all know, well executed traditional plays will likely be what determines the outcome.
  22. How do you see Suh being used offensively in this game? (other than running with an interception on defense) Same as we've seen in the past? Anything different?
  23. She really knows how to hurt a guy, doesn't she?
  24. The often repeated mantra coming from the Clemson sites in recent weeks has been about Clemson's superior team speed. They weren't ranked in the preseason top 10 based on no talent. What's your take on Clemson having more speed than that seen in the Big12? Fact or illusion? Do athletes from the southeast have more game speed than those from Texas or California? Doesn't make sense to me. They speak of their overall defensive speed and the speed of RB Spiller and receiver Ford. Sounds like Spiller is their version of our Helu.
