Yes, it really is.. and it is the fault of the mainstream media (and the american public when you get right down to it). Everything these days are sound-bytes and quotes and almost always out of context. What someone means to say is not important anymore. Yet some fans wonder why he doesn't like to talk to media.

He is in high school. Let's at least let him get to college and play a few snaps before lumping all kinds of expectations on him.

I would guess that it would depend on the player and how they think. If they see what is going on here and think that they have a chance at early playing time, then yes this would be good. Of course the opposite is true and they could look at the situation and think that they would rather play for a team that can win now. Short answer: yes and no, it all depends on the mind-set of the person that is being recruited to play.

We seemed to move the ball well in our 2 min drill. Maybe we should go no-huddle.

It's a reflection of a society that loves to reward mediocrity in an effort to not hurt the feelings of those that don't quite measure up. At the very least could they make it so that only teams with a winning record get a bowl game birth....geez...

Indeed. With all of the negativity flying around, you'd think that the previous coaching staff was still employeed here.

Nice post. I wonder if the bye week hurt more than helped. Granted the last team we played was NMST, but motivation from a previous win is better than none at all.

It would be great if the coaches could somehow bottle up the intensity that has been displayed at the end of the games and give it to the team for the first half. Just looked like they were totally flat to start the game.

That is a big part of why I never joined up over there. It seemed as though the older posters would jump all over something they didn't agree with and then beat it to death then kick in a persons face the next time they would post. Pretty sad. Wow, way to put a few words in my mouth. I don't ever recall saying West O didn't have "seedy" elements or that the area this took place was the ghetto, I was just commenting on my old neighborhood. It is unfortunate that this happened so close your home and family, nothing shatters the illusion of security quite like an event like this. If you feel the need to move your family, I sure as heck won't judge you for it. All it took for me was the police finding the neighbors kid, with a gaping hole in his head, on the street just to the north of my old house. Probably 4 blocks from yours. But he wasn't "allegedly" shot by a former Husker, nor was he important enough to make the news. You may not agree with what I've said on this, but to say that this area is just like 75% of Omaha is not acurate.

Didn't Nebraska used to have jersey's with black in 'em? Or was that just basketball? Why do topics like this almost always end up with, "we should put black in our uniforms" or "we should come up with a black jersey like 'school x'" no...just no. And for special occassions NU should pound opposing teams into the ground with a big black cleat.

North of Blondo and east of 72nd is starting to get pretty seedy. North of Ames is just a hellhole to live in. That area isn't anymore "seedy" then the rest of Omaha. Northeast around Ames is bad but the area that this happened in isn't any worse then 75% of the City. Hey, thanks for the info. Having lived near the area the shooting took place I think I'll stick with my assessment.
