  1. It just quotes the OWH article...nothing new....headline is "You should be ashamed to accept that trophy!"
  2. Even if you think adding one second back to the clock was the wrong call, yelling "You should be ashamed to accept that trophy" at Texas is completely unacceptable and unsportsmanlike. Go after the officials, not the opposing players. If the roles were reversed and Mack Brown were yelling something like that everyone on here would be talking about how trashy and classless he is.
  3. Lee is not a good quarterback. I see nothing wrong with saying it and it's not "attacking a kid on the internet."
  4. The flaw in this argument: "The human voters could reward one-loss Florida -- with just one loss to the No. 1 team in the nation on its resume -- the nod over an unbeaten Horned Frogs squad out of the Mountain West." They would not. No human voter wants to see an Alabama-Florida rematch. TCU would be ranked #2 over Florida et al by a healthy margin. I know everyone hates the BCS, and a playoff would probably be better, but most of the time it still works. It will this year.
  5. I would get angry at Cowherd, but I'm certain that I've said "Our offense is an embarrassment," or some variation of that phrase, at least 50 times this season. I dislike Cowherd for a variety of reasons, but this isn't one of them.
  6. It's frustrating to watch, but with the kind of team we have, conservative play-calling gives us the best chance to win....that may not be true against a team like Texas, but I really think it has been true most of the season... even against Texas...trying to picture what a close game or even Nebraska win might look like, I can't picture it involving Lee throwing for 200+ yds and several TDs...we take those kinds of chances on 3rd and long and I see Earl Thomas racking up INTs and Texas turning them into points I think a close game looks like us scoring a couple defensive and/or special teams scores, holding Texas to FGs, and having a few successful drives running the football and the clock... keeping in mind of course that if the score starts to get away 10-14+ points, all bets are off and we have to take some chances on offense
  7. They got bailed out by the sideline ref....that RB definitely didn't get to the sideline during the final drive of Q4... ...although I also thought the helmet to helmet call on the Ark TD drive was bad too, you could see on the replay that was mostly shoulder-to-shoulder contact, it was just really hard...so I guess it all evens out.....
  8. And remember that OU and VT winning will help our computer rankings...FAU and Ark St both won too, but I don't think wins over N Texas and W Kentucky really make any difference
  9. The hit on Reesing was easily out of line and uncalled for. The hit in the OU game was completely clean and Asante stopped celebrating as soon as he realized the guy was hurt; I have no problem with anything he did in that game. I thought the late hit call against Colorado was the right call, but I don't think it was an intentional cheap shot where he was trying to hurt someone. The ejection talk was absolutely ridiculous.
  10. Is my understanding correct that the Cotton gets to pick from the Big 12 before the Holiday? I'm beginning to wonder since so many people seem to think the Holiday is the better bowl....
  11. And what would he do once he gets there? Stand out on the street? Have his own personal Heisman ceremony at another location?
  12. It was frustrating, but given how Reesing was throwing in the first half, I don't blame Carl for deciding to drop more guys into coverage, it made sense based on how the game was going but didn't work out

    WOW

It was reminiscent of the VT game in which we placed more importance on containing the pocket to keep Tyrod Taylor from getting loose than we did on getting to the passer....it worked better in the VT game....
  14. He wasn't claiming it was a bad call, his point was that without a colossally moronic play by a KU defender we most likely lose.
  15. I like that Bo's passionate, but the question that no one is addressing is whether his sideline outbursts actually make us play any better. I don't think they do. Our assistant coaches are adults, they shouldn't need a screaming HC to get their units playing full throttle. Furthermore, I don't think berating position coaches in the middle of a game does anything to help team morale, if anything it does the opposite.
  16. Different sport, but I thought the west coast really did get boned in the pre-season NCAA BB rankings...
  17. I find it funny that the same folks who repeatedly complain about how ESPN doesn't give our team credit are the folks who complain the loudest about how our team isn't any good... not referring to anyone in particular on this board, just a general impression I get from the Husker fan community...
  18. Did you follow the forum this past week? "Meltdown" is exactly what happened on this board this past week. Really? I saw a lot of open discussion about what went wrong and intelligent/logical thoughts on how to fix it. Guess that's "melting down" in koolaid land. If you call the urinary olympics that persisted following the loss, then I guess that's "open discussion" in your mind. But when people claim coaches should be fired, players benched, complaining about fans, and blah blah blah, it's a meltdown. This from the guy who has a quote ranting about how ridiculous the rules of rock paper scissors is... Well they are pretty ridiculous. I don't get how paper beats rock either. STOP MELTING DOWN!!!! Well personally I think we should find the O-Coordinator who called the paper move and FIRE HIM!@!!!!!!!!! I mean why doesn't he just go with rock all the time? I know that the opponent may use the Paper D, but come on we all know that if you use that rock right you can beat any defense! It shouldn't matter how much paper is covering your rock! Rock goes right through paper
  19. For less than $12....exquisite. I'll be picking up a couple more bottles tomorrow after work. Working on a FREI BROTHERS Zinfandel right now that was $15 at the 132 & Dodge Hy-Vee. Awesome. The 156th & Maple Hy-Vee is sold out of this stuff. I'll be making a stop here as well tomorrow. Thanks for asking. What whites do you like? I'm currently working through several bottles of Clos du Bois Sauvignon blanc and some Kendall Jackson Pinot Grigio that I picked up at WalMart for $7. I can't figure that price - the Kendall Jackson is usually around $17. But I'm not complaining. I like most whites, really. I'm kind of a wine slut - I'll drink about anything, except sweet stuff, and I don't like Malbec at all. Am I on the right message board???
  20. I suspected as much Saturday....it was like someone flipped a switch in the second half...he couldn't even make simple throws....if he played the whole second half we can at least be optimistic that it can't be too serious and he should make it back soon, or not have to miss any games at all.....and we're fortunate to have UL-L and an off week coming up, if he is hurt...
  21. That's because the guy who breaks the plane is usually a RB who has already established possession.....we're talking about a receiver who is in the process of making a catch.....different rules apply
  22. Can we please get over this... You're quoting the incorrect rule....the dead ball rule applies to players who have already established possession with the football and does not apply to players who leave their feet and are in the process of making a catch when they hit the ground....look at rule 2-2-7 The Definition of a Catch....the player has to maintain control all the way to the ground, not just when the knees hit....
  23. Nah, you're right....returning to the ground means the entire act of falling, not just that first knee...
  24. That would depend. If the receiver had caught the ball and established himself firmly inbounds and then lost the ball when he was tackled out of bounds it would be complete. BUT, if he falls to the ground in the act of catching and loses control of the ball it is incomplete.
  25. You're not citing the appropriate rule In the rule 2-2-7 definition of a catch: e. Loss of ball simultaneous to returning to the ground is not a catch, interception or recovery and the pertinent Approve Ruling: XI. Airborne receiver A85 grasps a forward pass and in the process of going to the ground, first contacts the ground with his left foot as he falls to the ground inbounds. Immediately upon A85 hitting the ground, the ball comes loose and touches the ground. RULING: Incomplete pass. An airborne receiver must maintain control of the ball while going to the ground in the process of completing a catch. The question is whether his knee hitting the ground inbounds negates the need to maintain control of the ball as the rest of his body hits the ground. You've cited the rule regarding when a live ball becomes dead; just because the ball is no longer "live" at the instant when that first knee contacts the ground doesn't mean that whatever happens thereafter is irrelevant. The ball being "dead" at that point simply means he cannot get up and run if he hasn't been touched nor can he can't be stripped of it for a fumble. He still needs to maintain continuous possession as he the rest of the body falls for it to be ruled a catch. Incomplete pass was the correct call.
