  1. Glad to hear he has learned from his mistakes. We all make them and some of us.....well....we learn from them. Interesting thought comes to mind......all the negativity on this board as to why he was suspended. Like no of you all made mistakes. Some of the accusations were flat out ignorant. Next time, be a little bit understanding about situations and let the facts come out. Some of you sounded like CU fans. Back off.
  2. Major pub for the Cornhuskers! Good to see some positive coming from ESPN.
  3. THe guy in the adidas jacket is Terry Rodgers. Johnny's son. He played at NU early 90's
  4. Gotta be honest here. I know we all are getting anxious about the upcoming season. But damn, posting someone's health condition is a little over the top. We are talking about 18-20 year old kids. Some of you guys are pathetic. I for one would have a problem discussing someone's blood pressure and other health reasons as a contributor for leaving the program. to be quite honest, it's really none of our business why they leave. Good grief.
  5. Nope. Can't stand Colorado. They are always looking to take a dig at NU. Jealousy? Envy? who knows and who cares. McCartney started this crap. They want to be like NU so bad that can't stand it. As far as I am concern, this will never be a rivalry. They needed a game to hang their hats on, and McCartney and his crew circled this game. Who cares.
  6. Although I am not a fan of Cosgrove, threatening is family is way out of line. Whoever did that was a classless, sob. No need to threaten a man's family. Get a life. As for his defense MY GOD!!! We became soft, and I tell you what.....I can't get that Tech game in Lubbock out of my head. Rush 3, drop 8. I still have nightmares. Him and Callahan ruined the program. Question for the room... I know it may have already been discussed, but I have been out for a while. But, I did watch lucky in the shrine game. I was shocked at how he looked. Explosive, fast, etc. Was he happy at Nebraska? Did we misuse his talents? I mean, constant substitution and this offense was a little fancy. Maybe we need to get back to pounding the ball. No fancy schmancy shifting during the shrine game. They just lined up and played ball. Your thoughts please......
  7. http://www.dallasnews.com/ Plano is a traditional powerhouse down here in the great State of Texas! Very surprised we landed this guy. GBR!!!
  8. USC don't do that! They had 220-230 safeties, 260 and 255 LBs and had teh best defense in the nation! You are right to mention that. But you can't compare apples and oranges. They have tremendous athletes and we are struggling with that right now. So why not make minor adjustments until we get those 230 pound safeties?? By the way, Taylor Mays is a freak of nature. 6'3, running a 4.2, is absurd. He's a beast!
  9. USC don't do that! They had 220-230 safeties, 260 and 255 LBs and had teh best defense in the nation! SC has the athletes. I was merely suggesting a move similar to the 90's to help bring much needed speed. You can't compare our defense with SC. Apples and oranges my friend. But to have a 6'3 230 pound safety, running a 4.2 (Mays), is like finding the holy grail.

  11. I am very happy, for selfish reasons, that Suh is coming back for his senior year. I remember how people were dogging him earlier in the year (i.e. personal fouls) against Vtech. He really came on strong this year. In my opinion, with Suh, Pierre Allen and turner back, we should have a solid D-line. In fact, should be the strongest area on our team. I remember the 50 front we used to run. Then, everyone said we upgraded the speed, thus 93, 94, 95 teams were awesome. We should have had the triple crown, but I digress. We moved personnel around and BAM!!! Moved safeties to outside backers, to the ends and it was GAME OVER. I see alot of teams using hybrid types. Safeties/Backers to help with speed at the second level. If dillard stays healthy, big concern of mine, what do you all think about moving Asante to OLB?? Just a thought. I don't know too much about the up and coming guys. But, Asante can hit and has speed to get to the outside. He can definitely cover rb's coming out the backfield. If we can produce unbelievable pressure, that would take the heat off the secondary. Which to me, is a weak area. We do have West and some other guys, but relentless pursuit and blitzes can negate any offense. Bo has the know how to do it. Asante could be another Terrel Farley or Jamel Williams. I just see our defense being huge next year. To go from 100 or so in the country to 60th or so, is a big jump in one year. I did see the progress all year. Hell, clemson had a lot of speed, and we got it done. Big question mark on offense. With that being said. I see a heavy dose of running. We need to run straight at people. Eliminate the stretch run and have those big ol boys up front lean on some folks. We need a breakway running back also. I thought helu was fast, until I saw the Iowa State game. Looked like he needed to unhook the plow. Castille is a bruiser, but speedburner, don't know. By the way, do we have a fullback??? It would be nice to see a fullback again. Create a lead blocker and watch what happens. No more fancy shift right and shift left, just line up and hit someone. Overall, very satisfied with the team this year. Effort was there. They got it going later in the season. there will be some struggles. But dammit, I can't let it go. We beat Ttech and Vtech, we are looking at a damn good season. Oh by the way, we lost Turner, Dillard and Glenn. Coulda, shoulda, woulda!!!!!! I appreciate any feedback. This board has been good therapy for me. Especially after Callahan. One more thing....don't worry about ESPN and all the so called experts. We start winning, shutting people down, the respect will come. Right now, the entire Big 12 is under assault. Mount up boys!!! Out!
  12. When a player begins to essentially pay for any of our jobs, then we can discuss this. We as fans pour money into a program so guys like Niles can have a free education. Not only that, but travel to all parts of the country, get free gear, perks and everything else that comes with being an athlete. Do you go to a game? Do you buy Nebraska merchandise? Do you watch on TV? If you do, then you are responsible for any of these guys having the opportunity they do. I mean, if you do not want to be talked about, do not play. Just like when you play well, it will be good. But when you play bad, you get this as well. It's part of the territory. But I fully expect you to come back and jump up someones rear when something good is said as well. Or are we only allowed to point out the good and never the bad? Is that how this whole being a "fan" works? There's a vast difference between pointing out bad plays, and saying this kid sucks, pull his scholarship, and calling someone "not a fan" because they don't feel the need to be negative about someone who has more talent and ability then they could ever dream of. Going by your theory, if and/or when you have kids, and my tax money and admission pays for his little league game I should be able to point out how much he sucks and it's okay? Should I scream from the stands and say he should be benched? These kids for the most part are out there trying to work their butts off so drunk, washed up middle aged men can have something to cheer for. Also, somehow spending some money on a ticket or shirt gives them the right to think they are somehow entitled to be a complete prick about how a kid plays. Then they'll come on the message board and talk crap about it, when in real life if they ran into the kid they'd stutter and ask for an autograph or picture and then tell everyone about how they met him AMEN!!!!
  13. This "spreading of the wealth" - (obamaism), has been going on for years. It was this way during the Big 8. I personally didn't like the fact the sub-par teams got a piece of the pie. But what do I know. That is why being an independent like Notre Dame was so unique. They kept the entire pot. Bet they wish they were part of some conference now....huh?
  14. Look around the board, some folks said he should be B12 COY, national COY. To say Ohio State is a huge step up is ridiculous. In terms of what. If anything equal footing. Oh my bad, you are looking at the past 5-6 years. Before Tressel Ohio State used to get their butts handed to them. Don't be a wise A@@! Clone and poke the bear! OSU a step up, yea right. Your husker pass has been revoked....gimme your stripes!!

    Buffalo!

I would like to send out a huge Congrats to Turner Gill!!!!!!!! Not only did he turn around a pathetic program, he did it with class. I watched the game and afterwards, he was overwhelmed with emotion. I got a little choked up when I saw the AD give him a big hug after the game. That's what it's all about ladies and gentlemen. And to think...many said he wasn't "ready" to be a headcoach. Or, he needs "more experience". To all the naysayers, take a look at the record. First bowl game in 50 years!!! We let him get away. Congrats Coach Gill!
  16. ok.....here is my two cents High school played with Texas all star game..... Tommy Maddox Jessie Armstead and about 5 10 other guys who went D-1 played against kevin williams tracy saul barron davis and about 20 guys who went D-1
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3722908 I am very confused. At what point did Snyder almost win the National Championship??? This guy made a living off scheduling Indiana State and thrashing them. He gets a couple recruits and BAMMMMM, he is a savior? Wow. He is a heckuva coach and many top coaches learned under him. But to say K-state was a National Championship contender is hilarious. Give me a break.
  18. I personally hope he leaves. And maybe it's for selfish reasons. The earlier post, "is he interviewing because he is black" is a moronic statement. But I digress. I have always felt we needed to get some coaches who wanted to be here. Not use this program as a stepping stone. I have always felt with the previous staff, that they would all bolt to bigger and better things. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not nebraska. How many times did you hear of Ozzy's assistants, or even Solich's going for greener pastures? My thought is, you have to have stability in College football right now and it starts with the coaching staff. Stoops has done a helluva job coaching even though his assistants leave year after year. I just think having coaches around for a long time solidified our program amongst the elite. Anyways, Coach Brown has done a damn good job coaching receivers over the years. He can handle it. Just my thoughts. One last thing.....if you think Watson is going to stay around much longer....think again.
  19. In all reality, I hope he does read through this thread. Then, maybe he will come forth with the explanation as to why he was suspended indefinitely. Nothing good ever comes of trying to keep secrets. Come forth with your mistake, then you won't have everyone speculating. Honestly, "keeping it in house" means no one really has to clear up anything. It's not his job to satisfy folks thirsty tastebuds for gossip. Let it go already. No one is keeping secrets. Quite frankly, it's none of our business.
  20. Didn't Cody and Bo get into it on the sidelines during the Kansas game? For some reason I remember thinking Glenn was being a little more animated than he should have. Maybe some spill over. But, keep it in house. Sounds good to me. But it's a loss no matter how you look at it. The guy was one of the fastest lb's we had. Plus dillard being out. This is a tough loss. In BO I Trust to do the right thing!!
  21. Ahh....the great harrison Beck. He was supposed to be the second coming of Christ. Didn't he tell the coaching staff not to recruit any other qb's??? Could have been a rumor. I watched a couple of plays this year while he was at NC State. He still looks terrible. This one might go down as one of the biggest busts ever.
  22. real simple, use them or lose them. thousands of fans are out there willing to snatch them up. It's funny listening to college kids bitch and moan about how difficult college is. Wait until graduation. That's when it's going to hit the fan boys and girls. I just got my tax bill and swallowed my tongue! Gotta pick up cans for my kids tuition! Go figure GBR!
  23. Gotta be honest. Watching our offense makes me sick. Bubble screens, misdirection.....do we have any fullbacks???? I really think we need to utilize the fullback more instead of double tights. Lucky needs one additional block to bust loose. Anyway, that's why I am staring at a screen and not scripting plays. I don't like Watson's offense. I just don't. I am old school and I like to pound the ball and mix in some passing. Offense seems too complicated. Never liked Gilmore either (maybe because of the callahan relationship). I felt after yesterday's game that watson could be gone. Just had an eerie feeling. Friggin bubble screens!!!! I posted before the OU game that we would have a DB jump the route. And look what happened! We aren't fast enough to run that crap. And will someone please beat the crap outta TECH!!!!
  24. Some of you guys wear me out!!! If you look over the years at the blackshirts d, they had a run 93-95, where they absolutely wore people out. I hope you all aren't comparing this team to those teams. I remember hearing how nebraska d was too slow and couldn't keep up with the florida teams. In fact, if you look back over the years, there were big plays all over the place. Troy edwards and La tech putting up 400+ yards through the air and a whole list of other folks. Blackshirts is about determination, dominance and hard hitting. We may not have beaten everyone, but they knew when they played nebraska, it was going to be a dogfight, and we would hit them hard. Screw the stats. Just play hard and hit someone in the mouth. We saw that yesterday. The team probably deserves the shirts back because 100% effort is being displayed. Under the last regime, they should have had pinkshirts! So, save your breath on giving up big plays. Everyone gives up big plays. And I am getting sick of hearing about parity in college football. Look at the top 10 teams. Cream always rises to the top. You may have some surprises hear and there, but the same teams are usually at the top.
