  1. With all due respect to Mike Ditka (think old SNL)... Should Suh just play Texas Tech all by himself?!
  2. that's awsome! can it be 'bronzed' up?... (man i gotta figure out how to use those programs!)
  3. No, but I do work with a lot of soccer fans... Just razzin' ya... blackshirts are a symbol of the top of the food chain, and need to stay that way (imho)
  4. does your company make soccer participation medals?
  5. can somebody out there photoshop the statue into this shape?
  6. skers - as a long time, mostly 'reader' on the board, i can't help but notice your 180 on coach Bo. Think he's growing into the job? For my part, I think we need to be willing to give him time... he seems to very much 'get it'. Although there undoubtedly will be bumps in the road, Bo seems to be a very good fit for the Husker Nation. I lived through my college days of folks wanting to fire TO, before the transformation of the 90's... just wondering how your overall perception has changed (?)
  7. Bo's saltwater aquarium guy, who is now working at Duncan aviation, said there were two planes...
  8. Yeah, it's a rule, but I never see it called anymore though. Remember the Bush Push? Rule 9 SECTION 3. Blocking, Use of Hands or Arms ... Interfering for or Helping the Runner or Passer ARTICLE 2. ... b. The runner shall not grasp a teammate; and no other player of his team shall grasp, push, lift or charge into him to assist him in forward progress. hate to divert the thread, but yeah, what the %@# ever happened to the 'aiding the runner' call??? the Rugby Scrum now seems to be fully accepted??? Why don't we just have our big O linemen pick up a small back and throw him over the goal line?
  9. New championship banners with more years on them!
  10. late 40's Miami is the Devil, Oklahoma is our Big 12 brother that 'we' get to pound on, but nobody else...
  11. very good thread... and sentiments.
  12. Can Bo say he's doing an excellent job in every area? For reminding us all of that... "May the fleas of a thousand camels nest in your armpits."
  13. They didn't buy them Saturday, so I don't see them buying them for the CU game. I'm sure half the students that are in Lincoln with tickets will say "screw it, its too cold out" and rip their ticket up. What a bunch of pu$$ies!! Put a coat on for gosh sakes... Seriously, though, I think winning will bring the fans back. Call 'em band wagon fans or whatever, they still fill the seats... I am not sure that we will ever have fans like some of us remember growing up. Times are different, there is too many other things going on on Saturday afternoons now. People don't take the time to spend with their kids and teach them about the tradition of Husker football now days...and even if they took the time, the kids won't always listen anyway. My kids are all HUSKER8UP and no there is not anything else to do on gameday. They have all been raised with Husker football and are proud of it. I do understand what you are saying though but tell my 12 year old girl you are a mizzou fan and see what you get. She knows more about the players then I do half the time and would put other schools fans to shame. So bring your kids up Husker red and help the tradition live on. When my wife said she may not be able to go to the colorado my little girl said she would go and she didn't care how cold it was. So if your one of those pu$$ies who are not going to go to the game my 12 year GIRL would be glad to take your seat. Bravo 8up, I was going to post the same thing... MY 12 year old girl has been raised from day one to take the baton - knows the 'stupidest' field in college FB (Boise State), wants me to now dress like Bo Pelini, and worries that Roy Helu isn't getting on the field enough... Trucker, some of us have the tradition locked down! '86
  14. Nebraska vs Western Michigan Highlights <link pB_bH0Ts1GQ 2:44 into the video= great hold by Jake Wesch. Why not 4 times really fast? Speaking of forgotten great keekers.. How did Adi do with the kickoffs? Equally as awesome. my 11 year old asked me after an AK kickoff thru the endzone, "what happens if it goes thru the goalpost?"... very next one actually did! (I'm wondering if they have some contigency, or practice 60, 70 yard field goals if we would ever need it!)
  15. Since we're all dying to see 'em on the field tomorrow... Many are pointing to a woeful lack of 'seasoned' talent, and to avoid drinking any turnaround koolaid... trying to draw comparisons to what Bo accomplished here before, is always met with the "yeah, but look at all the future NFL talent he had to work with". Question is, what was the view of that 'talent' before Bo's arrival (?) Here's a Sip article of that moment... not a lot about a cupboard stocked with studs... STEVEN M. SIPPLE COLUMN: Pelini ready to make mark at NU Yeah, he's the staff "outsider." But Bo Pelini has no time to ponder the distinction. Nebraska's new defensive coordinator has a system to install as spring practice looms just more than a month away. Of course Pelini would've liked to coach with his brother Carl, whom Nebraska head coach Frank Solich bypassed earlier this month in favor of ex-Husker Jimmy Williams for the job as linebackers coach. Of Nebraska's six new full-time coaches, five had previous ties to the program. Then there's Bo. What's done is done, Pelini says. He's moved on since the Williams hire. That's how he operates. No messing around. No B.S. He has a house in south Lincoln. His wife and two children arrived in town last weekend. He's here, OK. He's working. He's adapting. He's a Husker. Nonetheless, some predict Pelini will leave town after a couple of seasons, maybe even after the coming season. After all, he's regarded as an up-and-comer. "Time will tell, I guess," Pelini said Saturday. But he said a short stint in Lincoln "isn't my intention." As for being the staff "outsider," Pelini said, "I can't worry about that at this point. To me, that's something that can distract you, and there's a lot of work to be done here in a short amount of time. I'm just concerned about getting the job done." It's a daunting task, indeed. Nebraska's defense ranked 55th nationally as the Huskers stumbled to a 7-7 record in 2002. Intrigued by the challenge, and impressed by NU's tradition, the 35-year-old Pelini was lured from the Green Bay Packers to replace fired coordinator Craig Bohl. It's become clear that Pelini possesses a hard-edged, no-nonsense attitude -- just what Nebraska's defense needed. Pelini is nothing if not succinct. He gets to the point more quickly than a Nolan Ryan fastball, and Pelini can be as intimidating as one of Ryan's high-and-tight heaters. Pelini now has had time to watch film of Nebraska's defense in 2002. Well? "They were 7-7, so they didn't play well enough," he said flatly. However, Pelini said, he's careful to avoid judging his players individually based on last season's performance. "That would be unfair because I don't know exactly what they were being asked to do," Pelini said. "I wouldn't want to put anybody in the doghouse before I see how he responds to the new system and the new style of coaching." Pelini declined to offer detail about the "new system," though he did say Nebraska's base alignment will remain a 4-3. However, there apparently will be significant changes elsewhere. "From what I've seen on film, it'll be dramatically different," Pelini said. "To the naked eye, I don't know how dramatically different it'll look. But it's a different system -- that's all I want to say." Pelini is careful to avoid dwelling on Nebraska's struggle in 2002. "I can't concern myself with that at all," he said. What's more, Pelini insists he didn't harshly criticize the 2002 Husker defense last month when he and his fellow defensive coaches met with the defenders for the first time. According to a widely circulated e-mail, Pelini ripped the players' effort in a profane session. Pelini called the e-mail "bogus." "Ijust introduced myself," Pelini said. "It was a short meeting to let them know exactly what's expected." And that is? "Excellence, top to bottom, in everything they do," Pelini said. Pelini, meanwhile, is getting used to the lay of the land. For instance, he now has a decent understanding of the Blackshirt tradition. But he said those coveted black practice jerseys signifying first-team status won't be handed out liberally. Last August, Bohl awarded 15 players with the jerseys. "I don't know if we'll give out that many or not," Pelini said. "From what I understand, it's something you have to earn." It'll be interesting to watch how Pelini responds to the scrutiny that goes with his job. At $131,000 per year, Bohl's pay wasn't commensurate with the pressure he endured. At $200,000, Pelini's salary is more appropriate. In 2003, Husker fans will demand improvement. Patience will be in short supply. Pelini is adjusting to life in the limelight. As linebackers coach in Green Bay, he said, Packer fans pretty much left him alone. Here, it's another story. He goes to Nebraska men's basketball games and sees himself on the big screens, the crowd cheering. "I guess I am a little more in the limelight now," Pelini said grudgingly. "It's OK ... It's not something I prefer." Pelini commands respect with his stern and confident demeanorand his coaching background. Remember, he was hired at age 25 as a secondary coach with the San Francisco 49ers. In 1994, his first season with the Niners, they won the Super Bowl. Pelini seldom wears his title ring. "I'm not much of a jewelry guy," he said. Somehow I'm not surprised. Guess I'm getting to know the "outsider."
  16. I am so thankful to finally have a good, solid reason to hate Lou Holtz... couldn't put my finger on it, but this guy has always chapped my a$$.
  17. That decision may not have been Callahan's - especially considering that the deemphasis seemed to have started with Pederson even before hiring Callahan. doesn't it say somewhere that the anti-Christ will come from your own ranks, so he is not recognized?
  18. Haven't gotten my tics mailed to me yet, called ticket office, and talked to a most-frantic but nice gal... "we're working as hard as we can! we've got over 50,000 to send out!!!" Geez, I'm doing the math with the available minutes-in-a-day - they've got to be overwhelmed! Love it! GBR
  19. No they weren't kidding. This thread was started by a Jayhawk fan, and the last option was voted on by a Buffalo. We welcome everyone here, the good ones anyway. Why wouldn't they want Callahan to stay? Also there still are a select few Husker fans who have the thought that Callahan could have done great things here had he fired Cosgrove, woulda coulda shoulda. Oh yes, thanks for pointing that out. Just for the record, I was suprised some people did not pick Tom Osborne. The man his held with such reverence in the Husker community, I thought he would get more votes than 1. I asked my question straight up, and I never liked Callahan, I would argue with KC Huskers who kept speaking of the need to jettison the old to move forward with a modern system I was the one arguing the current could work pretty darn well (the current being Solich and Osborne at the time) and that the west coast offense may never be the best system in Lincoln Nebraska. No one picked the best option as having Osborne be the coach, I was just suprised people did not think he could do as well as BO. He may not want to, but I thought more people would say he was the best possible coaching option.... T.O. is loved. T.O. is 735 years old. T.O. would throw his whole body at the task at hand... but Nancy O. would 'kill him', or he would have his re-built heart instruct him otherwise - and he would soon be our 'dead' interim head coach. We'll be just fine with BO.
  20. To anyone... please go on to Huskers.com and try to buy season football tickets. We don't really have too much of a problem with 'bandwagon fans' around these parts.
  21. (I'm guessing this would be the same type of genius that asks if he needs to take a long rifle when visiting Nebraska... you know, for the 'injuns') Well, me being one of said "injuns", i've decided to take it to them, and invade the northeast... go get 'em! question is, is there anything worth taking...
  22. We just missed FOUR seasons... this will forever be known as "the dark time".
