  1. We were consistently a top 10 team under TO. Bo has yet to finish in the top 10.
  2. You know when you say it like that I tend to agree. When we have the upper hand I don't like to do this with Starters in because of the fact we are prone to injury and bad things happening so I would rather see us take the knee when we have already won handily like they did. I am not mad at Ohio st. for what they did, but I am mad that I thought that we would be able to compete for the title this year in the B10 and a Rose Bowl bid even after the loss to UCLA. Obviously that didn't wake up the coaches or players enough to put in the extra work to be better, that was obvious and very disconcerning. As far as the bad boy Urban coming and changing the B10, yeah I think that could happen he has the tools to do so and his fire and dertermination if within the rules should be looked at by our entire staff. It's all about talent baby...and we don't have it. Specifically on defense.
  3. i wonder how long the sellout streak last when ticket prices more than double in 1 season How much revenue do ticket sales bring in? 86,000 seats, $75/ticket. $6.5 million in revenue. I know it wouldn't likely happen, but overpaying the coaches by a couple million isn't going to "more than double" ticket prices.
  4. You know how many people I ran into the bar last night complaining about how Urban Meyer is an a-hole and a jerk and how dare he score another pointless touchdown on us. Get the f#*k over it. I'm starting to really hate the hypocrites in this fan base. Have you seen our own coach? Bo is possibly the biggest a-hole of a coach our football program has ever seen. He hates the media because they always seem to ask the question that is on everybody's mind. He blows up on the refs all the time. The guy has issues. I know many of us aren't stupid enough to break sh#t when we lose, or kick the cat, or whatever it is that these dumb asses do, but god damn. It's a f'ing football game that you are merely a fan of. You don't see the players breaking sh#t? I swear, people go into clinical depression because their favorite football team lost to a superior team...
  5. They could have been calling passing plays for all I care. "Running up the score" is a stupid term. They are playing a full 60 minutes of football. Didn't Bo call timeout during the last quarter of some game when we were clearly going to win so we could try and score? I didn't bash Bo then, and I'm not going to bash Urban now. In other news, quit being jealous of a winning coach.
  6. lol who gives a damn? I hope you werent serious, thats a pretty big deal down there and is equivalent to direspecting the national anthem. I'm pretty sure if I was a kicker, I could care less about the other teams band performance and make sure that I am prepared to not make any mistakes in the game I am about to play. I would have just kept warming up. This was at a football game, wasn't it?
  7. I wasn't ever calling for Bo's head. Why would I? I'm not the person who gets to make that decision. I'm just hate when I run into my friends every season and see "Oh, huskers are going to be a top 10 team this year....We have a good chance at contending for a MNC"... No we are not. We don't have the talent to be a top 10 team. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop cheering for the huskers, but I won't be spewing the ignorant bullsh#t that consists of remarks on how good we are.
  8. I've been wanting to start this topic for a while now, and I might as well during melt down mode. The truth is...we're not that good. The spread on the tOSU game tonight was 3-5 points depending on your bookie...my response was "That's it?...Easy decision"... Our defense is soft, our offense is inconstant, and our special teams makes a lot of mistakes. We are not even close to the era where we give a top 10 team a decent football game. Sorry...but Nebraska is not a good football team...
  9. Facts on the matter: 1. Wisconsin is pretty horrible especially compared to last season. 2. This game isn't even close if we don't spot them 20 points. 3. The team did a good job at cleaning up after themselves after pooping the bed the first half. 4. We continue to be a team that makes costly mistakes.
  10. We need to get better. We don't need to fire Bo. End of Story...
  11. NO! if you lay 3000 down on a 30/1 odds and win, you walk with 90,000 That would be taking odds. Laying odds is when you bet the other side of the coin. When you lay odds, you generally bet more to win less. At 30/1, you are better off putting your money into a mutual fund then laying odds....
  12. Isn't there some stipulation in the B1G that doesn't allow night games after a certain date? Not sure if that plays into effect... Sorry for the vagueness of my post...
  13. Im interested in who you think should be hired/fired.... Bo? Good f'ing luck finding anyone to replace him Carl? I don't think you're going to get Bo to fire his own brother.... Beck? We just hired him....give him a chance Cotton? This one I might agree with...but at the same time, I'm not sure who we hire to fill his place I hate morons who think people should be fired...but then they don't have any reason why, and they don't specify who should be hired in their place. They just say "Oh, we're not top 5 this year...someone should get fired...that will fix it..."...
  14. If you live in Omaha, you've definitely had the pleasure of meeting Iowa fans. The fact that the two teams haven't met since 2000 has really caused tension to build between the two fan bases. I have a few friends who are Iowa fans, and every time the huskers lose, they all send me messages alerting me of how much the huskers suck. I get back at them by not saying anything when Iowa wins or loses. Seriously, I don't have the time to send all of them a text every other weekend.
  15. First off, Solich didn't leave, he was fired by the man who damn near successfully destroyed the husker football program. I'll agree we were spoiled in the 90's, but most of us want to see a run of consistent conference championships, with frequent appearances to the MNC. The last time we visited it was over 10 years ago, and most agree...we shouldn't have been there. Either way, ever since I started watching Iowa football (I have a die hard Iowa fan friend), I have noticed that you guys are consistently inconsistent. Always beating teams you shouldn't and often not beating the teams you should. I've noticed this trend over the last 5 years. And it appears that Nebraska must be picking up on this epidemic, as we are starting to do the same thing.
  16. I meant both teams have been wildly inconsistent this season. Both teams are bi-polar. I also wouldn't consider Iowa inconsistent long term. We are a solidly above average program that has flashes of brilliance 2-3 times a decade. We've been the same since 1981. Very few teams can consistently win 9+ games year in and year out, and as you pointed out Nebraska isn't one of them anymore and Iowa has never been. Starting in 2006, we have only had a single <9-win season. Since Bo has been here, we have not had a <9 win season. The difference between our programs: Nebraska doesn't accept as getting 9 wins as "the bar"... So I guess in rebuttal, we are consistent at getting >9 wins a season, however I wouldn't say that this feat is hard to accomplish. Nebraska has a lot of room for improvement. Also welcome to the board. Stay a while.
  17. We are not a 10-3 team this year, so I would be fine with that at this point. Also, we likely should have lost to Ohio State. We could easily lose to Iowa. And the bowl game odds can be determined by the Iowa game this Friday. If I was to be a betting man, I say we're likely looking at another 9-4 seasons....which is somewhere between acceptable and mediocre.
  18. Isn't Iowa the definition of wildly inconsistent? 1991: 10-1. Next 3 seasons: 5-7, 6-6, 5-5. 2002: 7-5. Next 3 seasons: 11-2, 10-3, 10-2 2004: 10-2. Next 3 seasons: 7-5, 6-7, 6-6. 2009: 11-2. 2010: 8-5.... I know that none of this has anything to do with this season. I just find it strange that an Iowa fan is surprised that their team is inconsistent. As for Nebraska's last 10 years...the fans have consistently been let down.
  19. Here is something that is interesting: Frank Solich: 1998 - 10-4: Losses to #18 Texas A&M(21-28), #20 Texas (16-20), #2 K-State(30-40), #5 Arizona(20-23) 1999 - 12-1: Loss to #18 Texas(20-24) 2000 - 10-2: Losses to #3 Oklahoma(14-31), #16 K-State(28-29) 2001 - 11-2: Losses to #14 Colorado(36-62), #1 Miami(14-37) 2002 - 7-7:... 2003 - 10-3: Losses to #10 Missouri(24-41), #16 Texas(7-31), #18 K-State(9-38) (Bo coached last game) Bill Callahan: 2004 - 5-6 2005 - 8-4 2006 - 9-5 2007 - 5-7 Bo Pelini: 2008 - 9-4 2009 - 10-4 2010 - 10-4 2011 - 8-3 (as of 11/20/2011) We'll either end up at worse 8-5, or best case scenario 10-3... Sorry, I really just hate seeing Bo compared to Bill Callahan.
  20. I think the main concern with the playoff system is that it would add too many games to the season. I disagree. By implementing a hybrid bcs-playoff system, everyone can get the best of both worlds. Currently, the top 8 teams in the BCS are either undefeated, or one loss. Everyone below top 8 has at least 2 losses. Regular season games are still very much important. 8 teams means that there is two extra games for 2 teams, and one extra game for 2 teams. The first round of playoffs would simply be Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, and Rose bowl. From then on out, it would be traditional playoff style. The problem here is that there would be a shift of controversy from 1,2,3,4 to 7,8,9,10. Obviously there is pros and cons to both systems.
  21. How is end of season ranks more accurate? I will agree that there are scenario's where team rankings can not properly represent the team, but there are scenarios where eos ranks fail to do this as well. In the end, does it really matter? What does baffle me is the fact that people always call for the coaches head...So lets say we fire Bo...now what? Wait another 4 years before we can "accurately" determine if our new HC is of MNC caliber? Good luck finding that guy. Of course, all you couch coaches would obviously be capable of turning the Huskers into a team that might even put the 90's huskers to shame. Of course, you'd have to get off that couch first. Oh, and if you fail to have a 11 win season...sorry, you're done.
