  1. I would feel a lot better if he felt like he probably wasn't going to be the starter next year. He is a joke, especially with the O-line that he has in front of him that can't open holes or protect him when he drops back to throw a pass with his bad mechanics in tow. Dang! I was hoping none of the naysayers would come to this thread. Thanks alot! NOT! Glad I could make your day, because I am sure the game didn't...but then again, maybe it was all you expected, since maybe you are drinking the same kool aid that Martinez is. Outside of Lincoln, I would say that he would have a hard time finding a starting QB position anywhere in the top 50 teams of the NCAA. In your mind, I am sure Nebraska is going to win a NC every year. NOT!
  2. Does anyone else feel like maybe Watson should have to answer for why this offense is basically two dimensional? All any opponent has to do is key on Burkhead first, then look for Martinez. The O-line coach does come under the Offensive Coordinator, doesn't he? And the O-line has been in this "developmental" stage for more than 4 years under Watson. Why don't we have any other running backs that are "serviceable", even with the woes of the O-line? Why is Martinez the best we have, after all the so called "great gets" in recruiting the past few years? Is there maybe a problem with the recruiting? Like may they are not judging whether these kids can play at the speed of the NCAA? What happens if Martinez goes down? We have not seen much of anyone other than Martinez, probably because Watson don't have any faith in any of these so called backups. This offense is way too predictible now. Before it was too complicated. So what is the answer now? Where is the next great running back going to come from after Burkhead graduates? Sure haven't seen anyone that looks like they could play more than a series, and in that series actually get past the O-line. Would love to have Watson come up with some new answers, because what I am seeing now with the offense is not going to win our division in the Big Ten, let alone a NC, like Martinez claims he will be disappointed if we don't play for. Think it is time for a reality check...starting with the people at the top.

  4. Thanks for the pick me up Taylor. http://my.journalsta..._ourselves.html The ONLY way we will play for a NC next year will be a team that is not QB'd by Martinez. If he really thinks this offense is anywhere close to even winning the Big Ten, he is hallucinating. There is not one aspect, other than Burkhead, that indicates that this team is ready to do anything. If it weren't for Burkhead, the numbers would be that much more troubling. Martinez: Your not that good, son...not to be putting out bravado like that. You need a reality check, outside Lincoln, NE, you would probably not be a starting QB on any Division I team.
  5. I have known for a while that Cotton needs to go, and have been on that band wagon because that was blatently obvious after hearing that we were still "developing" the offensive line after all these years. But I am starting to wonder if we need to go all the way to OC, because I still don't get Martinez - is he really the best we have? And if he is, what happened to the recruiting program that we don't have someone better than that? Martinez is no QB, he is an athlete. We need an offense that isn't reliant on Burkhead and whether Martinez decides to show up that day. We need an O-line that can open some holes and protect a passer - once we really have a real passer in the pocket. I hope they have some plans to improve this defense also, because it is sliding down hill fast. All you have to do is look at where they are ranked in the NCAA in all the different catagories...it isn't pretty. That is not like a Nebraska team. As of now, they need to put the Blackshirts in the closet, and when they give them out to DESERVING players, and get away from this stupid idea that the whole defensive unit should have them, then bring them back. This was NO Blackshirt deserving defense. Look at the numbers. They kind of sucked. Even teams like Ohio State recognize individual acheivement, thus the buckeyes on the helmet. Why can't Nebraska do the same, and give out the Blackshirt to those who deserve to wear it, and if they quit being deserving, they turn them in? This idea that the whole starting defense should get them makes me puke. Especially when you have players running around in women's volleyball uniforms and bragging how they are so much better than, and could kick the ass' of the players that had the blackshirts before them and deserved them like we had a few years ago. PUT THE BLACKSHIRTS IN THE CLOSET! And leave them there, until we have a player that can dominate the opponent, and contributes to a team that is on the way to at least winning our division in the Big Ten.
  6. There needs to be some changes made. I am willing to give the defense a chance to develop with the new DC, but that should not take that long since he has already been on board. The secondary didn't do that bad of a job on coverage, this is probably one of the better coverage secondaries that Nebraska has had. The defensive line needs improvement, not enough pressure on the QB. The Offense is another story...if Bo don't get some changes on the coaching staff, this team will never even be a top 5 contender. The offensive line stunk in the 2nd half. No doubt about it. It has done very little this season. I am sick and tired of watching them "develop". Either get them to put out or find someone that can get them to. Cotton is a joke. He should be let go before he gets off the plane on the way back to Nebraska. Once again we had the Burkhead and Martinez show...and once again Burkhead showed why he is one of the best, because he did it for the most part on his own talent. Martinez once again showed he can either be hot or cold, depending on the series. Now that the opposition knows what he will try to do when he takes off, they are ready for the most part. For once 2nd half adjustments were less than we would expect. Usually they can come together at halftime and solve some of the problems. We didn't see that today. The team came out of the locker room flat, and it went down hill from there. I am starting to also question whether Bo is right for this job. The second half, he was melting down, and the team took his cue. Enough already, either show you can handle the job or step down. When the pressure is on, he does not look like he can keep control of himself, let alone the team. Bo is being paid to be a head coach for a major division one football program, he should act like he can handle the job, and be able to control not only his emotions, but the emotions of the team.
  7. This team will never see a National Championship or even be in the top 5 teams with this coaching staff. Cotton is the first that needs to go. NOW.
  8. That isn't that bad...every team has to deal with some of this. Most of the players that leave are ones that wouldn't figure as starters anyway. It is bad when you lose the #2 QB because he wants to play rather than be a backup...that hurts.
  9. Amen, and hopefully we keep them under 26 right?
  10. Taylor Martinez's name shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as "Passing Quarterback" (unless there is a "not a" in there).
  11. They had a cow over this one on their board...talk about no sense of humor.
  12. Sorry, but I didn't know Bo shaves his legs when he was hired...otherwise I don't think I would have been behind that hire at all....
  13. Bo would only have to pay $250,000 to buyout his contract to go somewhere else? WTF was Dr. Tom thinking? That is ridiculous! That is the one item of information out of that article that just really scares the crap out of me.
  14. I would say '71, but the '95 team was very awesome, too. But it is impossible to ever know because of all the unknowns.
  15. We need to give him more time. But there are some changes that need to be made, and he needs to be the one to see that they are.
  16. Considered by who? He was All-Pro as a rookie (which is indeed impressive), but he's been mediocre as hell this season. You wouldn't think that might be because they are double teaming and even triple teaming him at times would you? I am not a genius, but I figure that opens up other team mates to do some damage, too.
  17. Considered by who? He was All-Pro as a rookie (which is indeed impressive), but he's been mediocre as hell this season. Ah, c'mon now... It's obvious the NFL and ref's target Suh because he is a freak of nature and an immediate danger to all QB's. It's not at all because he plays with frustration and acts like a b**ch! Suh would have been great back in the 60's as a player. There was a lot of eye gouging and nutting going on back then in those pile ups. The players today are nothing more than overpaid sissys, thanks to the union.
  18. Pelini may not win another game, but the teams that he coach will win plenty more games. Hopefully even have undefeated seasons again some day.
  19. Just as well become a kicking school, after Burkhead is gone, we damn sure won't be a rushing school anymore. And we will never be a passing school with Martinez...and the Defense is trending down also if you look at their stats and where they rank nationally. Ok...so Christmas has me in a real funk. I better just get off here and go sulk. Bo humbug!
  20. If someone did that to me, I would wait until I was at the bottom of the pileup with the ahole and hit him square in the gonads. Do that a couple of time, maybe he would get tingly fingers and not want to untie my shoe laces. But then I was always the type that didn't care if I got busted, just wanted my revenge. My advice to Suh: make it worth the money, stomp on his f'ing head next time.
  21. I predict we beat South Carolina...barely. I predict Bo won't get rid of Cotton. Unfortunately. I predict Stoops already laughed at what Nebraska could potentially be willing to pay for a DC, thus no conversation needed between he and Bo. I predict another year of barely getting by next season, with another 9-3 team or worse, especially if Cotton is not replaced.
  22. I would be happy if Barney Cotton was fired and replaced by someone that knows how to coach an o-line.
  23. Tough choice between Burkhead and David, but I had to go with David, because without him this average defense would have really been bad. He was a game changer and saved the game or changed the tide of the game several times throughout the season. He was the one player that legitimately could be called a Blackshirt IMHO. Burkhead is a man. He is the one go to back that we have. Martinez does what he does out of good athletic ability and a lot of luck. He is not a good QB, his mechanics stink. Burkhead is the one guy that everyone know is going to get the ball, has a sub-par O-line in front of him that couldn't open a hole if nobody was standing in front of them, yet Burkhead is able to get the yards. He has a good future in the NFL if he can stay healthy. But without David, we wouldn't have been 9-3 or anything close to it. He carried the defense on his back, and without his numbers the defensive rankings would have really been apathatic and probably in the bottom half of the country in rankings all the way around.
  24. Well you certainly seem to be confused, Frank Solich coaches Ohio. Lest we forget...it is THE Ohio State University...
  25. If you need sources for everything, might as well become an English teacher. Or a news reporter, because they don't need sources anymore, just rumors.
