  1. Of course we don't know what the future will hold for Bo. But he isn't quite the Mike Stoops-type. He is definitely intense but isn't at the Mike Stoops-level. Stoops is totally over-the-top and swearing like syphilis-ridden pirate too much of the time. Maybe if Bo had gotten the job back in '03 he'd have been more of a Mike-clone but I think he has matured a bit since then.
  2. Sounds like a guy that would work well in the WCO, a technically solid guy with enough athleticism to make some plays. A good complement for a burner-type. Hopefully Texas stays out of it or at-least slow-plays him.
  3. Hopefully UCLA stays off of him. Our chances against Arizona could improve if Stoops can't get off the hotseat. He is great as the firebreathign DC but meh as the firebreathing HC. He has to win this year or he is gone. Could be a nice job for Turner Gill.
  4. Being the first-offer and Bo being from the area should help here. He would be a real coup and could help us get more guys from Ohio. Getting him in for a visit is very nice step. Hope he is impressed with what he sees.
  5. We're still a WCO-team. We'll have some spread-option like against CU. We'll also have a more physical blocking scheme/style. Watson will likely want to pound the rock a little more, especially with what we have back at rb as compared to wr. But judging from what coaches have said and what I saw at the Spring-game I wouldn't look for big changes in the O. It works, hopefully this season it just works a little more consistently.
  6. $4000 donation to get on a waiting-list? Hope you get those tickets dude.
  7. Hey if Stanford is an option at-least you know the kid studies and academics won't be an issue. ND already committed a 5*-guy in Cierre Wood and a 4* in Theo Riddick. Why would a kid accept an offer knowing he has to beat-out those two for a starting-job and ND doesn't redshirt? Personally, I don't see why recruits are overlooking Charlie's '07 trainwreck and assuming everything is all-good. THEY LOST TO SERVICE ACADEMIES, not a guy on AF or Navy would have gotten a sniff from ND coming out of high school.
  8. I think FSU, Tenn, and Miami are great examples of recruiting hype versus actually being a good team. As for recruiting and signing "classes that rank among the best in the country", ranked among the best according to whom? And how do you even know after the players have left? Recruiting and evaluating talent is, and will always be, purely a matter of opinion. FSU, Tenn, or Miami don't play in the Big XII north. If they did, they would crush every one including KU and Mizzou. And look how many players come out of those programs that are IMPACT players in the NFL. What the hell? FSU is not that good, they'll be around .500 AGAIN in the totally meh ACC this year. Miami isn't much better. What year do you think it is? Kansas just beat the ACC-champ, hell our sorry asses beat one of their better teams in WF in their own crib. Tenn is definitely good but not a worldbeater. Recruiting like these teams is still important though, wouldn"t begin to argue that, we just want to be better-coached and get more out of our talent than they do. Nebraska barely beat a banged-up WF team with their starting QB out. Ya I do think their starting-qb would've made a little difference, maybe enough to get a W, but we did still beat them in their own crib with a 5-7 team. Point remains that the ACC just isn't that good right now. I'd say that even the Big East was better, ask OU.
  9. Our WCO should definitely look more polished than ATM's this year, maybe it'll help us a bit. We seem to be in the running for several of the same qb's as ATM. Maybe if they can step-up and land one of the others at-least it could put us in first place for Green.
  10. Yeah, last time I saw it with Bo it was just called the Nebraska Cornhusker Football Show. I think he may have requested that his name not be in it? Not really sure. The Nebraska Cornhusker Football Show? Wow, that has ZERO ring to it. Gotta come-up with something better than that.
  11. Big wr like that gives a lot of mismatch potential. He'd have to bulk-up a lot to play TE, like 50lbs if he is going to block credibly.
  12. FSN's coverage kinda sucks, over half the time they don't show a replay and the announcers tend to be meh. But it is still tv, which is worlds away from only having radio, glad they picked this game up.
  13. Seems like he could be a TE or maybe a big WR, I don't like our chances either but I do like that we are really getting after some TE's. We haven't really had that aspect since Herian got hurt.

  15. Overlook the stars if you want but if you want to consistently ignore that and the other teams offering I'd say you aren't being logical. The competition have qualified, experienced guys evaluating potentials too. To me it seems unrealistic to think we are onto so many "sleeper" picks other decent BCS-programs haven't caught on to. A few I can definitely believe, plenty of quality players weren't big recruits. Mason Wald seems like a good example of a real player that fell through the recruting-cracks that we picked-up on. But to think we are so superior at evaluating and into a bunch of sleepers? That is pushing it IMO. Other programs aren't just copying a list of potentials from rivals and going after them either. We won't really know til a few years down the road whether these guys were stretches or smart offers. I certainly hope I have egg on my face and our coaches turn-out to have been just that good at finding undervalued guys. Guess we'll see how it turns out.
  16. A big-time qb like Green would be great, we'd not only get a hell of a qb but he could change the tone for this class and help bring other guys in. We're in the hunt for several first-rate qb's, fingers-crossed we can close on one.
  17. If Robinson was a big name I could see that. But that isn't the case. Heck wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Robinson end-up at safety or will, which on a Pelini team could be a very nice gig. I'm hoping some of our competition land a big qb or rb we aren't into and help us land a guy we are into.
  18. He instantly came to mind. McBride said he picked-up stuff incredibly fast. Plus he has a lot of pro-playing experience. Could be a hell of a db-coach.
  19. Roids aren't going-away. They work and there are ways around the tests. If you can get your testosterone down within the max possible for nonjuiced guy(which can be high), get the designer-roid out of your system, or find some other way to cheat you'll be fine. Plus it isn't really in the winning-interest to bust players for them so I have doubts as to how hard programs work to catch guys. I'm sure we have some guys that juice but not really an abnormal amount. It is an unfortunate reality of sports.
  20. No way is he THE rb for this class, we'll take another, wouldn't surprise me to see this kid at safety, possibly even Will. Bo likes speedy LB's and it looks like this kid could carry LB-weight without any problem.
  21. Minnesota is recruiting dang-well with their new guy, could be tough to get out of the state, let-alone Big10 country. But our O is just screaming for a quality TE, it'd be great to get in on him.
  22. Sorry for not partaking in a koolaid-swilling circlejerk, I thought this is what messageboard are supposed to be for. I didn't blindly buy-into Pedey and BC back when folks were bandwagoning and I won't do it for Bo either even though I like him better. Objectively speaking I gotta raise questions about what I see. I'm not saying they didn't offer guys without reason, ya of-course they see potential. I'm just saying some of these guys they could have waited on til they got to see them at summercamp or during the coming season to be sure about them, possibly waiting on a few to see how recruiting is going and whether additional offers are needed. I have trouble believing we are just so superior at evaluating talent/potential and are into so many guys that other programs of-note and recruiting experts are overlooking. I'd have no problem with being "king of the sleeper picks" but I have to question whether all these guys are really sleepers or whether we are pumping some sunshine. Hopefully I'm dead wrong, we won't really know for a few years and see the kids play.
  23. The spread?????????? Houston Nutt has never based his offense off any passing attack. If this kid wants to throw the ball even ocassionally, he for damn sure better steer clear of any Nutt-led team.... If anything Nutt is known as a guy whose team started the trend of using the qb-less "wildcat" formation. That comment ranks up there with the stud qb from Pitt's latest class that loved their "win any way possible" attitude when Pitt hadn't had a winning season in the Wanny-era.
  24. But TO used an idiosyncratic O that didn't rely on the same type of players. We didn't need pro-type qb's. We needed wr's that were could block their butt-off and catch the occasional ball when thrown. Linemen were shorter guys with quick feet that could pull like a muther. Our O didn't require the same kind of players others covetted. So our O didn't call for the type of guys that got the most attention from other schools. Plus our S&C used to be such that we got more out of our guys than about any other program. Also, Osborne best teams were damn athletic and he did have some highly-ranked classes. Now we are recruiting the same offensive players as the rest and our competition is no-longer lagging in S&C. Ya Bo is a motivator that preaches aggression and fundamentals, he'll get a lot out of players and will look for guys that fit husker-mold. But folks still need to recognize that some differences that enabled TO to win without highly ranked recruits are gone.
