  1. Looks like Stoops may actually get another year at 'zona, unless their AD is totally blowing smoke. My next choice would be Jon Tenuta from Ga Tech. Other good possibilities would be co-coordinators in the form of Marvin Sanders:db-coach and Dan McCarney d-line coach. Or you could replace McCarney or Sanders with Phil Bennett.
  2. I would hope we bring some fire for Senior-Day. Freeman will gouge us but hopefully he'll also have some timely turnovers. If our O can avoid turnovers we have a solid shot at a W.
  3. I would hope he got canned because he sucked as an announcer, not because he quit homering and spinning to tell the truth. Rose was almost painful to listen to, glad to find him gone. But I thought he blew too much hot-air up our ass as is, don't think he should get in trouble for finally getting real.
  4. Our D played surprisingly solid in the last two games. Unfortunately the offense let-down. Since Zach had a horrid game vs OU I can give BC somewhat of a pass but the disappearance vs Auburn goes on him.
  5. Out of guys I think we'd have some shot at getting: Brian Kelly-proven winner as a HC Bo-Great D-mind that players go thru walls for Chris Peterson-Supposed to a tough-get due to personal-ties to Boise but would be a quality hire. Schooled Bob in the bowl and has run one of the nation's best offenses for years. June Jones-Hard to get anyone other than Samoans to Hawaii but they still win a lot Gill-has turned Buffalo around way ahead of schedule Muschamp-Great D-guy, though I think he takes Auburn job when ATM goes for Tuberville Bud Foster-Multiple #1 defenses aren't an accident.
  6. I might take Hawkins over Pinkel. Hawkins is playing a lot of young guys and dealing with the results of Barney's date-rape-scandal recruit-classes. Now that he actually has a qb they are headed in the right direction and will be steadily improving. Pinkel seems to have improved but has had way more time than Hawkins. I think CU will be damn dangerous in a few years when they have some real talent.
  7. A better HC would see that you can't run this program like a pro-team. You gotta hit and teach fundamentals. A better HC would find guys that want to play their ass off and be huskers, not just sell us to naive underachievers as a NFL training-ground. A better coach would've seen how we never come from behind at the half and look to make better adjustment or find guys that can. He also woud've confronted Pedey about our questionable S&C. A better HC doesn't watch his D exemplify meh-coaching year after year and do nothing. Then do nothing when it is obvious that changes have to be made this season. Hell even Leach finally fired his old buddy as DC.
  8. If Ganz does wake-up the team it reflects coaching that he wasn't given a shot before.
  9. It would be good for the seniors to win the last game in Lincoln, I'll say KSU.
  10. I would just like to see us go back the old system with 1's vs 1's and 2's vs 2's. I know the current system is supposed to help recruiting but what kind of dupe doesn't realize having 1's against the back-ups proves squat?
  11. Gill could come back but he not to be a coordinator. If we don't hire him as HC somebody else probably will. Rathman at OC I can see. Dude has been a rb-coach forever. This is as good a chance as any to move-forward with his career or to at-least move to a job that is meaningfull than switching teams in the NFL every few years. I just wonder what type of offense Rathman would run. Frost has actually coached. Maybe him I can see. I can see Sanders coming-back. He is a great db-coach and would make a good co-coordinator with a guy like Dan McCarney or Phil Bennett. If Gill leaves Jimmy Williams might become a HC, otherwise he may follow Gill here if Gill got hired. I still think Ron Brown is a hell of a coach and a great role-model for players. I'd rehire him as wr-coach in a heartbeat if he wants the job. I can't see hiring a guy who has never coached, that is what GA-positions are for.
  12. I said it before the ATM game and I'll say it now BC has to finish 7-5 to keep his job. If he runs the board I see TO giving him the opportunity to revamp. 6-6 or less means era-over. KU in Lawrence will be tough. They are a better-coached, more disciplined team than Texas. Texas has lost too many DC's to HC-jobs and their OC has always been average. He just had VY to make him look good for a couple seasons. KSU is a very winnable game-last home-stand. Freeman can really make things happen but is turnover-prone. But you gotta look-out for their playmaker Jordy Nelson. He has Big12 player of the week written all over him. CU has played good ball during their conference-sched, and 3/4 of their losses this season could've went either way if not for big passes being dropped. But we have a significant talent-advantage over them and their team is young. But that youth is getting more seasoned by the week. If it looks like BC's last game maybe the guys really go balls-out to send him off with a win.
  13. Kiffin is a hell of a coach. Would've been a solid replacement for TO. But he is too old to take over a program now. Jim Grobe is the oldest guy I would consider, he is 55.
  14. Rather than question why younger guys aren't playing more I tend to ask why are the older guys not better?
  15. I'd be interested in Johnson but I'd have to know who he'd bring-in as D-staff. I'd actually like to see co-DC's with Dan McCarney coaching d-line and Marvin coaching d-backs. Phil Bennett could be worth looking-at too. I like Grobe, Wake is a tough place to win at. If Skinner had stayed healthy they'd probably be a 1-loss team now. Leavitt and Schiano I don't think are realistic options. They have been wooed before and shot 'em down. What Michigan does could affect us. If Carr steps down who do they go for? The most common rumor is Miles, second is Kelly(beloved in that state due to Grand Valley and CMU success). Miles would definitely be the tougher get since LSU is a major power but if he goes Bo likely becomes LSU-HC. If Mich goes for Miles then Kelly could definitely be worth making a run at, helluva coach. Somebody told me Peterson from Boise really likes it there and has a kid in a local hosptal that actually specializes intht particular disease. If true that could make him a hard get, but if he'd be open to an offer I'd definitely be interested. Dude has run one of the most productive and balanced offenses in football for years and consistently wins games with average WAC-recruiting. He flat-out schooled Bob in the bowl, that impressed me.
  16. General you realize just how bad Buffalo was when Gill took-over? They were the worst program in college football. Now they are regularly beating the same conference-teams that used to consistently beat them two years ago. They'd have a winning record now if their AD hadn't filled their noncon with BCS-teams, even a Baylor or Syracuse has Buffalo significantly outgunned talent-wise. Buffalo and Neb may have the same record but Buffalo is getting a lot more out of their players. I think we'll go for Bo or a guy with more HC-experience but I think Gill would be worth keeping our eye on anyway.
  17. Dailey is a senior whose qb-skills are more-suited to run-based attack. The move to wr made sense in that context. This will be a tranisition year for NC anyway, might as well let your future starter learn the ropes. Dailey was the starter at the end of last season for NC, he did get his job back. Part of Dailey's undoing is that he was recruited to be a dual-threat guy that ran as much as he threw. He never got to do that for BC or at NC. Another big part is that every year Dailey played qb he had to learn a new offensive system, that takes significant time that could have been spent working-on his bad habits. I think if Gill had Dailey playing in a system he was suited for and in the same system throughout his tenure the kid would've became a solid qb.
  18. TO wouldn't have let facilities go from elite to average. That definitely put a cramp in recruiting. I think if TO was close to the situation he may not have fought bringing in new blood like he did. Solich made mistakes but he was handcuffed by Osborne's insistance on Solich not making staffing changes then pushing his choices on Solich for promotions/hires up after that. Solich may have done better if TO was around and saw that new blood was needed. But that is hard to say. TO probably would have helped some behind-the-scenes with the coaching. His experience could have helped. I don't know if we'd be a power but we'd be a top20 team anyway.
  19. I had Coz pegged as a BC-crony from the start. He hadn't had a big-time D at Wiscy in years and the locals were tired of him. I wasn't buying the "cupboard is so empty" crap. His first D had a bunch of guys that play in the NFL now and a secondary that had been stellar the year before looking clownshoes against ISU.
  20. Lemming is a freaking douche, his opinion means squat when you look at the personal-politics involved.
  21. The Mich-situation worries me. Rumor has it they go for Miles but does Miles leave and open the LSU job? I still wonder if Mich goes for Kelley from Cinci. Folks in the state are very high on Kelley due to his championships at Grand Valley State and Central Michigan. LSU won't let go of Miles without a fight. If Bo did stay to coach LSU Kelley could be a good candidate for us.
  22. The Watson stuff scares me a little. Dude only had CU's offense rolling that one year. Ya he can likely call plays better than BC but I don't know if that is a huge accomplishment or that we should be pushing him as next-year's OC. But I'd be game for us giving him the reigns for the rest of the season to see what he can do.
  23. MANCRUSH= Sarkisian MANCRUSH#2= Bo Pelini Not a Gill fan for HC, but why is it that Sarkisian is getting a bye for never being a HC but it was always used against Turner Gill. Turner Gill wasn't qualified. and now that he is head coach we can see why. He cant even turn a LOW level team around. I understand his ties to nebraska, but we need a solid coach. Dude, stupid freaking statement. Buffalo was hands-down the worst program in the country when Gill took over. They actually started competing last year. Now they have a winning in-conference record(their noncon is ALL BCS-teams they are totally outgunned by). In consideration of where they started their improvement has been major.
  24. WF had their back-up qb in, with Skinner they probably win. Plus that was the secod game of the year, they have won every game since then and they won the ACC last season. Dude is a good coach. He isn't young, 55, but I wouldn't consider his age a major consideration. IMO he is worth considering. Paul Johnson can definitely coach, I only wonder if he can recruit.
  25. I'm not a fan of this staff but I don't have a problem with them being honest with recruits about the way things are going. Ya they should say some nice things about the program and keeping Neb in-mind but I can't see expecting them to hard-sell and blow hot-air up a kid's ass when they know they are gone. Back in 03 Barney Cotton did something similar, told a kid he should wait and see how things shake-out before making a decision.
