  1. Beg to differ. Coaches are supposed to put their players in a position to win. It's up to the players to be motivated enough to perform.
  2. Riley may suck but if the players give up...on their team, teammates and themselves...why keep them around? If you can't give 100% during the game, fake an injury and give somebody who wants to play a chance.
  3. You forgot the "sh" in the thread title...
  4. Bring on #'s 1,2 and 5! Here's an idea...maybe watch how ISU is running the 3-4 defense and emulating that? Seems to be working for them. Oh...or how about recruiting kids that actually want to play rather than be recruited because they had lots of stars behind their name? Maybe a coaching staff that game plans an entire game and makes adjustments as the game develops? Okay, I'm gloating now cuz next year it will be back to the same old crap. But for now, I am going to enjoy the crap out of two things... 1). Iowa State has managed to remove the Big 12 from the playoffs. Bwahahaha! 2). Maybe this is the year for someone else's fan base to watch the Cyclones in a bowl game while they sit at home waiting for next year.
  5. I'd stay where I was until both schools hire and fire new coaches...maybe I would change my mind three years from now when they come calling again.
  6. Wow...forgot about Riordan. My kid used to line up next to him every game. Throw the kid in there...he's got the potential to be a good one.
  7. I just heard Campbell refer to Nebraska fans as "those f**king hillbillies". Honest!
  8. Why do I only see 1 Corn Cob hat in the entire crowd? The hell is wrong with you people?
  9. Geez people...there's lots of positives about this season. Here's my Top 10 reasons to stay positive: 1. You're not Kansas 2. There are so many channels showing so much football that you can give up and switch over to a better game instantly 3. All the replays slows the game down so much you can run down to the store for a 12 pack and not miss a minute of the game 4. You won't feel obligated to buy a Husker Highlight DVD at the end of the season 5. You're get a chance to rake the leaves 6. You can take a real vacation instead of going to Chicago or Detroit to see a 2nd tier bowl game 7. The old people in the stands have quit yelling at you to sit down during the game. 8. You don't have to wait till halftime to take a big dump 9. There should be plenty of season tickets available next year 10. Trump hasn't mentioned you Hope that helps...
  10. You all don't want Matt Campbell...he...uh...shuts his lights off and pretends not to be home on Halloween...and...um...takes candy from babies and kicks puppies and kitties and...uh...other real bad stuff. Definitely not the kind of guy Nebraska would want leading their football team...better look somewhere else.
  11. Kansas needs fans...and it's close.
  12. And the Squakeyes lost...I'm off to buy lottery tickets!
  13. Change of plans...watching Iowa State going 2-1 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2002 and their first 4 game road winning streak since 1960...America is Great Again!
  14. I remember the stupid red helmets! Those were from 1983. After the fourth game everybody was terrified of them. David Archer told us if he even had a chance of winning one he was going to start flinging the ball into the stands. That was probably one of the least thought out decisions in NCAA history...
  15. Never knew...couldn't even remember the number till I watched the tape. The only player I matched up a name with a number was Straussburg. I held him real good on one play and Westemeyer told me not to do that again cuz "Straussburg will kick your ass and then kick mine cuz I'm next to you"
  16. Here's a story to cheer you all up and take your mind off of your problems...cuz I like a happy Husker much more than a morose one... I recently found my game films from 1984 so took a look to remind myself why I ever was stupid enough to play football. My senior year...we weren't good, or even mediocre...the usual ISU team. When we were playing Nebraska, We did some two tight end sets because Alex Espinosa was getting crushed when we tried passing. Our D was actually doing real well (until the beer and cigarettes kicked in in the 4th, after which we got buried)...so we were going with the 1 yard and a cloud of dust option three times then punt game plan (you all should consider Jim Criner to be your new coach...everybody already hates him) and I was getting a few reps. I pretty much got manhandled on both sides of the formation. I counted three times that #87 pretty much ran me over and one time where #90 just picked me up and threw me. But, the hardest hit I took that entire game was when some little pissant DB got me right in the ribs, knocked the wind out of me and left me laying on the field thinking the last thing I was going to see before I died was the face of our butt ugly trainer. Unfortunately, I lived to lose another day and had a wonderful bruise that was the color of a beautiful fall sunset. #10 the kid's number was. He was real ugly and missing all his teeth and had crossed eyes...actually, I didn't even see him coming...but I could smell him! You damn Huskers! Anyway...that kid could him like a ton of bricks. He gets my "Hardest Husker Hitter" award... I'm going to get these tapes digitized. I'll post some clips when I can
  17. Both Iowa State and Iowa are very good about establishing relationships with kids, parents and coaching staffs...and not above leaning on parents when it comes to legacy players (i.e. Allan Lazard from Urbandale). Iowa has a real big presence in central Iowa and Iowa State's sphere is growing. These two seem to pick off most of the recruits The other schools had various ins with families or friends. We have a good amount of potential D1 footballers in Iowa but other than in state schools, nobody pays much attention unless we actively promote them to other schools. I leave that decision up to the player and his parents. I digress...yes, we did actively promote a couple of these players to Nebraska but didn't get any scholarship offers. One ended up at Iowa with a full ride scholarship and the other walked on at Iowa State and earned his football scholarship last year. Did any of that answer the question or do I need to take some more Robitussin and go to bed?
