  1. The picking up thing I don't think sounds that bad. It's kind of like when your kid is being a pain and saying they are going to leave and run away and you are struggling with them and holding them so they don't take off, but you find it's much easier if you just pick them up over your shoulder and carry them back in the house where you can reason with them. Most parents/couples don't like to fight in public, so getting her back in the apartment where there is more privacy would be best. I'd have to say I'm most worried about the second return of Marv Alberts in Barry! Biting??!! Now that is a little worrisome! Is he two years old again? Also, doesn't Barry have a kid, or am I mistaken??
  2. Alex Henery is a Jr this year and doesn't have a schollie but should. Dreu Young is also a Jr who could get a schollie. I know this is a horrible way to look at things, but sometimes this is what has to be done in order to get a program back to the top. I also believe Henery and Young should probably both get one, however these are two guys who are getting plenty of playing time and are probably going to continue getting it, so the chance these guys would leave the program if they don't get a scholly is small. These kind of guys are going to stay with the program without the scholly. So, better to save the schollies for next year than give them to these guys. I know, I know, that sounds pathetic, but right now with a new coaching staff, etc, you have to think about the future and getting the guys in here they want.
  3. As far as schollies, I don't think you just burn them on sophs or juniors unless they have really contributed and don't have a schollie(none I can think of). So, either give to senior so it will free up next year, bring in a top talent that may still be available for this year, or just save it. More than likely they will go to seniors or just be held on to.
  4. I myself wouldn't be too surprised, but I think alot of people who don't really "follow" Husker football will hear the name, realize it's a name they have heard alot with alot of hype, therefore will be surprised. But, I myself don't think he will be a huge factor for the Huskers in the future. I actually think he may be a better DT. I just think he's not tall or fast enough to be a linebacker and there is better talent than him on the team at his position. I really think if he bulked up he could be a very good DT with leverage and quickness. Once again, JMO.
  5. He's N per rivals!!!! Welcome aboard David!! How awesome is this?!! J/K
  6. Is there a link or a place to hear "The Big Red Wrap-up"??? I would love to hear it. Here's a link. Go to bottom of page, Show #18. http://netdb.unl.edu/bigredwrapup/ Wow!!! What a well put together show that is. I take it that it plays after all of the games during the season and the spring game? Thanks for the link. Yeah, they do a pretty good job with it. They review all the games and have different guests on each week, usually media guys or ex players.

  8. Redshirting is still absolutely needed!! I agree everyone should have equal shot to earn their spot, but if you have a couple seniors who are studs at their position and the freshmen is just as good but not quite mature yet, he will not play. So, why waste a year for him sitting on the bench, redshirt him. Also, for injuries like Williams this year. I just don't think he is gonna be really ready to play this year and a redshirt is a good thing for someone like him.
  9. Well by that definition only the players currently on campus are eligible. Everyone else still has classes to take to graduate. No sh!t. However, some guys who have signed could fail every class this semester and still qualify. His possibiliy of qualifying is definitely up in the air and I was just trying to figure out if there is any way he could still make it in the fall. Most guys will be qualified after their senior year is over, but it sounds like he will need summer school classes. Just trying to clear up the rumors as best as possible.
  10. So, am I correct in saying that right now Ankrah is NOT eligible? However, if he gets the right classes and hours he needs over summer he will become eligible and can enroll this fall? Basically, he can still make it in the fall, it's not for sure he won't make it for fall? Right?
  11. I went to Yahoo's recruiting site to see who has all signed a LOI. They have everyone for Nebraska. Then I look at USF and they have only one player out of their entire commitment class that has signed a LOI????? Wonder what's happening there? To note, JPP is one of the players they list as NOT signing as of yet. Here's a link http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/commi...9&School=70
  12. I was thinking we were looking at taking 23-24? Is that right? And if so, it looks like we will be a little short. Or, are there a couple guys we are looking to get that maybe we don't know about? Also, is anyone else having trouble getting into the site and getting to the links they want? I'm having a tough time getting into links, just won't load.
  13. You'd sure think someone like Ron Brown could have a huge influence on this kid.
  14. It WILL be sold out!!!!!!!!!! The recession will only truly last until March and the light will show thru. April is going to be a turning point for the economy and it will show with a sold out crowd. Mark my words, the recession is going to end in March!! Take it to the bank!!
  15. It's all semantics, it's just how you decide to look at it. We agree, but disagree at the same time. I am saying your athletic potential is something you are born with, so yes, I guess you could call it genetics, however, there are plenty of great athletes who's parents were not at all. I am saying athleticism is a gift that you can max out with the right work, so yes redshirting will help most. But, you see it all the time where kids come in and they are a stud in high school, but never play a down in college. Why? Many times they have reached their athletic potential by college and NO amount of work is going to make them better. Anyways, we will just agree to disagree, or agree to agree. Depends on how you look at it. Semantics, all semantics.
  16. You take a kid out to play 3-4 games and you are cheating a kid out of a year of development. Not only that you are gonna have a really PO'd kid that feels like he has been jerked around. Kinda happened with Dennard. He wasted a RS year for what? Some KO coverage and a few returns? Most kids aren't leaving after their junior year anyways, so why worry? Brandan Jackson was the first kid we have had in how long that left a year earlier? Fabian being the other? We only had a couple kids who were physically ready to play anyways. Baker, but he was sick, lost weight and had no chance. Cotton, but we had 4 TEs already here. Same for Reed. Compton, but he had a bum shoulder he needed surgery on. Dennard, who played. Otherwise, every single kid benefited from a year of learning. Guys like PJ Smith, Cortney Osborne, Tim Marlowe, Alonzo Whaley and others have evolved a ton. It's like night and day with a few of them. Smith, Whaley and Marlowe especially. BS. You don't roll over running a 4.4 or 4.5 with 35 inch vertical. The way you are putting it that a gifted athlete just shows up and is athletic. That is far, far, far from the case. Every single one of these guys have to absolutely bust their rear end so they could get to the point they are and stay at the point they are. One year in a major S&C program from a HS gym could absolutely transform any athlete. Take a look at Daniel Bullocks. When he came to Lincoln he was running near a 4.8 and was thin as a rail. By the time he leaves he is over 200lbs and running sub-4.4's. Or a guy like Brandon Rigoni. Tiny guy in HS and was average speed at best in HS. By the time he left that guy was built like a tank and one of the fastest kids on our team. Anyone, and I mean anyone can become a better athlete. It's just how much you are willing to work to get there. If you don't know what a college S&C program can do for you physically and athletically, then I don't know what to say. I never said redshirting couldn't make you better, I said people have the athleticism they have and it can't go up or go down. Bullock had the ability, he just found out how to use it by good coaching and S&C. Don't tell me he all of a sudden got in line again and God handed him some more athleticism. That's BS!! He had it, and just needed to learn how to use it. You are not understanding the point. Not everyone is blessed with as much athleticism as others. You could take another guy who ran a 4.8 and by the end of it all, he may only be running a 4.75. Why?? Because he only had so much athletic potential. I didn't say redshirting was bad, I just said athletic ability is not something you can get more of or buy. Yes, hard work can help and athlete reach their athletic peak. You basically made my point for me.
  17. It doesnt matter if a player leaves after his JR year, redshirting gives a player a full year to get better without taking away a year of eligibility. I think redshirting is ALWAYS a great idea. A full year to study the playbook and go through strength and conditioning. Redshirting does nothing but make the athlete a better athlete. Redshirting has nothing to do about becoming a better athlete. If your blessed then your an athlete, and how much you are blessed determines what kind of athlete you are. If I could become a better athlete by practicing more, doing S&C, studying the playbook, then I'd be in the NFL. Athleticism isn't learned, it's a blessing. Some have it, some don't have as much. Now, I will agree redshirting helps a young kid build muscle and get a better handle on the playbook and get used to the speed of college football.
  18. We need to either hire a ST coach, or give a coach that specific designation. It can't just be all the coaches giving input and coaching it. ST's are very important!! How important?? Urban Meyer is the coach in charge of Florida's ST's!! Please put an emphasis on our ST's Bo!! That's my New Year's wish.
  19. That's funny, because I think ESPN should go back and breakdown Pryor again, because last night it looked like he would be a better WR who can run the Wildcat O. His throwing is horrible, his technique is WAY off. Seriously, if his throwing doesn't get better(esp if "The Vests" Defense goes down a little) he may have to switch positions and give QB to someone who can throw to him. JMO.
  20. Steinkuhler. Him stepping up and dominating guys across from him made the Offense not double team so much which is why we saw Suh dominate at the end of the year. Teams couldn't just gameplan against Suh only. I was really impressed with Ty this year at a position he was always undersized to play. He made up for it with quickness and unbelievable technique.
  21. You missed a couple. Joe Ganz - 2 stars Roy Helu - 3 stars Nate Swift - 3 stars Ty Steinkuhler - 3 stars I really think Steinkuhler was an under the radar difference maker this year. He really was in the backfield alot reaking havoc. If you watch him, his technique is great, which it has to be with his small size, but he can fit through tiny creases in the O-line to get in the backfield.
  22. Wow, what great faith you have in the Huskers. No chance to beat any ranked team huh? I seem to remember taking Texas Tech to overtime when we still playing pretty poorly. We could beat a whole bunch of ranked teams right now, with the way we are playing now. The only way back to the top is to play the best teams out there. padding our number of wins against lesser teams makes us like K-State. I wish we were playing G-Tech, because they are a much better team than Clemson or FSU. I'm having trouble understanding why some of you are scared to play a team we may not beat and won't be favored over?? We should want to be challenged as much as possible. Also, if we're gonna win, let's make it over a team that can help our perception Nationally and possibly get us ranked. I have no problem playing Clemson, but I'm just saying beating them is not gonna do anything for our perception. Take it as you want, but beating GT would look alot better!! And, I don't care if we are favored in a game or not, I go into every game knowing if we play hard we can win!!
  23. I by no means think clemson is a push over with the backfield they have. Also, they are one of the hottest teams in football right now. The only problem is perception. I'm sure Clemson thinks the same, like beating Nebraska isn't really going to help in perception of how good they are, just like us beating Clemson people will say that is what they are supposed to do being Nebraska and all. I am just saying beating a top 15 ranked team would have definitely helped with perception Nationally.
