  1. Staples has a column out now saying that the SEC has been in talks with A&M for months: LINK
  2. OK, sounds like we're on the same page. No worries.
  3. We need to remember not to swear on the main message boards, and that includes creative spelling of swearing to get around the filter. Use regular English to convey your thoughts, and if you feel the need to let loose, please go to the Woodshed and have at it. The Shed needs some new posts - it's been kind of boring lately. Smack talk that gets heated should go to the Shed as well. Everyone should read and abide by the Board Rules which are linked at the top of every page, just below your personal controls. Thanks, and have fun with the new conference!
  4. WHEN HAS AN INCOMPLETE PASS OUT OF BOUNDS EVER BEEN REVIEWED TO SEE HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD BE PUT ON THE CLOCK? It was a non-reviewable play but they did it for Texas since they (ran) the conference. They (were) the CEO/Chairman of the old big twelve!!!!! Never, only when it is Texas and they are not going to the BCS National Championship Game. Tom Osborne brought up this point at the Big 12 meeting in KC. Quote was something like, (I guess we need some new guidelines/rules on how we put time back on the clock for incomplete passes) I will look it up and edit this. I think the last straw was/were a couple things. All championship games to be in the state of Texas and not rotating them. All teams voting consistently with Texas and against NU. I think 11-1 was the common number on most votes involving Big 12 issues. How many people remember the 93 Orange Bowl against Florida State. It was 4th and long with a few secs left to play. Tommie Fraizer completes a pass to give the Huskers a 1st down and get in field goal range, but time had expired. The refs review the play and determine that 3 sec should be added on the clock. We kick a long field goal but we missed it. We lost the game 16 to 18, if we would of made that we would of won 3 mnc three years in a row and 4 of 5 years. The point is our Huskers got 3 sec added after the clock had expired and I heard no bitching about it. So please lets give this a rest. The reason were going to the Big 10 it is what is best for Nebraska. Even if we had beat Texas last year we are still gone. Here come those pesky FACTS again. You'll notice that all we will here now is crickets. Do yourself a favor and find some of the threads in which we discussed the CCG play back in December. You'll find that this was brought up several times in those conversations, with most folks agreeing that the situations were similar. Don't just assume everyone's a blind homer. We're pretty open-minded here. Not sure if you are talking to me or not, if so, what the heck are you talking about!!! I wasn't in anyway saying anyone is a homer, I was joking around thats all. I have been around about as long as you (obviously don't post as often) so I am quite aware of everyones open mindedness. Anyway, some Mods are a little to touchy at times, just an opinion. Perhaps I misunderstood your "crickets" comment. What did you mean by that?

  6. Colorado officially the first school to leave the Big 12. I will not miss playing those guys.
  7. Wait a second - you mean Iowa State beat Nebraska last year? I've never heard that before. Who knew?
  8. Oh yes, absolutely. That's the ONLY reason Nebraska is joining the Big 10. Because one second got put on the clock in the Conference Championship Game. That is 100% the only reason whatsoever this is happening. You're like the Amazing Kreskin. You just perceive things so clearly, it's like magic.
  9. This has been posted two or three times, but it's hard to find in the three dozen threads that are started every hour.
  10. I can't believe we're really having this conversation. Ignore individual teams - let's talk about which conference is consistently good, top to bottom. Don't pick out 2006 or 1994 and say "_______ Conference had umpteen great teams" because one-time instances prove nothing. Overall, most conferences are going to have 1-4 good teams, 3-5 mediocre teams, and 1-4 pretty bad teams. The ONLY conference that has, maybe, beaten those odds over a ten-year period is the SEC, and since nobody is pimping them in this conversation, most of what's been said is off the mark.
  11. You are correct, but these were the same kinds of denials that came out when it was reported that Steve Pedersen and Bill Callahan were fired, and when Bo was hired. The language doesn't say that we have not agreed in principle to join the Big 10. What they say is that they have not voted on it. The vote is a formality based on discussion held ahead of time. I deal with "plausible deniability" at my job every day. I am as skeptical as they come, but I will be stunned if 48 hours from now we're not headed to the Big 10.
  12. The Midwest Conference Everyone in the conference pretty much claims to live in the Midwest, right?
  13. Watching the Cubs game on ESPN and they just announced that Osborne had informed staff members today that we are going to the Big 10 and that it will be announced on Friday. If you know how much I hate unsubstantiated rumors, you'll know I'm not making this up. The Big 10 is N

    Recruiting

This same concern, over and over and over and over and over, and yet as has been pointed out dozens of times since expansion talk started, we recruit from states we're not affiliated with ALL THE TIME. Recruiting will not be hurt one iota. Not one bit. We have relationships built up with schools across the country, and these will not be tossed in the trash heap simply because we play in the Big 10.
  15. If we move (and I think we will) I think we'll be seeing a LOT of OOC games against Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, maybe Colorado, and Oklahoma once in a while. That would soften the blow quite a bit, and make for some awesome seasons.
  16. 1. As things stand now, do you prefer Big 12 or Big 10? Big 10 for academics as well as athletics, with integrity and unity thrown in for good measure. 2. If you switch, what will you miss most about the Big 12? Kansas, Oklahoma, the tradition. 3. If you switch, would you prefer the Big 10 go to 12, 14, or 16 teams? 12 would be less cumbersome. 4. If 14, who would you want to bring with you? Notre Dame and Kansas 5. If 16, who would you want to bring with you? Notre Dame, Kansas, Missouri, Syracuse and Pitt. 6. Which Big 10 school would you most look forward to playing in football? Any of the Big Three - OSU, Michigan or Penn State. 7. Which Big 10 school would you most look forward to playing in basketball? I do not understand the question. 8. What, if any, matchups in non-revenue sports would interest you? Nebraska vs. Penn State in women's volleyball. Russ Rose has built what is easily the best team in college volleyball over the past three years, but Nebraska is no slouch. Clashes between these teams will be epic. 9. Nebraska's first Big Ten title would be in which sport? Women's Volleyball 10. Where should a Big 10 championship football game be held? Indianapolis 11. (Because we can't count) What is something Big Ten fans should know about Nebraska that most probably don't? We're not inbred, corn-fed hicks. Most of us live in the two metropolitan cities in Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln. We're as modern as anyone else, and we know our football very, very well. And when you visit Lincoln, you will be treated very, very well, and that's no joke.
  17. Wouldn't that be awesome? The Big XII splits us up, but if we were to win our conference every year we could still play, and for all the marbles. Just like the old days. I hadn't thought of it that way. I feel a tiny bit better. Tiny. But, odds are they'll try to do a playoff now and squash that as well. Yeah, probably. All that means is we'll have to meet in the Finals. I have every confidence in OU football that they can compete successfully in any conference. This is a team with swagger going back over half a century. You guys aren't going to get pushed around in the Pac-10 or the SEC, no way.
  18. Wouldn't that be awesome? The Big XII splits us up, but if we were to win our conference every year we could still play, and for all the marbles. Just like the old days.
  19. That's it right there. There hasn't been a single whiff of interest from Nebraska in the Pac-10, and they aren't offering us, even though we make way more sense than Colorado. The reality is that we're going to the Big 10, and everyone involved in these decisions knows it.
  20. I hear ya, man. It's really crummy. The Oklahoma game was always, always the highlight of the season. Being in a conference without you guys won't be the same.
  21. You know there's room for you here, Fro. You've already got a seat at the table, and we'd welcome a change of hats with open arms. You're among friends here. It's OK.
  22. Huskernation20 got busted copying/pasting by HI Not true. There was concern, but there was no "bust." But yes, that is one of the situations that became public. There have been a number that haven't become public, and won't. But copyright holders are concerned with their copyrights because that's how they make money, and my experience is that they're becoming more vocal about use of their material. It's a long story, but suffice it to say that we'll be checking, as will outside parties. It's never OK to post paid content, and public content should always include a link to the source.
  23. That might mark the first time Nebraska and Texas vote the same since this conference started. They're not going to want to pay a penalty to the remainder of the conference if they bolt for the Pac-10 any more than we want to pay that penalty.
  24. Thanks, man. Nobody likes being the gestapo, but we have to watch it now because we're being watched. Thanks for understanding.
