  1. Agreed, all a "verbal" seems to be anymore is a target. Puts people on the map that others might have missed. A&M hadn't pursued Brown, then when he commits to NU, A&M jumps on him. Don't blame him, this is where he wants to be, and I wish him the best (except in 2010 & 2011 haha). Verbals mean nothing anymore.
  2. Let's just hope he doesn't pull an Eddie Brown. Welcome Will, glad to have ya!
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Watson really didn't have much control of the offense until the last few games of the year. I think it started against Kansas, where he was brought down onto the field to call the plays. I think the last few games showed more creativity from Watson than Callahand showed in 4 years. I was really looking forward to how Watson would run the offense. I truly believe he won't bolt, not this late, not with the responsibility he has been given. If he does, Norvell is out there, I'd feel better about him running our offense than Cotton.
  4. I just like the attitude. Instead of "Let's go out and try not to get blown out" as a coaching philosophy, Pelini will install these expectations in the team and I truly believe they will perform. Granted, I don't think we'll run the table, but we'll be in a position to compete and win every game. Pelini knows that there is talent on this team, but what it lacked was coaching and motivation. That will be taken care of and things will be back in place quickly.
  5. I would have never thought in my 32 years on this planet I'd ever hear someone saying they were happy to hear our offense would look like Kansas'. haha
  6. Had to look it up, 2008 USNews America's Best Colleges #44 - Texas #62 - Texas A&M #64 - Iowa (oops there goes one of your theories) #75 - Baylor #79 - Colorado #85 - Iowa State #85 - Kansas #91 - Nebraska #91 - Missouri #108 - Oklahoma #124 - Kansas State List only went to top 125, didn't bother to look in 2nd or 3rd tiers ??? - Oklahoma State ??? - Texas Tech
  7. Much agreed on the "handler" situation. Harper wants to play Quarterback, even though he would be much better suited playing several different positions. I don't think we need that drama again (i.e. Newcombe/Crouch).
  8. My thoughts exactly. My, how things have changed. On the other hand, I can understand being below CU and MU considering recent events...MU, especially. However, I will never...NEVER understand why a recruit would drop Nebraska from his list and put KSU at the top (Simi Kuli, rivals.com). I know he'll likely go to Oregon, but do us a favor and don't add insult to injury, man. It's Kansas State. Look how well it's turned out for Freeman haha
  9. Not that I have checked, but I have to believe that NU isn't the only school that has message boards for fans. As proved by an LSU fan that came on here to flame, there's idiots in every teams fan base across the nation, and I have a hard time believe that Colorado comes off squeaky clean when it comes to negativity from 100% of it's fan base.
  10. You forgot to add this after the word "fired". The only direction Callaclown had this team going is down.
  11. He just needs to schedule a visit either the day before, or signing day, seems he changes his committment to the last place he visits haha
  12. No chance getting this kid. His older brother just committed to the Univ. of Miami. Bryce has said he wants to move to wherever his brother goes to college "to find out what football outside of Wichita is". He will go to the highest bidder. When he was a freshman and his older brother was a soph, they made the rounds around the Wichita private schools trying to get a free ride.
  13. I think it's a little harsh to criticize Pelini's recruiting based off of what has transpired. The de-committing players were committed to Callahan's sales pitch, obviously not Pelini's. I have no ill-will towards any of the decommitts, having coached high school football and being involved in this process, the kids fall easily for what's promised to them. If Callahan was promising playing time and a stair step to the NFL, and Pelini is promising that if they work their butts off and earn the PT that they get, I know why the kids are going to somewhere that they'll be promised PT. And what gauge is recruiting anyway? As Callahan proved, you can have a top 5 class several years in a row, but if you can't coach them, what good are they.... I'm one for letting the next couple of years pan out before questioning his ability to recruit. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Read that earlier, I agree. I've become a big fan of his writing. It's very well thought out and researched, which is rare in this day and age.
  15. All these players that were former NU commits that are now going to CU, were they considering CU from the start, or did Hawkins look at NU's commit list and start wining & dining them? Seems odd to have so many recruits switch from NU to CU.
  16. I'm excited most about the upcoming year based off what you said. I truly think Bo will not only put our defensive players in the right places, but with completely change the mentality of this team to one that if you don't give 125%, someone else will and you'll be watching. There won't be a senior dominated team on the field, unless those seniors have truly earned the time their getting. That's exciting. There were a lot of people playing this year that wouldn't have been if Bo would have been here last year. I can't wait to see the effort & intensity pick up like the NU of old.
  17. I don't blame him for leaving Atlanta, but I would never hire him. 14 moves in 15 seasons? Longest stint 4 years. Ummm no. It's funny, if you're applying for a job making $30k a year, and have had more than 3 jobs in the last 5 years, people won't hire you, yet if you're a coach making in the $2 mil. ballpark and have had 14 moves in 15 years, you get a job.
  18. Excellent interview, I'm pumped already..
  19. don't worry, you'll get plenty of bo pelini websites... just wait. Why are you even on here? I've seen a couple of posts from you that have been on topic and informative, but the majority of your posts just seem to be trying to get people worked up. It's one thing to offer a different opinion, but you seem to try to get everyone into pissing matches.
  20. Whose the OC watson or cotton? Watson, Cotton will be a good OL coach, he's a better position coach than Coordinator.
  21. That's what I was thinking too. Next thing we know, Skersfan will resurface on here and reneg on his hatred for Pelini haha
  22. Wasn't Cook the booster that when Pedersen was fired, blasted NU and said he would never give another dime to NU?
  23. i think bo should roll. my opinion of bo aside, there's no "two weeks notice" in coaching, and i don't think there should be. nebraska hired him, he should start with nebraska starting last sunday. now, as a fan. for the sake of continuity, and because bo is responsible for better or worse i think it'd be good for bo to stay he's been the dc this far. being a dc is HARD HARD work, and playing in the nc game is the ultimate reward. i can't imagine how heavy that must be... "ive been here for 3 years, those 3 years culminate in an nc game, but i accepted another job" think about it. can you imagine having to make this decision? honestly, i think he'll stay and coach, i can't imagine him passing up that "resume material" and "reward" I agree, and I have mixed emotions on the deal. I don't blame him for wanting to coach in the NC game, and if he goes out and shuts down OSU and LSU wins the NC, that will only help out NU's cause even more, because every time you see Pelini on the sideline, he's going to be referred to as NU's head coach. That will get potential recruits that much more exposure.
  24. Harp, one question. In terms of coaching duties for the NC game, do you feel LSU is better off with or without Pelini coaching the defense? Les Miles has said he wanted him to coach.
  25. I actually was glad to see him a little nervous, it shows he's genuine. A far cry from the used car salesman (sorry I shouldn't insult used car salesmen) aka Bill Callahan speak we're used to from the last 4 years.
