I think A&M and Nebraska had a mutual respect, and that will be missed. Good luck wherever you end up.

I don't see why we should play Missouri or Kansas anymore. It is cool that we've played them for such a long time, but Nebraska dominated the series and it never felt like a rivalry game. There doesn't seem to be anything there to preserve.

All of these trophies have a rich history. We can't just create one for a created rivalry-- it would lessen the meaning of a rivalry and a trophy.

I listened to Commissioner Beebe's teleconference. I'm really shocked that he doesn't seem to have any plan to keep the Big 12 moving forward. The domino theory was that once NU, CU, or Mizzou made a move--then Texas and it's South Division counterparts would go to the PAC-10. Hello? Beebe? Call TCU, Houston, SMU, Southern Miss, Boise State?? Like Osborne said, losing 1 or 2 teams does not break up a conference-- so why no leadership from Beebe to say, "If we lose Teams A and B, we'll invite Teams C and D to replace them." But instead-- he goes foreward with no plans and allows the schools to venture out. He points out that the 10 remaining schools are economically viable and can get a network package, but he just doesn't seem to be acting aggressively like someone who needs to save his job.

This may signal that the Mountain West may want to move foreward as a BCS conference. Boise State is fighting for relevancy, and I don't think that they'd jump to another non-BCS conference unless that conference was set to expand.

Oh well..... we got the bigger trophy!

I'm really impressed with the overwhelming welcome by so many Big 10 fans. There seems to be a clear solidarity within the conference that is readily apparent--as is in the SEC. This didn't seem to be the case in 1995 when the SWC joined with the Big 8 and never really formed. Looking forward to some epic battles!

Academic integration with the Big 10 starts immediately. Athletic integration begins July 1, 2011. This is the last season of Big 12 football for Nebraska.

In the spring game, I thought that LaTravis Washington looked like the best QB on the team. My 71 year old father agreed. His throwing style reminded me of Frazier and he also just looks more like an option QB or mobile run/pass threat.

I agree that being at NU in '03, OU and LSU greatly helped Coach Pelini in his development. He's a great defensive coordinator who is learning to be a head coach. As the defense is perfected, I look forward to Pelini's offensive development. Because he has the defensive coordinator mindset, he knows what type of offense and players are difficult to stop. I hope in the coming years that he helps develop an offense like that.

When Mike McNeil goes in, and Nebraska is in a power formation, they are going to pass. When Mike McNeil goes out, and Nebraskas is in a power formations, it's a running play. Is Watson easy to figure out or what??!

9-3, a 75% winning percentage, seemed to be the benchmark throughout the Big 8 years because Nebraska typically played 11 regular season games, plus a bowl game. In the Big 12, we can have 13-14 games. 14 this year. Winning 9 of them is only a 64% winning percentage. So, we need to win 10 games to get close to that winning percentage, and win 11 games to narrowly exceed it.

I'm glad that there is no bye-week before the Texas game. It'll keep our guys fresh and the timing on track. Remember what happened after our bye week earlier this season?? The Texas Tech debacle.

I see a consensus among the "non-rivalry with CU believers" that a big reason why they disagree with labeling this game a rivalry game is because Bill McCartney handpicked Nebraska as the rival. Playing NU every year was a great measuring stick for building a program. Well, Colorado has reached the lofty heights that Nebraska has reached. They don't match us in overall history of accomplishments; only a handful of teams do, however they've won Conference Championships, they've won a National Championship, they've won individual player trophies and have put several successful players into the NFL. What other North Division team has done all this?? Heck, what other Big XII team has done all this? Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. Nebraska-Oklahoma wasn't a rivalry from game #1. Rivalries are developed and I think that NU-CU has definitely developed into a rivalry. They've ruined seasons for us, they've taken championships away and they ended our bowl streak. Our games fall under the cliche of "throw the records out" because over the last decade, the winner of this game is usually within 7 points. You can point at the fact that Colorado has been down the last few years, but heck-- we've been irrelevant in college football for nearly a decade now! NU-OU is a great rivalry. NU-CU is also a great rivalry. GO BIG RED! Beat the hell out of Colorado!!

Is that Snyder's style? My thought exactly. It's not in Snyder's nature to run trick plays. He'll have his team ready to play, but I still think Nebraska will blow them out.

It was definitely a big win. Oklahoma is the second best team in the Conference entering tonights game. But it all means nothing if we don't beat KU, KSU and CU. Unless we're playing in the Big XII Championship, this win will just fade as a good memory.

Since he didn't feel the need to come clean, I'm doing it for him. This hear-say stuff is just wrong. Especially when it's at the expense of somebody who is innocent. Nephew plays for NU? Yeah right. Prove it. With most people making this statement, I'd be like.. Ok sure.. But with you, you're an attention-seeking know-it-all who wants to act like the authority on everything. So who's your nephew?

It's hard to deal with the losses. Especially the ones that we could have, or are supposed to win. When Nebraska loses, I really try and focus on the fact that it's just a game and there will always be games. I remember the championships and the good times and just think about how slowly but surely, we're getting there. It'll happen for Nebraska again. Sooner or later, it's going to happen.

It's unfortunate that some of their business ventures didn't work out. It just goes to show that you can't just paint a red N on something and think that it'll work around here. It was just another sports bar with alot of Husker stuff, mediocre food and high prices.

A rivalry game is one that can never be questioned as to whether or not it is a rivalry. NU vs. OU has tradition but since they no longer meet every year and play for the same stakes as they played for in the Big 8 days, the rivalry label is gone. Again it's a game with tradition. But today, it's solely just a game, than it is a rivalry. Well, by your definition, then games like Wisconsin-Minnesota, or Notre Dame-Purdue, or Florida-Florida State, Florida-Miami, etc--- those shouldn't be rivalry games because they don't play every year either! Those schools would argue that because each of those rivalries are very real, and they even compete for some of college football's most storied "trophies". And what are the stakes? In many rivalries, the only thing at stake is bragging rights. Look at the downright hatred between Mizzou-KU fans. For years, bragging rights was all that mattered as neither team was relevant in the conference race. That didn't diminish the rivalry at all. Well, on the national stage, OU-NU is a rivalry. Why do you think ABC picked it for the primetime spot rather than any of the other spots? I'm not going to try and prove to you that it is is a rivalry, or that it isn't. You've shared your opinion, and I'm content with that. I've shared mine, and I'm content with that.

Comprehend much? As you can see it was not I that started this towards whether or not this is a rivalry. All I did was prove that it's not. Yes it is different this is a RIVALRY game. That makes all the difference! On top of being on National TV, will any players even remember last years A$$ whooping, do they even care! Preach wrong brother. Preach wrong. All you've done is proven that it's not a rivalry? Uh...no you haven't. Look- everybody is content with whatever anybody else wants to call this game. To the original poster: this was a great topic! I am very sad to see that it deviated towards whether or not OU/NU is a rivalry-a topic which was another thread. (gee thanks, Shamwow.) Nearly every week in college football, we see an upset. We see an underachieving team put it all together for one night against an unsuspecting opponent not ready for the fight. Why can't that be Nebraska for once?! I want to see Nebraska return the opening kick for a touchdown! I want to see the cameras shaking from the noise level at the stadium! On Oklahoma's ensuing possession, I want Nebraska to pick them off and run it in for another score! Then the place would be rocking! I just want to see these Huskers playing with so much heart, intensity and desire! Those 3 things have been propelling the underdog to victory countless times in college football!
