  1. That should send a message to the whole team that classes are important and that they are attending the U of N for that very reason. Everyone will work hard, both on the field and off of it, as well as in the classroom.
  2. Yeah, I saw that. They compared Turner Gill to TO. That is quite a compliment to Turner to be compared to TO IMO.
  3. Alot like the Mason Wald signing last year. An under the radar guy who the coaches loved enough to offer, but the recruiting services did not have much on him.
  4. IMO, Callahan knows how to run his offense. However, where he struggles, is actually teaching the young players how and why do do little things in the offense. That is where I think he struggled the most. He never actually taught the kids anything, he just had them run play after play after play and never stopped and told the kids why they were doing what they were doing. Some players can get better through repetition but some players need to know why to do something and how to do it.
  5. Plus another reason to get pretty F*in drunk during a football game.
  6. Why do we even need to call a team a rival. I want to win every game not just every game against one particular school. I hate losing to anyone and there is not one team out there that I hate losing to more than another. I hate Colorado fans, but I also hate Kansas fans, KSU fans, Missouri fans and a quite a few others that think that their programs are better than Nebraska.
  7. I think one thing that makes Swift and Peterson so good, is that they have had five years to work with Ganz. They all trust one another and they know what each one is capable of. I don't think that we should expect Green to come in and have the same rythem with Paul, Holt, or any of the other recievers. It takes time and a lot of route running in the summer and over the course of the year to gain that sort of rythem.
  8. I would also say both lines deserve massive credit for how they controled the game.
  9. I wouldn't think that they would burn a redshirt this late in the season. I think the defense did a pretty good job today. I didn't get to watch the game, but just by looking at the stats and seeing the long pass play which counted for about a fourth of their yards, then we did pretty good in my eyes.
  10. I have seen a couple of Colorado games and they are not impressive at all in any of the three aspects of the game. If we just take care of the ball and do what we do, we will win this game hands down, however if we have turnovers and penalties then we might have a little trouble.
  11. I was not too impressed with Lane today. He left plays hanging way too long. However, a win is a win, and I will listen to that all day long.
  12. Thank God for that. I can't stand the guy or anything else that is related to K'state.
  13. They both do alot for the offense. Plus no matter who starts, all three backs are going to get carries.
  14. Lucky is a ball player, he may not be a powerback that Nebraska is used to having, but he is going to leave as a top five player for total yards. That to me, does not represent "bust" at all. Some people must think that because he was a five star recruit, that he should of won the Heisman trophy and had at least two 2000 yard rushing seasons. There are not too many players even capable of putting up those types of numbers, so I wouldn't call someone that does not reach those milestones a bust.
  15. I think we can run against this defense but we are going to have to attack from many different angles and looks. If we can run out of the spread and out of our three tight end formations, I think that will help our offense. Hopefully, Watson will also use a couple of different screen plays to slow down VT's pass rush.
  16. Doesn't he have to wait until the end of the season to apply for the medical redshirt. He does meet the requirements but I didn't think that the NCAA grants those until the offseason.
  17. I would say that Missouri is more like Buff Bagwell. Both think they look way better than they really are, plus neither of them have won anything at anytime.
  18. Our O-line did look better with Murtha out there. I don't know if Andy will be ready to go for VT but maybe he can get in there for a series or two and help out with the rotation. I think with him and Murtha back, we should have a very strong line come conference play. Hopefully everyone stays healthy.
  19. Vt is a good team but not a great team. Their defense is what will keep them in the game. Our offense will have to have a good day for us to win. Taylor is not that good of a quarterback and IMO does not require a spy. Just play assignment football and put pressure on him through blitzes and mixing up the defense. One part of the game that everyone is overlooking is the special teams. VT is very good at blocking punts and field goals. We need to be sound in these area and not let them get cheap scores on us. IMO, we are the better team but we need to play our best to beat them. They will not lay down for us.
  20. Well I at least feel confident that Bo and Carl will be working with Larry and the other DB's and defensive players and working on their tackling during the week.
  21. I think Lucky needs to touch the ball more during a game to be more effective. I don't think they all need to be handoffs, but he should touch the ball at least 12-15 times a game. The guy has talent, he may not be a power runner between the tackles, but he needs to have his hands on the ball to make plays. I also do not like the argument that Helu should start because he has been more effective behind this line than Lucky has. That argument, could mean a change along the o-line before a change in the backfield.
  22. Congrats to TY and the coaching staff for recognizing his play. I didn't actually notice that he had the game that he did. The D-line is always an unsung hero if they are not getting sacks. But anyways, congrats to Ty, in which was, do I dare say, a Blackshirt performace.
  23. IMO, we did not show very much in the running game. We ran a couple of zone reads and a few different options out of the shotgun formation. Then it looked like we just ran two or three different lead plays from under center. My guess is we ran about six or seven different running plays from different formations throughout the game. In the fourth quarter, it looked like we just tried to get the oline comfortable and familiar with running the zone read or lead plays. I think we will see more variety going forward and more success as well.
  24. Hopefully we can get some people healthy so that a player doesn't have to play all the snaps. A good rotation should help our young secondary.
