  1. Solich's famous road trip to Omaha to visit the Crouch family. I kinda view that as an early symptom that Solich was losing his grip on the team (including coaches), if he ever really had a good one in the first place.
  2. They were told Saturday evening, so this would be the second day...
  3. A basic inside zone run. Followed a play or two later by Martinez taking it to the house.
  4. I've been saying all off-season that we've got the guys to have a scary D-line, if they're actually allowed to play that way. Though as much as anything, it might be an indication that the O-line still has a long way to go to recover from Cav & co.
  5. I'll be at Sam's Boat here in Austin, watching with the rest of the Capital of Texas Nebraskans.
  6. The difference between the two systems is that Diaco says "Don't give up the big play," while Chinander says "Go make a big play of your own." Passive vs aggressive. Chin also kinda shrugs at the 3-4 label - he thinks it's kind of a silly distinction.
  7. Leave that song to Virginia Tech. And if we change the song, I'd still prefer something that's not so old. Sirius was about 12 years old when we first started using it, while Enter Sandman is now 27 years old.
  8. @GSG Just water. Spraying is really just for moisture, anything you spray on is going to be in too small quantity to really contribute much to the flavor.
  9. @GSG Yeah, I'm not too fond of brushes and mops, for just that reason. Sauces I usually just spread with a butter knife or something, and if I want more moisture I use a spray bottle.
  10. @GSG I notice that the bark is really uneven on those ribs, and pretty thin on most of the rack. Did you try to brush a sauce or mop on, and end up lifting off part of the rub or something?
  11. I was just looking at the 247 in-state history a few days ago. One other thing I noticed is that if we get Chris Hickman and everybody committed signs, this will be the first year where we signed all five of the top in-state players, as far back as 247's records go (2002). Since Callahan's first class, there's only been two years where we even signed 4 of their top 5 in-state prospects: 2014 (#2-rated Harrison Phillips went to Stanford, and then to the Buffalo Bills) and 2010 (Solich snagged #3 Bryce Dietz for Ohio).
  12. Not a single 'OR' on the O-line. Ozigbo the only returning RB on the list. I'm not surprised to see him on the list, but I wonder if his position will be reflected in his number of carries, given that they said they intend to use him as the goal line guy.
  13. I'm wondering if the gates are just unfinished. The old ones looked pretty cool, the blank bars currently there not so much.
  14. He joins Sean Callahan on the list of guys with unfortunate last names.
  15. Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?
  16. Tell that to everyone talking about Martinez...
  17. I've got a new possible scenario for you... you're desperately searching for a way to keep your head from exploding in case Martinez isn't named the starter ahead of the Akron game.
  18. Thank You Scott Eichorn indeed!
  19. Monday was the first day of class at UNL, right? Any word if he attended? Because I'm pretty sure that's what determines whether he burned the scholarship or not. This is like Derrion Grim a couple years ago - he dropped after a single day of class, burning a scholarship that could have been given to a walk-on. Those are the guys that piss me off - it's not just a 'f#&% you' to Nebraska, it hurts someone else that the scholarship could have went to instead. All in a difference of a single day.
  20. The shock value of Ohio State depends heavily on whether Urban Meyer is still coaching them when we play them. Sounds like they may have already made up their minds, but the official announcement of his fate won't come until Wednesday.
  21. @KingBlank It might not have been nearly as awful as under Riley, but Dobson's program was... not great. If I had to guess, those dumbbells were probably the same then as they were under Riley - after all, the last major upgrade of the weight room was under Bo, just after Suh left. (also, whatsoever is one word)
  22. @teachercd Or maybe the staff doesn't play favorites like some here clearly do, and just want the best player to start, whoever it might be?
  23. Riley might not have been making Gebbia work hard, but I think Gebbia was doing plenty of that on his own. If he doesn't get the starter job, I don't think it will be for a lack of effort on his part.
