  1. If he plays, I'd say Stanley Morgan for first TD, but I believe his status is still up in the air, isn't it? Tackle: Luke Gifford
  2. Yeah, looks like the biggest difference in our schedules are Michigan State vs Oregon. Both of them took a nosedive last year, so who knows what they'll be like this year. We play Penn State on the road, though, while Iowa gets them at home.
  3. It sure isn't. I hope we don't find out that Riley was in fact just an average coach. If Gary Anderson wins 9 games at OSU this year...well Well WHAT? I have talked to several OSU fans and not one has said that Riley was a bad coach - most say that things had just gone stale and it was time for a change. MR is not showing any signs of being stale at NU. You seem to show signs that you want Riley to be average.... The current recruiting shows that the players see no signs of average around the NU program. Hoping that we see more success on the field this season-because that will take the recruiting to a higher level and should quiet some of the doubters!!!! Well, this is what. See, many many many Husker fans are holding on really hard to the idea that Riley worked miracles at Oregon State and that basically no one could accomplish what he accomplished there (Even though Dennis Erickson did even better) so now if Gary Anderson starts winning at Oregon State it will sort of destroy the thing that many Husker fans are holding near and dear. So for the most part, us Husker fans do not want to see Gary Anderson turn Oregon State into a consistent 9 win team. Now...if Riley starts winning here and winning big then no one will care at all what Anderson does. Question: at this point, why does anyone still give a sh#t about what Riley did at Oregon State? It was obviously a good topic for debate when he was first hired, and I was among the more vocal ones about hiring a .500 coach from a bottom-feeder school, but now, a few years later? I'm really only concerned about what Riley is doing at Nebraska, and I sure as hell don't care what Gary Anderson is doing right now!
  4. Beck actually admitted that he'd sometimes set them up and set them up and then forget to call the play he was setting them up for.
  5. Keyshawn Sr. be all like With behavior like this, I hope it wasn't, shall we say, Miami-style recruiting...
  6. Good to hear that Keyshawn Sr ain't just letting this sh#t slide. What I'd really like to know is whether any players have been getting on their teammates' asses about getting their sh#t together. Any juco WRs available this close to the season?
  7. Does Terry Joseph get some kind of award for making it that long?
  8. ^ I still feel like Michigan's Tier 1 status is as much Harbaugh hype than actual performance on the field. Are they ahead of Wisconsin because they're a better team, or because the names 'Michigan' and 'Harbaugh' are attached? Last year's matchup could easily have went either way. OTOH, I have my doubts about Wisconsin as well. The article in the OP says "the defense won’t drop a lick"? Really? They've got depth to take over from last year's leaders, but do they have serious stars? Plus even if the scheme is the same, they're going to be breaking in a new DC this year - and unlike Il Diaco, their new DC has only been a coach for one freaking season and has never called a play before. And have people forgotten how weak their offense was last season? They were #89 in total offense. Then again, their biggest asset is probably their pillow-soft schedule. We're pretty much their only major road game, and Michigan (at home) is their only opponent that will start the season ranked.
  9. Probably the biggest difference between us and outside observers is that deservedly or not, we're putting a whole lot of faith in Lee being a big upgrade over Armstrong. Stronger QB play can make the WRs look better, and hopefully open things up more for the RBs as well. (I suspect that the depth charts for WR and RB will be tentative, though.) But yeah, the biggest question on this team has gotta be the o-line. A group that's had a lot of problems and doesn't have Armstrong's legs to bail them out anymore? Yikes. Will getting a couple guys back from injury and a few redshirt freshman be enough to save Cavanaugh's job?
  10. It's free, with free food. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/nebraska-football-announces-three-free-summer-fan-fests-to-show/article_fc37308a-4bd2-11e7-b9fe-bf7bb22231f2.html
  11. ^ They rebranded that as the the Big Ten Academic Alliance last year: http://www.btaa.org/about/expansion/name-change-faq
  12. Yeah, I don't think it's all that surprising, just kinda sad...
  13. Nebraska Not Even Listed In The Biggest Rivalries In College Football
  14. ^ Then again, I'd take a loss to Iowa over a loss to Purdue....
  15. Looking at an article from PAC-12 territory from a few months ago: Hate to break it to you guys, but it looks like it's gonna be more like a $20 million deficit.
  16. Probably some merit to this. Anyone born before 90 would be young enough to remember OU as the true rival, any time after that and I don't think the OU rivalry holds the same weighting as we were playing them every 2-4 years. A lot of this is true on the other side as well. OU fans that are too young to remember the Switzer era mostly just think of Texas as their rival, not Nebraska.
  17. Just going by what's been shown on the field to date, I would say that Michigan State has been our best rivalry in the B1G. It's been an entertaining series - crazy comebacks, big upsets, and heartbreaks. Too bad they're not in the same division as we are. I don't think it's the case that Nebraska fans won't accept anyone not named Oklahoma as a rival. Remember how when we first joined the Big Ten, we had Penn State as a protected cross-division opponent? Quick survey: how many of you would rather have Penn State as the annual regular season-ending matchup, and how many would rather stick with Iowa? And does anyone think that the game would ever be stuck on Fox Sports 1 if it were against Penn State?

  19. Tangentially related, but I still wonder if Tressel might get back into coaching. The sanctions against him expired at the end of last year. I know he said he's done, but if the right school offered to back a Brinks truck up to his door...
  20. That number will probably go down a lot this season...
  21. That's kinda how I feel about 2011 Ohio State. Epic comeback, but it was against a 6-7 team..
