  1. Welcome, and great first post! I myself have found new respect for the Clemson fanbase. A local sports radio show here interviewed Dabo this week and I was impressed. He reminds me of Bo Pelini a lot. I think Clemson made a great hire when they chose him. I too will be following Clemson more closely.
  2. No - he reduced the numbers, and possibly made the walk-ons feel unappreciated, but he never killed the program. And DaveH was being sarcastic, as Callahan awarded at least one walk-on a scholarship, as I recall (although I can't recall who). Dane Todd, I think it was. Brandon Rigoni was a walk-on that finally got a scholly correct? Or did he ever get a scholarship?
  3. I'm not saying that Suh is the best DL in the country or anything. But, if he had played for UT or OU he would be getting a lot more attention IMO.
  4. Well, to start Colorado, Kansas State, Iowa...
  5. If NU was 11-1 he would be 1st team Big XII. There is so much bias these days that the post season awards have gotten almost pointless. Its like, "Ok player 1 had 6 sacks, 60 tkls, 1 fumble recovery, and he played on an 11-1 team. Ok, player 2 had 13 sacks, 72 tkls, 1 fumble recovery, 2 int's returned for TDs, and he played on an 8-4 team. Both players are in the same conference and play pretty close to the same schedule. Well, player 1 must be better because his team is better." It's the same way all over the country. If Suh keeps progressing at the rate he is, he will be a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft just like Wistrom and Peter were. But he won't get the national recognition unless the team makes some noise next season. You mean like Chris Long last year? What are you getting at? Figure it out. Was Long's team 11-1? Yet he managed to make All-America and win the Hendricks award. For the Heisman, you're right. For anything else, not so much. Well then why don't you help me out and tell me why Suh wasn't 1st team All Big XII when he had better stats than all but one of the players chosen ahead of him. Chris Long is one example and every year there are many more players that have better stats than the players that were chosen over them and simply were not picked because they didn't play for a school that was a contender. And the players that get looked over are ones that are in the same conferences as the ones who do get chosen.
  6. Here is something interesting. You don't hear a whole lot about Daniel, Reesing, or White going to the NFL. Who do you hear going to the NFL? People like Josh Freeman. "Woah he is bad!" Blah blah blah. Josh had no talent around him but he knows how to play the pro-style quarterback position. Here is what I think is going to happen. You guys ready for this? Defenses are recruiting smaller, lighter guys to play on defense in order to combat the spread attack. You can't have 250 lb. linebackers in your nickel and dime formations because they will get burnt badly. GT is way ahead of the curve. You see how they've been lighting people up? They have a running triple option attack that is devastating all those lightweight backs on defenses. The teams that catch onto this and bring back power running games are going to be ahead of the curve and start creating very powerful offenses. I couldn't agree with you more. The power game is going to come back. Just look at some of the current teams, OU's line is huge and not only can they run the ball with power they can pass block extremely well. This is why they are unstoppable, as the saying goes, "It all starts up front". With everyone going to smaller and faster defenses it makes too much sense to go big and powerfull and wear defenses out. The smaller D's just won't hold up to the pounding. And YES, the option would still work in today's game. It all comes down to one thing, execution.

  9. NU- 35 Clemson- 31 Rush- 228 Pass-298 Let's end this thing right boys!
  10. Besides, Husker fans and Bo are about the same when it comes to emotions when winning or losing. It's a perfect fit! I mean think about it, when NU has a big play that is good, we all jump up and down and act like Bobby in "Water Boy" SLAP HAND! SLAP HAND! But when we are playing like crap or give up a big play, we get real mad and spit when we say the words our mommas slap us for. Like I said, it's a perfect fit!
  11. I felt the same way until I stopped and thought about the situation a little more. Yes, Watson and Gilmore stayed but we brought in 3 new coaches on offense this season. Add the fact that Watson never had full control of the O under Callllahan and realistically it was going to take some time to get some consistency on that side of the ball. Watson has done one hell of a job this year.
  12. Roll this around in your skulls for a moment. Look what Suh has become in under 1 season under the Pelini bros' guidance. There were coaches from the U.S Army all-star game that Baker was in that said that in practices Baker was getting double and triple teamed and was hardly slowed down. Glenn Dorsey played under Pelini for 3 years and won the Outland Trophy. Bo has Baker from his true freshman season and on to mold this manchild into one of if not the most dominant DTs in the county in the coming years. I hope he stays on D.
  13. Ze, that's only because of the rules the Big XII has that the announcement has to wait until Sunday. It's pretty much a done deal.
  14. This was such a bad move by Auburn. Tubberville is a good coach. I know they say he resigned but we all know how that works. With them losing all the commits already I see Auburn struggling for awhile now. Tubberville had won alot of games there and should have been given at least another season or two. How many times did his teams knock off a UF or LSU, plus winning 6 straight until this season in the Iron Bowl against Alabama. Bad move, bad move.
  15. Just think what this board would have been like if we hadn't made a bowl. Rumorville anyone No kidding. The 'skers need to earn back the respect that we once had, nobody's going to give it to us. We were spoiled for a long time as fans and now we are seeing what it's like on the other side of the fence. But, give it time and no one will want to play us again.
  16. I'm fine with Clemson in the Gator Bowl. Hell, after the last four years you would be crazy not to be. I'm not saying we as fans shouldn't demand more but for the position this team is in a New Years Day bowl is a huge step. Be thankfull for what you have, damn.
  17. I played against Branden Koch OL from Gothenburg throughout junior high and highschool. We only mixed it up a few times though him being on the line and me being FB/LB. He was a pretty strong kid just not real quick.
  18. I think Dijon pretty much said it himself, Oregon State is average every year. It's obvious that NU is on the rise back to the elite. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Stay committed Dijon, you won't be sorry.
  19. I just googled "Texas Longhorn message boards" and took pot shots at whatever looked good. There is some funny stuff, some UT fans think that they are so much above everyone else. The only thing missing was a fidle playing in the background on some of their posts.
  20. This is good news, welcome Kevin!
  21. Not sure what you mean there.... He means don't move this thread because it has meaning to Husker football.
