  1. Yeah, I know. But we can't spread the field like this, if we have no downfield threat. Scott knows this, right?
  2. I see what you're saying, but we've only seen zone/stretch blocking. Let's turn them loose with some one-on-one drive blocking and a lead back. We're running into free-running unblocked defenders, because we have big strong kids that don't know who they're supposed to be blocking. Give them one guy. One job. Give our running back a lead blocker. Right now we're just running into unblocked defenders.
  3. Can't have a high snap from under center.
  4. I am a broken record, but I'll say it again. We need to run I. At least half the time. Our offensive line is pretty big and deep. Make their job easy with hat for hat blocking. Mills/Allen/Scott at FB. Wandale/Sevion/Rahmir at I-back. ISOs, FB trap, Toss, Counter, Flanker (Betts) Around, Belly and Reverse Option. Play Action from all of this, Waggle, Bootleg, etc. We all like Luke, but he can't throw that well. Let's make his and everyone else's jobs easier, move the chains, control the clock, and help out what seems to be an improving defense. I'm not only saying this as someone who longs for the power football of old. This is just logic. Luke is not a MacKenzie Milton or Marcus Mariota. He can't throw the ball downfield to covered receivers. He's a Crouch, Mickey Joseph, Mike Grant. We CAN'T run spread if we can't throw the ball downfield. You know it, I know it, hopefully Frost knows it. We can, however, throw it up for a wide open tight end after a play-action fake. But yeah, good win.
  5. I apologize if anyone inferred my statements as trying to minimize the severity of covid. I was absolutely being ignorant and wrong concerning covid's lethality among young people vs that of the flu. Hopefully Mertz and the other infected Badgers are asymptomatic. I really hope it doesn't spread among our beloved Huskers. Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone else know of a youtube hooper called 'The Professor'? He's an incredible player, early-30's with a huge following, and he caught covid two months ago. He was sick for more than a month, but luckily has come through okay. However, he's struggling to get back in shape, gasping for breath out on the court, due to the infection- a month later. I hope this vaccine is legit, and comes out soon.
  6. That's not what I'm seeing, and I don't see how it's ignorant.
  7. It's not as bad for 18-22 year old kids, mortality rate not a lot higher than that of influenza. One could also argue that while the stresses of college life and athletics are higher, these young men are also in peak physical condition, with stronger immune systems to ward off nearly all viruses. Speculation, of course, and doesn't account for anyone older they may come into contact with. I would never presume to minimize the seriousness of covid, but this isn't the Spanish Flu, where mortality rates were highest among the college age range.
  8. Yeah, you're right. Maybe not faster, but he runs in a similar, tough way - unafraid of contact.
  9. This is basically how Auburn and Cam Newton won the national championship in '10.
  10. Agreed on all points. I was really referring to Crouch's years, which, by definition, were better. Yes, I know the college football landscape has changed, and maybe we can't be a power running/option team ever again. But a guy can dream, right? I mean, if we're young and inexperienced at receiver, maybe run more I? The O-line moved an elite, albeit young defensive line yesterday pretty well at times. What I wouldn't give to see Thompkins on a counter-sweep or take an option pitch. I'm just saying, we'd be kind of like Wisconsin and Iowa, but different with the threat of the QB run.
  11. A little off topic, but I loved the I Belly Option. Pretty much successful every time. Mills isn't quite fullback size, but hits the hole hard enough to be a threat, opening up the keep/pitch. We need to be different, and old-school power I option would be totally unique in the B1G. McCaffrey looks even faster than Crouch at times... Forgive me, I was just dreaming of better days...
  12. From what I read, it was still somewhat unclear. If we are guaranteed a bowl, that's great, but I hope we don't limp into one with 2 or 3 wins.
  13. Like I thought, 4-4 at best, hopefully a bowl, however that's figured out. I like Frost, and I don't think he will ever be on the hot seat in Lincoln. But seeing the Nebraska 'N' get mashed into the turf for 6 straight seasons is getting old. We did look better in some ways, but ball security is a real issue. The next game is one of the most important games in recent Husker history. Lost to a bad Purdue team last year, failed to make a bowl - again. Recruiting seems to have gone pretty well, but there is zero momentum on the field. Something has to happen, someone has to step up, or God knows when Nebraska football will resemble anything close to relevance again.
  14. This one is bad. I'd want any Husker coach removed on the spot for it.
  15. Not sure where to put this, but there's trouble in paradise, otherwise known as Iowa City. SEVERAL former players are calling the coaching staff out, namely Doyle, but also, Brian Ferentz, which may be a big deal... [of note are the plethora of Iowa fans defending some pretty concerning incidents, borderline racist, from Doyle and others]
  16. What is Frost supposed to do, short of paying him? It's not like the ball never came his way. I think it's ludicrous to lay this at Frost's feet after everything that has happened.
  17. Nebraska will be successful with Scott Frost as head coach.
  18. Emmitt Smith's son chose another school over Florida. It happens. Frost moves on and so do we.
  19. In other news, a 3 star athlete just decommitted from Iowa, so it's not just happening to us. So that's nice, I guess.
  20. We've offered more kids for 2022 than the rest of the B1G West combined. Is this an effective strategy? Desperation? Will we lose out on kids because we're recruiting so many?

I was instructed to attack Oregon, another Michigan territory. You?

    CFB Risk

I was instructed by the Husker Risk Discord to attack Oregon, which is controlled by Michigan. Aren't we allied with them?
  23. What? How are they practicing when no one is allowed on any campus or sports facilities?
  24. God help us if the season is cancelled this fall. The sooner we can play games and hopefully win some of them, the less the cloud of Joe Burrow will hang over Lincoln like a toxic fart. Anyone and everyone that has even a tiny axe to grind with UNL and/or Frost is pointing and laughing now, burying the Big Red in schadenfreude. Iowa fans can't get enough of it. It's just one more lesson Frost has learned the hard way here: say as little as possible to or around reporters, because they took what was actually an innocuous question and turned it into the biggest out-of-context dunk I can remember. Trey Wingo has earned the title of Biggest ESPN Douchebag, a big accomplishment for that organization.
  25. Eric Crouch with a clutch bomb to Johnny Rodgers near the end of regulation is so weirdly awesome.
