  1. Have you ever had a giant dusty muffin? https://vimeo.com/24423906 Christ on a crutch,,,,, just leave it alone.
  2. In the mid 70s I ran track for Wayne State (NE). There was a dirt track under the stadium that we ran on when the weather was too bad. To hold the dirt down they spread oil on the track and it smelled so bad we used to get bad headaches and rashes. Might explain the extra head I have growing out of my shoulder. Old Doc Simpson loved long distance runners. Sprinters like me he had no idea what to do with so we ran distances in practice as well. Have to guess that was not the best training.......
  3. This is a major NCAA violation which would have the Husker program in deep trouble! Fans can't get into recruiting and certainly spending any money or giving any benefits, help, fictional jobs, etc,
  4. Fortunately, everyone who has posted agrees with a suspension, including me.
  5. Cross and Jano were given huge roles last year particularly compared to how the prior staff used them.......was that just a shot at the current staff? Otherwise it makes no sense,
  6. This Yup. Not all dissenters are being seminar trolls but some are cuz it's just how they roll. It would kill them to say something flattering about the current staff without a snarky caveat attached to it.
  7. Did rotating offensive lineman help the last regime? I thought the o-line under the former regime had plusses and minuses. It definitely wasn't as consistent as we all would have liked. My point on Cav is that the old line of "Well, this is how I have always coached linemen" gets old. TBF, Cav's outlook on rotation is not unusual. Brendan Stai saw it both ways in the pros, both with lots of rotation and with minimal rotation, and he found advantages and disadvantages in both ways of doing things. Personally I would like to see more rotation but the way Cav is doing it is not uncommon in the pros.
  8. Maybe I'm missing the sarcasm but it sure seems some folks are confusing the chancellor job with the DLine coach position.
  9. Sweet Jesus. Stop. For the love of God, just stop. BTW, Melvin Gordman just scored........again.
  10. And when Osborne couldn't beat OU from 73 to 78 you would have assured us that he was a loser who couldn't win jack.
  11. While I would like to give your thoughts serious consideration I automatically discard them because you are so single-minded and negative about this staff. You may think you are balanced, but no, you're not and that disqualifies you and a few others from inclusion in rational discussion of the program. And no, I have nothing against you and this is not personal. You focus on 6-7 and Purdue. I focus on the direction of the program and any impartial evaluation sees two distinct phases of the game and season of a new staff and at least partially poisoned mindset: the season prior to the last four games and the season of the last four games. Two different directions. That's what I focus on. Unlike you I am willing to give the new staff three or four years before making decisions. You....hell, I think you did that when Riley was named HC.
  12. I knew it. Our DBs coach is a stinkin' apostrophist Reported.
  13. Tell me you forgot the sarcasm emoji. Doing whatever it takes to get a high ranking? Well, hell, just break out the cash and chicks and call us SMU. Whats he done that's illegal? No different than Franklin and his satellite camps. IIRC, Harbaugh is trying to have part of Michigan's spring camp at IMG academy in Florida. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/1/10/10747118/jim-harbaugh-michigan-spring-practice-img-academy-florida-satellite-camps No different than "McShane owning twitter". No different than Oregon and their different uniforms each week. In this day and age, coaches are doing everything to bridge the gap with the kids (18 year olds) and connect. He is doing whatever it takes to relate to the kids. I haven't heard anything illegal, immoral or dishonest. I stand by my original comments that if NU was doing this, and we had a top 3 class, I can't imagine any complaining. I never mentioned "illegal" and neither did you in the post I responded to. My concern remains with the concept that Nebraska would stoop to the borderline unethical things Harbaugh has done (spending the night at a kid's home so he can wake up there in the morning. Is that one official visit, or it is two? But in the larger sense I would rather lose than adopt this mentality to recruiting at Nebraska: "...So a guy who does what ever it takes has the #3 recruiting class in the country and thats a bad thing?" Ya, that's a bad thing. Not IMO. He doesn't do anything unethical or shady who cares if he looks like an a$$ clown doing it. You can't argue with his results. He is going toe to toe with Urban for the #1 recruit class in the B1G. Think things are hard to recruit now? Wait until it becomes a 3 horse race year in and year at with MSU, OSU and Michigan. We complain about lack of talent. About getting the pipe line back. About depth. Getting the difference makers. Guess what. JH is. In year 2. After going 10-3 without his guys, with a Iowa transfer at QB and like NU and its last 2nd miscues, was a fluke play away from being 11-2 (MSU). We want to win. We need to get more stars. Thats plain and simple. The coach em up philosophy is great. If you have some elite talent around them. We have had 1 OL all conference in like the past 10 years IIRC. Thats not getting it done. TO's class ranking. Who cares. We had partial qualifiers, much larger schoolies available. Oh and we were in the hunt year in and year out for the conference at a minimum. And the MNC every few years.... AND THE GREATEST COACH TO EVER COACH THE GAME. Not to mention, elite S&C program, all world facilities and an offensive and defensive identity. Not to mention a staff that was as adapt at in game transitions as they were to whole scale schematic changes. To add, look at Dabo at Clemson. He whips, he dabs, he has a pizza party for the whole university. The kids and parents seem to love "it" and him. They seem to be doing pretty well on the recruiting trail as well. Oh, and they are also winning. A lot. Bottom line, we can agree to disagree. The number of articles pounding Harbaugh's recruiting tactics increase daily and now include some writers who cover MU. I really can't understand why you can't see the guy is a ticking time bomb. He craps himself most places he goes. Can I argue with his results? Yah, but that's just me. How about the kids who have been committed to MU for a long time who have been cut loose two weeks before NSD? Yeah, sign good old NU up for that. And as for Harbaugh going 10-3 with kids he didn't recruit? How about apples to apples? (SOURCE: Rivals) https://rivals.yahoo.com/michigan/football/recruiting/teamrank/2013/all/all Team Recruiting Rankings MU NU 2011 21 15 2012 7 25 2013 5 17 2014 31 32 MU beat NU every year that Hoke recruited and that is what Harbaugh and Riley inherited. If you go back to2011 it's the same thing. How in the hell anyone can lay this at Riley's doorstep is beyond me other than a pathological hatred of Riley and his staff. And as for Sweeny, he and Pelini were hired the same years. Look what Sweeny did with recruits and look what Pelini left Riley. And I don't think Sweeny had to deal with a poisoned atmosphere when he showed up......Riley did. My bottom line is I do not want to win at any cost. Anyone who does sure does not NU tradition.

  16. lol Michigan's class is ranked 3rd in the country (2nd in the B1G). Nebraska is 32nd in the country (6th in the B1G) behind football powerhouses like Duke and Kentucky. Ya, and things will never change.......
  17. Don't blame Buster. He's not the brain trust who took a thread to the dumper. And while we're at it, you're pretty predictable yourself. HB has gotten to the point where all I need to do is look at the title of a thread and I already know the usual suspects will be in there dumping on Riley, SE or the 2015 season. Take a couple of things to the bank: We know what you're going to say......you've said it a thousand times. It wasn't intuitive the first time you said it and just like a three day fish, it hasn't gotten better with time. Most of us know the 2015 needed to be better and that games were lost that shouldn't have been. WE..............GET...............IT. You DO NOT come off smarter by saying it yet again.
  18. Whew, for a moment I was afraid that we could go a whole day without some really original puking on the 2015 season. Hey, for a switch let's trash SE......oh. How about the Purdue game? oh, yeah. I know, some bright out-of-the-box mendicant can dump on the staff! .....well, it was an idea.
  19. How could we have had him a long time ago? He didn't take any visits during the season and really hasn't said much about where he wants to go till the last few weeks. He wasn't going to commit till he was ready. Unless you are talking about kidnapping him to get him to Lincoln? Ummm....Actually he did visit on October 10 for Wisconsin game. He is Omaha native. Lives within 500-mile radius. My point is, a recruiting profile like Isaiah Simmons is someone Nebraska should be able to land EVERY year. Not saying we wont still. Just saying the fact that a Clemson offer less than 3 weeks before NSD could be the turning point in the recruiting process is really frustrating. We've already gone 0/2 on the Kansas trio, really would like it to not be 0/3. Especially if this coaching staff is really emphasizing the "500 mile radius" Reported for unnecessary quote abuse.......sunshine. Hahahaha ABUSE? Are you for real? You had no part in this conversation. My lord, people's sensitivity these days is pathetic. Why yes indeed, I have reported scads of miscreants like yourself who have callously abused quotes. And your momma wears combat boots.

  21. There are those who will piss and moan about a NC because the weather was too nice. Don't need to guess who they are.
  22. I'm not saying we should linger on Pelini. I'm saying that, similar to lessons we should have learned after the Solich/Callahan debacle, we as a fanbase need to understand the value of what we have in a coach. That means not writing accomplishments off with "anyone could do that here" arguments and dismissing concerns with the litany of excuses we saw in '04 and '05 (no buy-in, no talent, new system, etc etc etc). I've said before: one of my big fears is that Riley gets NU back to 9/10 wins a season and we go ahead and fire him anyway. To me, that would push NU right off the precipice of respectability, on which we'd be perched at .700+, and into a crevasse of obscurity that I doubt the program would recover from. The line between Nebraska and the programs in its bordering states isn't nearly as wide as we've convinced ourselves that it is. Needs some examples of cautionary tales? Look at Maryland, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and heck, even Texas, Penn St and Miami, for teams that won an AP national championship after 1960 and are devoid of any championships in recent years. Winning conference championships is much more difficult than is appreciated, especially in today's format of championship games. I largely disagree with the premise that Bo did not preside over epic meltdowns, particularly and indisputably his own. His antics caused cameras to be on him a disproportionate amount of time during games. Having said that, your post is a good one. You lay out reasons for what you believe, and while we can argue around the edges I appreciate the thought you put into it.
  23. Terrific article. DG's numbers set against the competition he faced in Cali are sick. NU is going to have a crazy embarrassment of riches at the receiver spot for years to come.
