  1. I guess I was just speaking of the team's record in general. Let me amend it to say I don't think he'd get fired after going 7-5 as much as it sucks.
  2. I think this is the case, too. Especially if the Huskers were to finish 7-5 and then win the bowl game (a real possibility assuming the they won't face a world beater). 8-5 sucks, but it would be hard to justify canning him after year 3 with that. My guess is we would repeat this whole process for at least another year. Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, and Purdue just got a lot more interesting......
  3. Any idea when a ruling will be made?
  4. I kind of like "Hocus Focus".... I could handle that name Mods?
  5. Ok, you're right. I'll keep bitching.... or maybe not...
  6. Huskers lose to Wisconsin, Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa.... Why: because they are tougher.... Huskers should beat Illinois and Northwester, but Purdue and Minnesota may be tougher outs than people expect.
  7. Before this turns into a long discussion; I have zero problems with players having fun. I really don't have a problem with coaches celebrating. I've followed runs down the sideline with fist in the air before and have been a huge cheerleader. My problem with this is that it is 2 plays after the go ahead touchdown. Let the fans and teammates be happy and pump up the defense. I just don't see why a staff member needs to be acting like he's at a party in that situation. In my mind: he should be reminding those guys that there is still 17 minutes left and to be ready to finish it off. Again, just my "unfun"husker opinion.
  8. Personal preference I guess. I want focus when a game is still in doubt. Instead of a coach "having a party", I would appreciate him making sure my offensive players are ready to get on the field to seal the deal. I just think there is a huge difference between "loose" and "not focused". I know.
  9. This would not fly at my "high school".... It doesn't fly with my middle school.
  10. It was after a kickoff coverage tackle immediately after Nebraska just took the lead. Not a play of note in my mind.... edit: the more I watch it, the more frustrated I get with Phillip. I'm trying to find video of the "let me clear my throat", but I'm pretty sure he was a central figure in that too.
  11. I may just be getting old and turning into a "fuddy duddy" but that "display" was uncalled for. They were very much still in danger of losing the game. Remember the awesome "Let Me Clear My Throat" against Wisconsin. It was an awesome celebration. The players were into it, the coaches were into it, and the crowd was into it. While everyone was patting each other on the back, Wisconsin marched down the field and kicked a game winner. This is very much a focus issue and a sign of why players want to play for Riley: for possibly the wrong reasons. edit: after thinking about it, I could be okay with players being excited in this situation and dancing to stadium music. But, a coach should not be involved. Especially a coach that is in charge of "preparing their bodies to play".
  12. 4 point game with under 3 minutes to go in the 3rd. Who doesn't want a dance party at that point?
  13. I agree with this. Nebraska didn't retire a great group of championship Seniors last year and have to rebuild the roster over the next couple years. Nebraska's last group of championship seniors probably have kids that will graduate high school this year....
  14. I think in the current environment, it is best if she is referred to as "Dee" instead of "Mrs. Riley". Just sayin.....
  15. I have seen nothing to think Riley is "the guy", but it has to happen organically. If he only wins 6 games, he should be gone because of that. But if he somehow pulls out 9 ugly wins, NU needs to keep him. Where NU failed, with Solich and Pelini, is not letting things run the course. If Solich and Pelini really were not the answers it would have showed the next seasons and given validity to the coaching changes. Instead, NU has been left reaching for a rookie coach and a .500 coach looking for a last shot. NU limits its options by setting less than ideal terms for hiring.
  16. I'd watch Nebraska play at 5:00 on a weekday. Free up my Saturdays a little.....
  17. Was the book about her faith? The article made it seem like it was a devotional book written by a pastor that had close ties to Clinton, and the only thing in the book associated to her is the foreword she wrote for him. That said, I don't disagree that she would benefit greatly by staying in the woodwork for the foreseeable future.....But in this instance, it's not on her.
  18. Yes, please! I'm using "my" computer to watch the game tonight...
  19. Trump: "you know, I asked them for a good charity. I was being very kind letting them help, by the way. And almost all of them, you know not all of them, some don't have good genes....but they told me, the smart ones anyway, they told me of a great charity. You won't hear it from me, but they all recommended the Trump foundation! Can you believe it? These guys pretend to hate me, but they know what's good. I think they're coming around, I really do. I believe that...So, at the request of the media, I'm donating 1000000 dollars to the Trump foundation where it will do tremendous things!" I hope to God I'm not right....:
  20. Matthew 6:3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
  21. I think you are misinterpreting the passage. You are not a "nazi" for focusing on happier things. People are "nazis" when they see there neighbors beaten or fired because of their color or religion and choose to focus on "happier things" rather than stand up for their "friends" and "neighbors". Being a good husband, father, teacher, and coach doesn't make you a "nazi". Being a coward and unwilling to stand up to injustice makes one a "nazi". Just my interpretation of it. edit: some may question my putting "nazi" in quotations. Let me explain: no matter how vile the current alt right, neo-nazi, and KKK people are, they have yet to accomplish the horror and evil that happened in WWII. I don't want to give our current douche bags the "honor" of sharing that title because they will never come f'ing close as long as America has a soul!
  22. I'm in West Omaha area so not in "totality", but I think we are somewhere around 98% (I'm just estimating from charts I've seen)
