Great point! I find myself watching rugby on TV the few times I can because it is extremely fast paced and a can be brutal. How many rule changes has rugby made in the last few hundred years (minus adding pads and breaks in action to create football) I know the professional rugby circuit in Europe is huge, do they face stupid stuff like this?

EDIT: I'm not putting NU on the same level as Alabama in terms of recent W-L, but rather the pride of the fan base and the expectations that we have. If any SEC team ever is willing and excited to play Nebraska in the non-conference portion of the schedule, it means Nebraska has lost all respect and has become a "big name" to beat up on. This is a two way street. Alabama doesn't want to schedule a potential loss anymore than Nebraska does. Most high level BCS teams go the route of 3 cupcakes and 1 "name brand". The non-conference schedule for great programs isn't meant to "build respect" but to "keep respect". They do this by winning and letting the country know that they beat a familiar name. For example: Alabama had to be salivating when they scheduled Michigan in the non-conference. Huge name, poor team. Now Michigan is gaining some momentum and it is a game everyone is looking forward to. 365 days ago this was a joke game, but now it is "Michigan is playing the BigBoyz". I bet you that Alabama wishes they would have scheduled Louisiana Tech instead...

Exactly the reason Bo and TO don't want it televised. The athletic dept saying "we're worried about a competitive advantage" is an obscure way of saying "put your butt in the seat and help us sell the program to recruits visiting. We know you need to see this Spring Game and the recruits need to see a large crowd, c'mon...." I fully understand this thinking. It is very impressive to see a crazy mob of 60,000+ watching a scrimmage. However, if UNL can get a large crowd AND have it on national television that would impress a lot more than the 10-15 scholarship recruits in attendance. But, will a big crowd show up if it's on TV, especially if it is cold and rainy? Kinda a "catch 22".

I thought he was taking the baseball season off to heal a foot injury. They were talking about this on Lincoln radio 93.7 yesterday. They said that he wanted to focus on academics this spring and rehab is foot to be ready for football. He is at UNL on a football scholarship. They talked like he intended on keeping it, and earning it.

Are these players lying? How does it hurt the NFL's brand image? If people went to (or cheer for) whatever HS or JuCo these players mentioned, I'm guessing those people think it's pretty cool. Nebraska, USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, "enter any Div 1 football program here" gets plenty of national exposure, definately more than some small JuCo. Let the players have their fun, they are the ones that earned it. As mentioned before, "nothing to lose sleep over"

Some people depend way too much on the "insert sarcasm" emoticon, but with the crazies on here the last 24 hours that button is helpful... Perhaps I was a bit too harsh. I'm just getting tired of all the Husker bashing around here. I guess it just goes with the territory following a bowl beating like we just took. Exactly the reason why I started the thread. I think I saw it mentioned in another thread about the 10-7 record in the last 17 games for Pelini. I wanted to start a thread to see who can come up with the most (edit:)outrageous statistic that means absolutely nothing, but is factually correct. Let's have a little fun, it is needed!!! btw 7 losses: 1. @#18 Texas A&M (referee bitterness anyone?, Nebraska should have won this game.) 2. CG #10 Oklahoma (Big 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Again, Nebraska was in this game.) 3. BG Washington (bad loss. But it Nebraska holds a 2 out of 3 advantage in 12 month series) 4. @#7 Wisconsin (First B1G Conference game at Camp Randall. Wisconsin should finish top 10) 5. Northwestern (bad loss. An unfocused group had plenty of opportunities to win it.) 6, @#18 Michigan (Special Team meltdown in 2nd half. Michigan will probably finish in top 10 with a win over VT) 7, BG #9South Carolina (we all know what happened, Nebraska had their shot to win this one, but collapsed) I really believe, and I admit it is blind hope, that a year of mental and physical maturity will make a huge difference in the area of focus and execution. I also believe a year of experience in the B1G will help the coaching staff prepare gameplanes (offensively and defensively). I also think the mental stress placed on the team of being the last year in the Big12 (we have to win it!) and the first year in the B1G (we have to make a good impression) played a lot into the emotional exhuastion of the team. I can't wait for next year. The team is one year older (yes, this is a VERY young team) and some talented Redshirted players should see the field. And most importantly, it will be "just another year". Players will not be surrounded by storylines and drama about conference realignment that puts unnecessary stress on them.

KC, Your post explains why I created the poll. Some people (very few) have a "hatred" for Pelini and are sure that almost everyone agrees with them. I'm with you, there are "things that make you go hmmmm". But, I think most realize that they can't begin to grasp the complexity of running a Div 1 football team. I don't mean to say that Bo is the best coach on the planet, but I am saying Bo is Nebraska's best option right now and I would rather not face the uncertainty without him.

Landomatic (and others who feel the poll is flawed), You are probably correct, I could have worded the poll differently. However, I believe that fact that (at this time) 105 people have claimed support and 4 votes don't support (6 are ok but want something else if given the chance). I think this poll does more than show that Pelini is in very good favor in Husker Nation. I want to know what board NotSince97 was at that 100% (yes, absolutely everyone on the board) was against Bo Pelini. I'm guessing he got real life mixed up with playstation...
