  1. So what, Hitler had some great things to say about the U.S. before 1941. Talk is cheap and I prefer to judge a man by his actions. So far I'm not real impressed with Texas or Mac Brown's. WOW!!! Did someone just make a comparison between Hitler and the Nazi Regime to Mack Brown and the Longhorns?! just....WOW!!!! edit: Mods, If I get banned for personal attacks, am I still allowed to browse but not contribute?
  2. I bet one can find many pictures of Blackshirts engulfing offensive players from other teams in that 3-4 year stretch. But I have to believe a website ran by the Athletic Dept. knows exactly what they are talking about. They are the ones that saw the picture, hired the artist, and paid the bill for the darn thing!
  3. You can see it a lot if you look for it. Kids to great things all the time, but the newspapers only write articles on the kids committing crimes. There are just as many self centered adults (aged 25-50) as there are self centered kids (5-24). I've seen many cases around town (Omaha) where a couple high schoolers help people in need while adults walk by the situation with a "what the hell are you kids doing?" look. Good job Prince!!!!
  4. I agree 100%. The only thing that has me worried is the fact that it is an away game on the west coast, in a stadium where fans are buying into hype. This is the kind of atmosphere that makes Lincoln a tough place to play. I really don't see this being a "marquee" match-up at all. Not even close to NU vs USC or NU vs VT for recent out of conference games. Nebraska fans should be very worried about what the rest of the season will look like if this is a close game at all.
  5. I bet he couldn't run over Eric Martin.
  6. I agree completely. I would put the Washington game below every Big12 game except Iowa State and Kansas and that is considered a 3-way tie. Some people put way too much into the fact that the Huskies beat USC; that was an ugly game and USC gave it to them, not quite as much as the Huskers gave one away to ISU but close. Nebraska came close (probably should have) to a win at V Tech. Washington's atmosphere might be rockin', but I see halfway through the 2nd quarter that the stadium will be calmed down a LOT. Nebraska wins going away!
  7. I don't think there is much chance to this being an 11:00a.m. game. If Texas and NU are unbeaten, this is a primetime ABC/ESPN nationally televised game. 7:00 Kickoff.
  8. Tommy Tuberville doesn't necessarily agree with his chancellor. He made some interesting remarks regarding the "New Big 12"!! http://my.journalstar.com/post/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog/speak_your_mind_tommy.html
  9. Worst case scenario: The Big 12 doesn't want to lose the TV revenue so they put these games as part of the Fox or ABC/ESPN games so they won't lose part of the Husker TV revenue to other sources. If the above doesn't happen, Nebraska sells the rights to the games to the Big 10. The Big 10 takes the revenue to put towards making Nebraska "whole" as they enter the conference. My .02
  10. Talk about prima donnas. Your views towards Iowa State reflect the arrogance you husker fans have. You are looking at one sport.......one. And in that sport, a very average ISU team beat Nebraska in Lincoln 9-7. That makes you very average. In other sports, you are pale in comparison. Your mens basketball team is the armpit of the Big 12, and every Big ten team now has you circled on their calender for an EASY win. Other sports, same scenario. I never thought Tom Osborne would run away from competition, I always thought he would do what is right. I was wrong. For the record, I bet you don't win a title in the Big ten this decade. You are going to get your red rumps handed to you. Good riddance. Let the other schools of the Big ten find out what we have known for years. You're a bunch of unfounded prima donnas. Even Northwestern will kick your butt. This is directed to only CYGUY and other ISU fans that spout trash about the game last year. Please remember, Nebraska beat ISU 35-17 in a season that got a Nebraska coach fired!!! I appreciate all fans of all teams, that is what makes sports fun to go to. But if you are going to be a butthead, try to be good at it!
  11. I, for one, would love it. My brother-in-law is from Wisconsin. He and my sister (born/raised Neb) live right on the MN/WI border now, and I'm in Omaha. It would be great to alternate Thankgivings according to the Wisc/Neb schedule. Maybe even make it to a game if we had the time. p.s. Family gatherings will be much more complicated now. This could put a new meaning to "Black Friday" at either house!

To our Big 10 brethren: This is what this thread is trying to say HUSKER PRAYER BEFORE THE TUNNEL WALK Dear Lord, the battles we go through life, We ask for a chance that's fair, A chance to equal our stride, A chance to do or dare, If we should win, let it be by the code, Faith and Honor held high, If we should lose, we'll stand by the road, And cheer as the winners go by. Day by Day, we get better and better! The team that can't be beat, WON'T BE BEAT!

  15. Are you talking about Miami or UNL? I have not been around here that much so I don't know if this is common but I have never heard anyone in Nebraksa call UNL "the U". Um, yeah. I'm with you Jaws. I am a 30-year-old born and raised Nebraskan. Never heard it called "The U" before. I even spent 5 years living in Lincoln.
  16. Great work! It is interesting to look at the changes on a graph like that. I believe the heights of players will be up and down every year. What is interesting to me is that while the heights peak and valley, the weights show a steady incline. This shows me that players all across football (assuming every other teams #'s are similar) are getting bigger and stronger and training and diets get more advanced. The '09 Oakland Raiders would crush the '72 Dolphins, and I might get flack for this but what do people think would be the outcome of the 2007 Huskers vs 1983 Huskers? Something to talk about besides Niles Paul, or expansion I guess....
  17. That's where I was. Started Kindergarten on my 5th birthday, moved down to UNL on my 18th birthday. I was one of the youngest kids in my class. Same here. Graduated HS when I was 17 and turned 18 two months later (August). Ditto! Graduated @ 17. Turned 18 two weeks later. Double ditto. Turned 18 (July) Same here. Graduated in May turned 18 at the end of June. Got an MIP on July 4th, boy were my parents mad. Had to spend 2 days in jail because i had turned 18 before the offense. Buffalo County NE? Been there done that, boy was UNK fun!!!
  18. I checked IWCC Football stats/rosters on NJCAA website and he was listed nowhere to be found. I have no idea if he is even on their football team.
  19. #1 You are correct that the QB did not have time to make progressions, thus Paul the #1 option got a lot of forced balls his way. #2 How do you coach a guy to catch, especially if most junior high kids can catch those balls. Gilmore is a "great recruiter", why not bring in some junior high kids. The WR postion is the most affected by defense, whether it be man-to-man, zone, 3-deep, 2-deep, whatever, the WR's are open when they are open. Some are just more able to make spectacular catches than others when a ball is poorly thrown. Quiz: Who was the College QB of the following WR's: Jerry Rice Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Chris Carter, Calvin Johnson, Michael Irvin, Bednerik, Heinz Ward (oh that's right, he was a QB) My point: you don't teach someone to be a stud WR, they are or they aren't. You as a coach find a way to fit their style and abilities in your system if they are able to be a WR at the NCAA D1 level. So we have 2 issues here. If they are not capable of being D1 receivers, is Gilmore that great of a recruiter of receivers, or is Watson not using the receivers to their potential? Out of those two options, Gilmore only is responsible for recruiting. Thus making him a bad recruiter and useless to the staff. Enter sarcasm here!!!!!
  20. Welcome aboard Panhandle! +1 A lot of common sense out west.
  21. Wow...this has been entertaining and very informative. Who says Huskerboard doesn't have a place in the classroom!?
  22. I think the injuries are playing a huge role. He hasn't been passing team physicals from what I've read. ESPN Big 12 blog, in an article that had Big 12 free agent signings, said that Alexander basically got inquiries from everyone in the League, but they wanted to check out his knees first. It said that he has had 3-4 knee surgeries in the last couple of years.
  23. No, that was Spiller!! I jest, I jest!!! Glad to see Spiller get the love he deserved last night also.
  24. The "W" obviously is a reminder there is "won" second seperating them from a BCS game!! Don't forget what the "N" on the helmet stands for.... where is the sarcasm dealy?
