  1. Agreed. I'm really diggin him being put up in the #2 spot. I wonder, however, if he would be #2 or #3 depending on whether Spano had gone out earlier this year.
  2. These are very good, genuine predictions and I like em. The only one I disagree with is 7. I think we've seen the last Pelini inflicted penalty. Maybe Carl will step up to the plate and get one himself this year?
  3. If it gets to the point where it physically blocks the game, then it's a problem. And if they start circling the entire stadium with them that's a problem too. However, I think we have the perfect amount. Now everybody, no matter where they are sitting, can see a screen clearly. There were some places in the stadium that, if you happened to be sitting there, you either had to crane your neck to see a screen or you had to look really far away. This negates that now. Plus, if you happen to be sitting in the North or South stadium, it is very hard to tell what the difference is between a 2 yard gain and a 6 yard gain when watching the play. The screens allow us to see how far the team went on that particular play, and I think it's really nice to able to know that.
  4. But only just. Syracuse was piss poor this last season, although they did knock Notre Dame out of Gator Bowl contention! I don't mind playing them in 2011, but if Washington still isn't good and neither is Syracuse, we will still need to find a team we know is going to be good when we play them that year.
  5. Post of the year? i second I third. I mean there are what, two maybe three games if you count the Big 12 championship that people will have us slated as underdogs for? We win those games and we're in baby!
  6. Yeah. At the same time, however, I think your second line kind of answers your first in a way. If it was a repeat offense (for example the idea I've heard around campus that he failed a drug test 5 times) then he deserved a dismissal. Now, regardless of what it actually was even if it was just a minor team rule, anytime you break multiple team rules or the same team rule multiple times you deserve what you get. In this case, Castille seemed to have pushed the coaches a little over the edge more than once so he got dismissed.
  7. You are a god. Thanks for the link.
  8. Doesn't worry me at all, to be honest. If you really want to rant about *star* rating, we have still signed three four stars this year, or did we forget about them? Granted nothing is official till February but come on. We are still SUPER early in the recruiting process for 2010. Hell, my high school alma mater just got done with it's blue and white scrimmage last Friday. They haven't even played a game yet! A lot of things can happen between now and February.
  9. Look at it this way and think about the future. If Bo shows the world that being a big/small contributor to the team doesn't put you above the team, then our team isn't going to have guys who get in trouble. This will also help in recruiting the right guys to our football team and turn away those that can't be disciplined. I'd rather recruit a 3 star humbled and disciplined quarterback than recruit a 5 star smart mouth piece of trash. Our teams in the 90's were so good because we didn't always recruit the best guys in the nation, just the guys that we could get the most out of.
  10. As far as the depth chart is concerned, I think we have the offense pretty much figured out (as far as starters go at least). Christensen and Henry are battling for that right guard/tackle spot (can't remember which) and the other wide receivers still need to fill themselves in behind Paul. Defensively, the line and corner situation is pretty much figured out. I think the safety and linebacking area is where the most competition is going on. There are a lot of young guys fighting in the linebacking spot, so it should be great to see who comes out on top.
  11. I have to agree Jack here. I mean, if we really need a short yardage back, I think either of them is more or less our guy. Burkhead is a cut and slash runner similar to Helu. Ward is listed as 6'3 215 pounds while Okafor is listed as 6'1 225. If you're looking for height and power you might want to go with Ward because Okafor has always been a fast back and Ward has generally been that power guy. With the departure of Castille, however, I think it's very possible that Zimmerer or another fullback could get the rock. But, he's young and he is still in the same weight range as Ward and Okafor.
  12. Wow, first post and I officially label you a troll. Lol awesome.
  13. Saying that ND will be in the MNC is like saying Clemson will make it to the MNC this year. They had the exact same season in wins and losses, but at least Clemson got a first down in the first half of every game they played last year unlike ND not getting a single one until midway through the third quarter against USC. Lou Holtz is an idiot sometimes, but at least he gave us the respect we deserved when they did the ESPN poll a couple years ago and Herbstreit was whining like a little girl the whole time.
  14. I wouldn't put a whole lot of substance behind Kevin and Mike'l. A few weeks back they let slip something about one of the players that made the board go a little crazy, and we found out it wasn't even anything worth drooling over once it was announced in the papers. And if he does go out, while we do lose some experience, we have a stable of running backs. Jones, Okafor, Ward, and Burkhead could all be seen at that number two spot. And I think if he were 'booted' from the team, as others have been saying, he wouldn't have been on the field in a practice jersey and shorts.
  15. Don't get to confident about those team losing QB's If you look around the Big 12 and the country a lot of quarterbacks are coming from LA, TX and OK. I don't know what OK has lined up but you know Texas doesn't have a bare cupboard. One does not simply replace a Colt McCoy, a Sam Bradford, a Zac Robinson, or a Todd Reesing. Obviously the Big 12 South has it's recruiting advantages, but to think we should be threatened by their quarterback play next year is a joke. It takes time to develop a quarterback into a championship quarterback. If Texas, Oklahoma (without Bradford), OSU, or Kansas win the national championship in 2010-2011, I'll adopt a child from Asia. It's simpler to reload a lineman or wide receiver from the "cupboard" because their role in the offense, while important, is not nearly that of the quarterback. Every play hinges on him, and every play hinges on him to make the right decision and know what he has to do. You can't just replace that with the snap of a finger. So I'll say again, with all four of those guys most likely gone, Nebraska may very well have a great chance to run the table next year and make it to a BCS national championship.
  16. And a Fumblerooskie!!!!! Oh wait, it's banned.... Thanks NCAA.
  17. Didn't take the time to see if this was said, but if it was here it is anyways. One good thing about a weak schedule is that it plays to our national championship hopes. We play weak non-con teams and get Texas, OSU, and Texas A&M, two of which lose a quarterback that has done a lot of good things for their team. In the North, Kansas loses Reesing and most of the other North schools will still be trying to find their way with young, inexperienced players all around. We will have a Senior quarterback, two senior running backs, a talented and deep offensive line, experienced wide receivers, and a young and extremely talented defense (this, of course, is going off of the assumption that we have a very successful season like last year and really progress). Given that we have a great season in '09, we may even be favored to win the Big 12 next year even if Bradford returns (which I really doubt he will). There may be skeptics next year if we run the table on our schedule, but that is something Nebraska has always had to take.
  18. If the season had extended past the Gator Bowl, O'Hanlon would have gotten one. Minus a stupid personal foul penalty, he played his best game.
  19. I love to see stuff like this. It means the guys are getting extremely physical and becoming men. Players who play tough and have their priorities straight win championships. I'm glad Pelini takes a father figure role when it is needed, because in the grand scheme of things these guys are all still very young.
  20. Maybe Suh will be the only one to get his? Anyways, I don't think that Bo is going to hold out on the jerseys for as long as last year. As long as they are practicing well and putting in 100% effort, they will get them before the first game imho. I don't think Nebraska fans/boosters are going to be happy year in and year out if the blackshirts stay a guessing game. Messing with when the players get the blackshirts goes against tradition, given that they always got them before the first game. I'm all for making the players earn them, but if we have to keep asking ourselves every year "when are the players going to get the blackshirts?", I would vote to just have them taken away permanently. Seems rather pointless if it is handled in that regard.
  21. Regardless, I wasn't worried about KU's offensive or defensive line. They played poorly last year and we retained a couple more starters on both lines than KU did. We should be fine in the trenches. The only thing to worry about in this game is taking the crowd out early and stopping Reesing.
  22. I understand some of the reasoning behind Notre Dame being ranked in the top 25 (i.e. Clausen, even though he still hasn't showed that he is better than average). At the same time, however, it is completely ridiculous. They beat a struggling Michigan team, lost to a terrible Syracuse team (which put us into the Gator Bowl), got trounced by USC, and beat a poor Hawaii team. Not to mention they finished 7-6 and barely made bowl eligibility. It's a joke to have them in there above other teams who deserve it more.
  23. Well for starters, I just googled nebraska's fan day for this year and it says it is the 8th of August which is Saturday, so that is the only help I can provide. Otherwise I don't know much about it.
  24. My guess? Rex Burkhead, Jason Ankrah, and Brandon Kinnie are three guys that come to my head. The other two? Beats me. After checking rivals, I got 3 of the 5.
