  1. BYU's play (judgements reserved for other threads) causes a level of frustration in other teams that results in injuries to both themselves and their opponents. They will suffer a bunch of injuries (a historical reality under Mendenhall), and finish with a handful of losses as a result. Healthy they can compete with anyone on their schedule...I just don't see them staying healthy.
  2. In my humble opinion this is why BYU "suffers" so many injuries every year. Opposing teams get tired of it and retaliate. Make no mistake, NU started doing the same thing after Foltz. It is frustrating that they will beat us, and by the time they get to Michigan they will be decimated injuries. They are a good team, and schematically I REALLY like what they do. But they need to clean up their approach.
  3. I agree with 90% of your post, and I actually feel better about the team coming out of this loss than I did watching the mess of a spring game. That said, I was hoping for improvement across the board. I like where the passing game is going, but O-line and running game remain weak. I like where the LBs are headed, but the secondary remains a problem. I can see some improvements, but soooo much needs to be done. Get to work boys!
  4. I too saw some positives, but there were some glaring trouble spots. Running game and O-line & secondary concern me. That said, I did see some positives. I liked the passion of the team, I liked Riley's approach, and I was sad to see them come away with a loss. There is no way to be certain, but the game had a very Wisconsin-esquq feel to it. When BYU went on a run in the second quarter it could have snowballed. I truly believe if Bo was at the helm that was a 41-17 loss.
  5. That was a good team and karma for northwestern. Calm people. Calm
  6. After reading up on the Cook situation there is something VERY dirty happening in Tallahassee. Why are there so many underage students in these bars? None of the football players reported in the Cook case were older than true sophomores (20 years old if you are being generous), and one of the women present was only 19. She was reportedly very intoxicated, and this report comes from the bouncer who is an OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER?!?!? The police are in the bars, but not checking IDs? The police are in the bars are witnessing verbal altercations, but supposedly leaving before punches are thrown? I found the Penn State situation repulsive, but the NCAA's consistent "looking the other direction" and "boys will be boys" mentality regarding borderline habitual sexual assault and abuse is disgusting. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/florida-state-seminoles/chopping-block/os-fsu-dalvin-cook-not-guilty-misdemeanor-battery-20150824-story.html
  7. Tell us again how this is racist... How about we play "how is it NOT racist." I understand that people attach intense emotion to a team name (I would struggle if people told me I couldn't be a Husker anymore), but when people of Sioux heritage ask you to stop calling yourself "the fighting Sioux"...you kind of have to stop. Go Spirit/Roughriders/North Stars!!!!
  8. Not sure how the coverage is in Nebraska, but those derailments are top story on the news when they happen here in North Dakota....considering how they have tried to vaporize a couple towns nearby. That said, do the Koch brothers play football?
  9. Every fan base is delusional. Here in Fargo the I-AA NDSU Bison legitimately believe they could beat Alabama, and the UND folks are constantly crying that they are being forced to change their mascot from the racist "fighting Sioux" to something lame like "the spirit" (which believe it or not is not one of the worst finalists). Moral of the story: fans are crazy. There is a reason the word fan is a shortened version of the term fanatic. You're not supposed to think things through. ESPECIALLY if you are a Missery fan.
  10. Can't wait to miss kickoff so I can watch a team that should not be allowed to play in a bowl try to beat Boston College.
  11. Good luck to Bo. Now please BEAT NDSU! I am tired of this North Dakota Dynasty crap!
  12. On what grounds would they file a lawsuit? Not trying to be abrasive - I'm genuinely curious. No worries! If non-power5 school pursued litigation, I would assume it would be around restraint of trade and anti-trust. I am no lawyer, but I believe the NCAA's record in Sherman Anti-Trust lawsuits is horrible. Something like 0-5 dating back to OU/Georgia v. NCAA. Could just be the conspiracy theorist in me, but I do not believe that they are abiding by this precedent.
  13. Beth Mowins? Very intelligent, terrible voice.
  14. 12 Teams. Power 5 champions. C-USA Champion, MAC Champ, and Mountain West Champion with 4 at large. The top 4 seeds get a bye, and everyone is happy. The playoff is going to make too much money to exclude non power 5's. There will be a lawsuit.
  15. HELL NO! Go Big Red! I gotta work and live with those Hawkeye fans.
  16. I am not really a Mitch Sherman fan, but the article was pretty well balanced. Kinda hard to argue at this point...
  17. We're a punchline in Fargo, ND. Which is frustrating on two levels: 1) The FCS team that North Dakotans get all puffed up about was created by Craig Bohl to be Osborne era Nebraska-esque in style and mentality. and 2) We're being made fun of by people who's only claim to fame is an awesome movie and a woodchipper. FML...is it basketball season yet? Wait crap, the basketball coach got his start at NDSU too. WHY IS A FCS TEAM MAKING MY HUSKERS LOOK STUPID?!?!?!?
  18. Seriously Polo? No one is even saying that. It's just a little funny that we get tOSU that many times before we even play Indiana, who at present could give almost any team a run for their money. Almost everyone in here has said they are in favor of playing as many top teams as we can each year. The displeasure comes from the fact that in order to do so we have to play all those teams on the road. We only get MSU at home and five other cupcakes including non con at home. We have to play 3 of the top 4 teams in the conference at their place and 2 others, that in any given year could round out the top 5 in the conference. Even you should be able to admit that we got shafted on that one. Just one of those games at home would have been nice, plus it might help the ticket sales since it looks like another crap home schedule similar to this year. I'd rather play Ohio st than Indiana every day of the week, bet the B1G likes that matchup better too. We didn't get shafted. Stop looking for bias where there's none. Pretty sure that an unbalanced schedule is the definition of bias. I personally think it is not a bad thing, and we want a stronger schedule come playoff time...but it IS bias.
  19. Favorite post of the week! Keep `em coming! That said...
