  1. Ex TE target Brandon Vandenburg was convicted of rape today. Could be sentenced to decades behind bars. Good. Glad Bo and Co steered us away from this scum.

Some lucky NU coed needs to thank Pelini and co. For their inability to land this recruit.

His character was attacked. It should hurt anyone. Of course, plenty of people don't believe him, anyway.

That's just it Zoogs. He could be lying. Doubt he is, but he could be. The point is, his organization just got caught cheating, AGAIN, and now we're trying to spin it into a Brady was the victim story? Totally asinine. But it was from ESPN Boston so what did I expect?

  2. It would be hard to come on an official visit with a bunch of guys who are #1 options on our boards as a plan B guy knowing your offer is contingent on another guy. Especially because if he falls in love with everything, there's nothing he can do about it just yet. I hope Sykes makes the right decision for him and everything works out.
  3. Good god, Joni Ernest makes me want to shoot a .44 Hand Cannon right next to my ears to put them out of their misery.

He does. Also the color of his face actually matched the color of his tie tonight. He looks like a total alcy.

  4. It tells me Harbaugh is every bit the douche I've always estimated him to be.
  5. Engage Chip on Shoulder big man. Show them who you are and what you can do!! Get here, develop, and destroy!! I've heard some say that OSU fans were down on Cav the last few years, but I still feel better about him progressing under him than the duo of Barney/Garrison. I still wonder how much input Barney had on OL coaching since our TEs were essentially MIA for the longest time.
  6. Please send thanks/packages of dog dookie to Mike Marrow.
  7. I don't know that there's anyone on staff who could refine those skills better than the previous staff. The DL really came on this last year. But I've never seen Banker or Hughes coach. But it still would have been great to see him back because any time you have a talent that special on your team, no matter how raw, it opens up so many possibilities.
  8. Somebody watch the film on the kid. I'm busy or I'd do it. Whether or not these big guys can stick at OT has everything to do with their flexibility and ability to bend. We do need Ts more badly, but he'd make one hell of a scary guard.
  9. Funny. DB said this morning he thinks it's down to us and OU with us having the edge. Assuming you mean Oklahoma and not Oregon.
  10. Bothers me that Urban Meyer is probably one of the top college coaches opted to hire Tim Beck as an offensive coordinator. Beck must have been better than we thought. Not really. He's about what we thought he was. A very creative offensive mind, but awful at managing that entire side of the ball himself. Urb hired Beck to coach QBs and as a Co-OC who doesn't call plays. So basically he's be drawing up plays and coaching a position he clearly has no ability to develop.
  11. I find it funny Beck tags along for the in-home to help solidify Urban's hand-picked QB... for a guy he totally passed on at NU.
  12. This is a bit of a silly comp to make, because I don't know how closely the game approximates the actual playbook, but I use Oregon State's playbook in NCAA 14. I'm curious how the NCAA games compile playbooks for different teams-- surely they don't have access to the actual playbooks. Anyway, The playbook from the game IS pretty multiple. There's singleback two TE, singleback 3WR/1TE, I form, offset I, and a lot of shotgun formations. The shotgun packages all feature some zone read and speed option, which would probably be GOOD for Riley to include this next year, since we have personnel well equipped to run it. Didn't see it at OSU because Mannion is a statue. If it were me (and I am thinking about trying to become an offensive coach someday so I'm starting to think about what system I'd use), I'd lean heavily on the run since NU can easily recruit top notch RBs and OL, and feature TEs in the passing game. I'm so glad he understands the unique matchup problem they create if utilized correctly. Running should open up things downfield for the passing game, and a Riley/Langsdorf combo should have no problems getting the most out of our QB play. It's going to be a fun year.
  13. Probably why afalava left. Now that I think about it, this was a pervasive problem on both sides of the ball (think Moore at OL). Forcing a scheme on guys who may or may not be able to run it instead of considering player skillsets was one of Bo's teams biggest weaknesses.
  14. I'm not above mocking a coach. That guy is a grade A DOOSH and needs to get off our nuts ASAP. He seems like he's specifically targeting conference foe commits. I'm not one of those gentleman's agreement guys, but it almost seems that's where he started his recruiting... Other B1G commits. Sure fire to make the rest of the conference hate you... More than they already do.
  15. He's a soft commit.I have no problems at all with any recruit who wants to look around. These players need to choose what they think is the best place to be for them, no different than anybody else in selecting a college. They have to commit as part of the process, but when things change or (potentially) better offers come along, they should absolutely explore them.Would definitely be nice for fans to realize this and not give anyone grief for it. (Speaking in general; twitter is a good case in point. Actually, fans should not tweet at recruits in general)To take it a step further, I'd recommend not personally investing yourself in recruiting. Of course it's fine to drink the Kool-Aid and join the celebraish when we bring talented new guys on the team. But I've been the guy who gets upset when a guy waivers or deco mits or we whiff on a big-time recruit. Not that guy now, and it's just not worth. Recruiting is just far too volatile to not expect these types of deals every year. While it's important, recruiting is 100% out of our control and just not worth the headache, IMO.
  16. If I remember right Baker was ranked higher than that. I want to say Baker was a top 5 overall talent but that was as a tackle not T. According to Rivals, Steinkuhler was #2 overall OT. #8 player overall and #1 player in the state. Didn't realize he was THAT highly ranked. Man wish he woulda played OT The saying that always comes to mind for me when I think of Baker's career is "All-conference DT, All-American OT." I think his potential was that good at OL. But, A) It was his choice and B) Barney Cotton was our OL coach

  19. Between Reubs and Burrow, Harbaugh seriously needs to get up off our nuts.
  20. What an asshat. I knew this guy sucked at reffing and had a huge ego. Didn't know he was out and out racist though. Hope the other conferences he works for s***can him too. Good riddance.
  21. I'm guessing they thought Dillman was their guy. It was all about TB finding "his guy" and ignoring a gift wrapped legacy recruit with boatloads of talent. I hesitate to knock his talent evaluation, but looking back, it's shocking we had anyone on staff who knew how to scout QBs effectively. Barney's always been more of a run game kind of guy, and Beck clearly had no idea how to improve tools once he got his guys on campus. Hope we somehow luck out and snag this guy.
  22. I simply don't understand why. In. The. WORLD. Beck went away from using TEs in his offense. The size/speed combo the right guy can provide an offense is a ridiculous advantage. You see it in the NFL as well. Guys like Gronk and Graham are such physical freaks that there is NO ideal cover man for them. You double them or live with the damage they do. If nothing else, Carter was such a gifted athlete I'd have at least split him out in the slot like Wats used to use McNeil. Extremely pleased Riley understands the unique advantage TEs provide and relies on them. This young man should have an outstanding career here.
  23. Casual Nebrasketball fan here, but yeah Tai looks SOOO bad right now. And has every time I've tuned in. All he's done tonight is catch and pass it back around the arc (zero penetration) and turn the ball over. I just don't get how a guy who holds his own so well internationally can come back and look so lost in the B10.
