  1. AND..... KU got ROLLED by GTech. Just throwing that out there.
  2. Ask Tony Romo how well that went for him in week 1. Especially with a lead, I'm ok with the safe play.
  3. Is that already confirmed? Edit: It is. It's on Gameday's website.
  4. Game ball goes to Bo's pharmacist. Dude seems so laid back lately it's like he had a lobotomy.
  5. So... I didn't feel this deserved another thread, and sorry in advance for threadjacking but... Does Gameday come to Camp Randall next weekend? The only other game that's even a threat is Bama-Florida, #3 vs. #12. I'd two top 10 teams and NU's first B1G game would be enough to win them over, but you never know. ESPN wuvs dem some SEC. Which reminds me...
  6. Was he? I only got one look at that play from afar, and I know the announcers said he was Taylor's third option. On this play, I know Taylor rolled out and found Bell open. But I think these announcers were pretty poorly informed for the most part, which is why I am skeptical. I think Taylor may have had one look from the pocket before he moved out and found Bell (which is a great play!) but I am not sure about third. I wasn't really sure, zoogies. I said that based off what the announcers said. We didn't have a good camera angle to see if Taylor went through his progression or not. I will say, though, that you might be right, as Taylor has a propensity to make up his mind who he's going to before the play starts. This is common with young QB's... unfortunately Taylor has just displayed it more prominently than most. Hopefully it will get better with time. Probably won't be next week though. My prediction: Wisconsin 734, NU -12.
  7. Gmoose: I think we have the advantage when our offense goes against their defense. If what everyone is saying about their defense being slow to the edge is true, that will definitely be exposed come next saturday. We will run that power toss and probably some stretch plays to test their defense in that manner. Not to mention us whamming right at them with Rex in whichever way we choose-- up the middle, on a toss, and possibly even the Rexcat. Our offensive line has given me some real hope the last two weeks... We'll see how they can perform against a bigger, slower Wiscy defense. I will say that I think if Wiscy's defense is indeed slow, they are going to have SERIOUS problems containing our team speed, especially if that OLine starts firing on all cylinders. And although I understand how Wisconsin perennially has an excellent Oline and run game, and Wilson is a good to great college QB... I would challenge the person who said they are one of the best offenses in the nation. Who exactly have the gone against that has tested their mettle? Although our defense is looking really vulnerable at the moment, I trust the Pelini Bros and Co to ratchet up some things by next weekend and have our boys ready. We shall see if either of the offenses or defenses are for real (most interested to see our D vs. their O) next weekend. That's why you play the game.
  8. Speaking of timeouts, has anyone noticed that we are not managing ours very well at all?? Never have very well under Bo. He prefers to burn em early to fix problems he might see, especially on the defensive end of things, rather than save them for the end of the game should we need them. For some odd reason, it doesn't really seem like it has bitten us in the ass too badly yet.
  9. Agree with Husker Richard on a lot of points... Every time I saw #23... Thorell... on the field for the D, I nearly choked on my drink. On one play, I was literally barking at my dad before the snap that every time he gets on the field, something bad happens. Wouldn't you know it, they snap the ball and BOOM-- Thorell called for defensive PI. It's like he's literally so bad the other team knows it and picks on him. I guess the film doesn't lie. Enunwa is a man. This kid is physical like we haven't seen in a while. Well, physical that holds onto the ball, Niles... My dad says Enunwa reminds him of Purify, which would be nice to have back. Nice game by Kinnie... I'd say he did all he could to redeem himself, short of making a ridiculous diving catch on Taylor's terrible 3 and out pass on a comeback. Impressed by the O-Line again. They consistently got a damn good push when we needed one. We literally didn't have any "what the f, that just got blown up in the backfield" moments when trying to run the ball, which is awesome. Improvement is evident. Taylor's decision making it improving week to week. When he threw into double coverage, he was staring down that receiver the whole time, and I commented, "Well, at least he got his one 'what the hell' throw out of the way for this week." Things could always be worse. We could've had a Ricky Stanzi (from Iowa) who seemingly had a weekly pick 6. It is very encouraging, though, that Taylor is beginning to show flashes of making his reads, like when he hit Kenny Bell for that touchdown. He was Taylor's third option. So he's making some reads, and blowing others (Legate... ). Take the good with the bad. He can be pretty good in the short to intermediate passing game, even if his mechanics and release are garbage. I don't know that his deep ball accuracy will ever get fixed, which we may have to just accept. I felt good to see Heard get some action and run hard to earn his TD. He seemed like the RB most getting the shaft in the OOC. It was like he had Rex Burkhead syndrome... always one little block or one player a few more inches out of position to break a big one. And that was when Heard actually got in the game the first three games... seems like he got the least time. Rex has definitely recovered from his bout with this, thankfully. Bo is one of the leading minds in college football defense today, and has been for a while. Now, the film is quite clear. Surely Bo isn't missing the fact that teams are gashing us in the short passing game, with slants and quick ins and outs and the like. I believe it must have to be the scheme, as playing our CB's five yards off the WR hopefully was done by design to take away the big gain. I truly believe Bo was doing this to bend and not break. He just really didn't want to give up a huge score like we had in the past. The problem is that Cassidy just plain ain't athletic enough to catch up if caught out of position, and a lot of scores have come on quick slants up the middle where the catch is made and the WR splits the safeties for a score. Now, it's tricky being in the B1G now if they truly are sticklers on DB's being physical with receivers, but I had to think we'll play closer next week to take away the short stuff from Wiscy. At the same time, he probably won't want to give up a big bomb to Toon or Abberdaris. We just need time to gel and get the right combination of guys on the field for defending the pass... which ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT include Compton or Fish trying to look competent in zone coverage. Also, very interesting to see Cooper at CB... I would've liked to see him in Cassidy's spot with Austin riding the pine. I'm starting to see what people mean about Fisher... He doesn't play downhill at all. He's very hesitant, and I don't know if it's due to his recovery from the energy or just because he has the instincts of a dead moose. Chase Rome saw more snaps yesterday... Just saying. Also nice to say EMart lay a good lick that wasn't on special teams. Did Harvey Jackson see any time? I only remember seeing him in the post game prayer huddle.
  10. I wo Anyone who thinks we won't have anything up our sleeve on both sides of the ball that Wisconsin hasn't seen is nuts too. Sure, the Huskers havent looked that great on either side of the ball yet, but we're 3-0, and I'm sure Bo and co. have some different packages that will make things difficult for Wisconsin. I would argue we have looked great on offense. We've scored more points each game. I know the Fresno State game looked atrocious for a while. But remember what happened when we took off the training wheels, put on our big boy pants, and came to play the second half? We dropped 42 points and our offense carried us to a win. So weird to actually type. Anyway, at times yesterday, our offense looked damn near dominant. We ran the ball right at the Huskies, and they couldn't stop us. This was like the Huskers of old! I know it was only really for that one drive or the 3rd quarter or what have you, but it was soooo great to see. And Beck showed he knows how to call a game, especially with that beautifully set up bootleg by Taylor for a TD. I think a large part of the reason we looked so good yesterday is because we eliminated a vast majority (~90%) of our boneheaded mistakes-- ball security, penalties, Taylor forcing it into triple coverage. Time will tell whether this game was a lucky fluke or if it was an actual offensive adjustment/change implemented by Tim Beck (Imagine that Wats... ). I'd love for it to be a permanent thing. And I will say this about Wisconsin: Big 10 defenses (Wiscy not withstanding) have traditionally had real issues and even been embarassed when they face an offense with speed. Discuss.
  11. I think it's safe to say we know where Tommy will end up...
  12. I think no time was it more evident how great a game Beck called then on Taylor's short TD scamper. I know people got an air of nostalgia watching us run that Power O running play with the left guard pulling down the field at will on Washington. But watching Taylor take that bootleg into the endzone, all I could think of was how beautifully Tim Beck set that up. It was the same blocking scheme as that same play we had pounded at them 5 or 6 times in a row down the field, and they were totally committed to shutting down the HB dive. The DE stayed home like he should've, but he had absolutely no shot at beating Taylor to the edge. Good LORD... it's as if Tim Beck could... THINK! And ADJUST! Can you hear that from Louisville, Shawn?
  13. Definitely happy Taylor learned to slide. And got to agree, we have a TON of young talent that is just beginning to show itself. Our O-line is not as bad as we all thought... They looked downright dominant at times today. Was Barney's headset malfunctioning or something? Our O-line did well. For the first time in a while, I am less concerned with our offense than our defense. I know the Pelini's prefer to drop everyone they can into coverage and let the D-line alone pressure the quarterback. This method worked a few years ago because Suh was a physical freak. Now, I don't know that our D-line is good enough (holding or no) to consistently pressure the QB. I feel even less confident our linebackers and secondary can actually do their job and cover. It feels extremely weird to be saying this, but today the linebacker I was least impressed with was... David. I saw little from him to inspire confidence. He occasionally did a good job attacking gaps, but when he got there, he whiffed on Polk and just got embarrassed trying to play man coverage on that last long Husky TD pass.
  14. Michigan State losing 10-28 to Notre Dame nearing the end of the 3rd. Anyone still going to make the argument they're the class of the B1G (w/ Wisconsin) now?

  15. Pitt and Iowa doing their best to embarass the B1G two weeks in a row... :/

Oops... mental slip. I meant Penn State, not Pitt. Pitt's doing a pretty good job of it too I suppose... or Iowa's just that bad. Penn State still down 7-10 going into fourth quarter.

  16. He has not committed, and I don't see anything in this thread that says he's N. It will be a battle for TJ, and I don't expect us to win. So freaking confused by this thread right now. I believe CU SUCKS was referring to Deion Jones, who is currently committed to NU. Aspeedlin, were you referring to Tyrone Neal when you said "TJ," and perhaps just made a small mental slip and combined Tyrone with Jones? If not I am sooo confused. He mist be talking about Deion, my mistake then. And yeah TJ is Tyrone, just gave him a nickname thats all. Why don't you like our chances with him Speed? I guess I'd agree since we've never recruited PA very well... at least that I can remember. I'm only 19 but I've been following recruiting since Baker's class, which was the horrible 2008 recruiting class where things fell apart... this will be my fifth year. We still got some good contributors from that class, interestingly enough. Have we ever had a big time player out of PA?

  18. Four... like any other high schooler. Long day already craze? WOW!!! My bad I assumed this was a post on the JUCO Gerald Bowman. Don't why I did, but I did haha. allow me Speaking of Bowman though, how many years of eligibility does he have? He's a 3 for 2 guy.

  20. Way to poke the bear, throw gas on the fire, etc...
  21. this was our SDSU game....i can't forget that game or the 2nd game against Washington, those games revealed a lot of what we don't believe. last night was just as revealing, out played and yes, out coached, except for some big plays. Very rarely is there a team that comes out and dominates every single week. 2009 Alabama would be an example of a team that very nearly did. Even Auburn last year, lost in all the Cam love, had some close calls. I'd rather not have such close calls during the OOC schedule against Fresno State, but they are no pushover team, I think we all know that. I think a lot of people just have to accept the fact we can be great without being dominant like we were in the 90's. If we can return to that point given more time, great. We were spoiled, because you don't see teams that dominant anymore. Perhaps USC in the early 2000's, but remember, they cheated . I personally am just going to enjoy the ride and accept that we can only handle business from week to week. Hopefully we improve each week and are great by the end of the year. In summary, we're 2-0, no matter how close it was, and I just don't see the point in gloom and dooming things up and predicting 5 or 6 losses.
  22. +1. We are on the same wavelength buddy. I do have to admit, the offensive line looked absolutely atrocious for a lot of the time yesterday, and I don't know that I trust Barney Cotton to clean up that garbage. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
  23. Pessimism be damned. We'll be ready for the Wisconsin game.
  24. I too found the BA CHOMP part a bit odd, but understood it as well. In any case... http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/103538/ba-chomp-ba-chewy-chomp
  25. Scary...but awesome at the same time. Geaux Big Red!!
