  1. It's also relevant b/c Cal was one of his original top five. They were not out of it totally before but hopefully this helps eliminate them. I heard he got put in a cop car on his trip to Florida so I'd almost bet the farm that Owa does not end up there.... So again, we're stuck at an Oregon vs. NU deadlock here.
  2. I just saw a headline on ESPN that said Jake Locker is coming back for his senior season. Oh well, when we beat their silly purple arses as if they were K State, it will look even better now. 2010 IS THE YEAR!
  3. I read somewhere Quentin Toailoa is being groomed to be a Center after switching from Dline...
  4. Let's recruit Beau Davis, he's got some eligibility left I think...
  5. Didn't that bump Yoshi down a spot from last time? Oh well. Screw the rankings. Dudes a beast n will help our O line who sorely needs it.
  6. Proviso East defensive back Corey Cooper still interested in Illinois -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If Illinois football is in unstable mode, coach Ron Zook is keeping that out of the recruiting pitch. Proviso East defensive back Corey Cooper visited Illinois over the weekend along with some other recruits and said the recent firing of four assistant coaches and a 3-9 season haven't deterred him from possibly attending Illinois. "I'm not letting that be part of my thoughts," said Cooper, who was mainly recruited by Dan Disch, who remained on staff but will be a position coach instead of co-defensive coordinator. "[Zook] said he'd be there a lot longer than I will." Cooper, a 6-foot-2 four-star recruit, already orally committed to Illinois. He has visited and is also considering Notre Dame, Nebraska and Arizona. Cooper said he spoke to Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly since he was hired earlier this week. "He seems cool," Cooper said. He plans to visit South Bend to meet with Kelly before making a final decision on a team possibly in January. Cooper will play in the offense/defense All-Star Game in South Carolina in early January. Landing Cooper will be important to the Illini, who were jolted by 6-7, 240-pound tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz, a four-star recruit out of Johnsburg. He had originally committed to Illinois but opted instead for Iowa. According to recruiting Web sites, Illinois currently has just eight oral commitments. ____________________________________________________________ Wow, I had no idea Illinois had only 8 commits. And people b*%$# and moan about our class. I almost feel bad about (hopefully) taking Cooper away. Wish we could steal him from a USC or a Texas.
  7. Spurrier? You mean that guy who refers to himself more in the third person with his self given nickname than he does in the first person? IMHO, Kiffin is easily the biggest d-bag. Something about that guy makes me want to throw a hot brick at his face. Maybe it's his douchebag haircut.
  8. For as much as Monte did for our football program, his son is an absolute d-bag flunkie (see Oakland Raiders, not that anyone else has been able to make them work lately either) to whose face I'd love to hold a hot frying pan.
  9. How do you know how good CC is Billyball? Sure he's got the right speed and looks born to play WR, but who knows how well he'll produce on a college level until he actually steps on one? He looks great, but he's got as good of a chance of burning out and never acheiving anything as he does winning four years of worth of All American status and Biletnikoff Awards... at this point. That being said, I think Kenny Bell and Austin Hill are two very attractive WR recruits.
  10. It's the fact that they are playing in the five star Texas Bowl.
  11. I saw a rivals headline that said "Missouri leaves Carter 'in awe.' " I literally LOL'd outta my seat when I read that. What part left you in awe, buddy? The extra prolific offense that hung all of 10 points on NU (and dropped 7 on TU ((Less than us!)), and lost to Baylor), or that stellar D on the other side of the ball? Or perhaps it was the undying fan support for the number one... umm, number 2 team in the North...
  12. Going after Cameron Newton, the five star JC QB who just wrapped up his season vs. Fort Scott, would not be stupid IMO. I know Zac Lee hasn't been the posterboy for JC QB success, but everyone is different. Hopefully, if Wats somehow dumbed down the playbook enough or if we brought in a new O Coordinator with a simpler scheme, Newton would be able to step in and possibly run it right away. I think he would actually excell at running the zone read and power options, something Wats seems to love. Cam would be an absolute HORSE to bring down, dude runs about 6'6" and 245 lbs. Huge QB. He was at Florida and appeared to be the main man after Tebow, but got busted for stealing a laptop and wound up at Blinn JC. If he's cleaned up his act, I'd absolutely love to see him under center.
  13. Hey I just noticed that Arizona just got their third WR commit from a JUCO WR that apparently was a "big" target for them. Hopefully with them filling up on wideouts, Austin will decide once and for all what we've all known once and for all... that the next few years of his life should be spent at NU. Cmon Austin... you got family here. A shot for great things on the gridiron here. What more could you want?
  14. Possibly that guy meant Braylon Heard? I have no idea how he would've known, but if he was corrent that'd be a pretty good call.
  15. Well, regardless of who the offensive coordinator is next season, if he's interested in running an offense that can MOVE THE BALL, his logical first step would be to fire BARNEY COTTON!
  16. Pretty funny. Gabbert was the recruit that Pinkel flew to see in a helicopter, landing on a field next to his game. Got a commit from another 4-star kid on the same trip - Kony Ealy. 6'6" DE. If memory serves, Ealy's grades may be a major issue. Or I could be totally wrong. Not sure. But if they are and he doesn't make it to Mizzou, Gary Stinkel is going to start developing a reputation as the best coach in the nation at recruiting stud D lineman that never make it to school.
  17. he is listed as the lead recruiter on rivals. btw, that was a good one angryhusker. Actually I think recruiting O-Linemen is something that Cotton is doing really well. He is the one Identifying the talent and making the contact. I believe he is the lead on recruiting them in most cases as well. Just look at who he has brought in for the these 3 classes as well as who is on tap for next year. Cotton is the one that found Qvale. Not sure how good he is doing coaching, but he is doing a good job stocking the O-Line with talent IMO. Also the trip down to Fort Scott was as much if not more about Bo's love of David as it was about Hardrick. The Pelinis love David. You know, I checked on Barney, and your right. For all the crap I give that guy, he actually has been the recruiter for all of our offensive line prospects the last 3 years, as well as a few odd and ends (Okuyemi, Zimmerer, Chris Williams, Ty Evans, Fisher, and... shock... his son Ben). Perhaps we should fire him as O Line coach but retain him as an O-Line Scout . Anyways, check out his bio from Rivals if you want... lists all his recruits. http://nebraska.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?C...1&Year=2010
  18. For what it's worth, I think I pegged this guy pretty much right. Husker Journal: DECEMBER 9 2009. MESSAGE BOARDS CURTIS CARTER, ATH, 5-10, 170, 4.4, STONEWALL (NORTH DE SOTO), LOUISIANA Carter De-Commits “The more I think about it (NU Commitment) distance bothers me. At first when I first visited Nebraska was fine as time went by it was reality that I will be far away from home with my family. That was kind of a big deal to me.” Carter said “Nebraska now kind of runs the ball a lot they recruited me as a slot receiver. Also it’s a comfort thing I only took one trip I don’t have it (NU Visit) to compare it with.” Carter said Show Me Now “Nebraska’s offense kind of bothers me a little bit.” Carter said, “I talked it over with Coach J P (Papuchis) my recruiting coach. He understood where I was coming from. I’m still committed but I have second thoughts. Coach Gilmore, I sat down with him on my recruiting visit how they would use me but I would like to see it first hand, like now.” Missouri Visit “I’m going to Missouri on Friday,” Carter said, “That’s a big recruiting day they are going to have a lot of guys there. I’ve haven’t set anything official yet with TCU but I’m going to talk with the coaches.” Carter said ‘Missouri chucks the ball around man if you want to play receiver that’s the school to go too. Like I say they (Missouri) spread out the ball a lot, a lot of different guys, different formations. I have early playing time coming in at Missouri and the staff is great.” Carter said “I hear from Coach Odom (Missouri) a lot even when I committed to Nebraska we still talked and stuff like that.” Carter added TCU In The Running “TCU attracts me it’s close to home only three and a half hours away. TCU is good they are good. The receiver coach (Burns) is a real nice guy he’s been on me since day one.” Carter said Carter said he is only looking at Nebraska, Missouri and TCU as his college choices Now all you guys thinking the sky is falling and all hope is lost can calm down A TINY BIT. Carter says he's still considering us, so their is a slight chance that we may still see him don the Scarlet and Cream, for those of you that insist we need him. Personally, I'm at the point where if he comes, cool, I'm sure we'll find a way to use his speed. If not, it isn't a huge loss and we'll just have to show him what he passed up the next couple years.
  19. They don't factor in much if at all. The star of Mizzou's class last year, Sheldon Richardson, 5 star DT, was the number 5 ranked player in the nation. Dude didn't even step on campus. Went JUCO route.
  20. Yes. Barney Cotton has done an "excellent job in all areas". Good call. Personally, I would've gone with: No, Barney Cotton has been Barney Cotton-like, and deserves a swift kick in the nuts from Henery (that way, we KNOW he won't miss ).
  21. All this Lee vs. Cody debate is stupid and a moot point anyway. My vote goes to Ron Kellogg Jr. Imagine the endorsements we could rack up with Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam gear...
  22. Well more offensive help should be on the way soon. Someone on Huskerpedia boards seems to think that we may be getting a RB here in the next month or so. Personally, I can only think of two guys: James McConico or Corvin Lamb. Possibly Pat Faulk or Gio Bernard still, but while we are enamored with Faulk at the moment, there is no reason to believe he is looking at us any harder, and Gio seems to be sold on ND. Lamb or McConico would both be good to continue to try and take recruiting strides in CA and FL.
  23. I wouldn't mind at all if Spano took the starting job away from Hair Gel next year. He was committed to Ok St. before he switched to us, so it's not like he was some unknown commodity when we recruited him. This would be excellent as it would give Cody a year to redshirt and hopefully prepare him better to challenge Kody in the future. If he can't wrestle the job away from Spano after that, then Spano is bound to be doing something right. I just do not like exhausting a year of Cody's eligibility when we don't have to.
  24. Here's a stat for you: 1 out of every 1 Barney Cottons needs to fired for us to have a successful offense.
