  1. Al Gore. He raised our awareness of Manbearpig AND he invented the Internet. He's practically a Marvel superhero. (In all seriousness, I voted for Gore. Bummed out that he didn't win.)
  2. This cartoon from last June got the artist fired. Oops! LINK
  3. Nice! That's quite a haul. Two Kobes in the portal! Incoming!!
  4. Minor men's programs already feel the heat from Title IX. Covid-19 revenue hits will be the death knell of many. Teams like men's cross country are running scared. /sorry

You can see how much our talent levels have trended downward since the days of Osborne. Under Osborne we'd send five to eight guys to the NFL each year—including a lot of 1st and 2nd round picks. It's a sad state of affairs now.
  6. No, the waiters and pro-shop people are helping with the grounds maintenance. I know them all. It's weird. I drive past the place nearly every day--it's four blocks from my house. It's frustrating that the course is in immaculate shape, but I can't walk a quick nine. Shoot, I can't even use the driving range or practice greens.
  7. I've worked by myself for quite a few years. I keep beer in the fridge at work, and a stocked liquor cabinet. But I just don't feel the urge to drink at work. Never have. But when I get home I relax with a couple or three drinks every night. So there's that.
  8. Ha ha! We do have a couple practice mats on the back patio. We pitch out into the back yard at a cast iron bell I mounted a foot or so off the ground. It's hard to hit!
  9. Coronavirus State-By-State Projections: When Will Each State Peak? By Sean McMinn www.npr.com April 7, 2020 4:50 PM ET Updated at 7:20 p.m. ET Friday April 7, 2020 As COVID-19 surges in places throughout the country, Americans are left to wonder, "When will my state hit its worst point?" A widely cited model offers some predictions. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation's COVID-19 projections were cited in recent White House briefings and take into account how the pandemic is playing out in several countries around the world. They incorporate the current trend line of deaths in U.S. states and the estimated impact of social distancing measures to predict when each state might reach peak daily deaths and hospital usage. LINK ========================================== Model towards the bottom of this article predicting peak date for each state. I think this model is cited in the C-19 thread. I just didn't want this link to get lost in that 50+ page thread. Nebraska: May 2 Colorado: April 10 Iowa: May 2 Illinois: April 8 Indiana: April 13 California: April 15 New York: April 9
  10. That's exactly the way I feel. I don't particularly care for Tom Cruise but he's in quite a few movies that I like. "Edge of Tomorrow", "Minority Report", "A Few Good Men", and others. I feel the same way about Kevin Costner. Don't care for him. Love his movies.
  11. I saw that live. The guy I was watching with said, "What the heck is he doing?" (Because at first it looked like he flubbed it from where it landed.) I said, "It might end up pretty close."
  12. 10 Facts That Show How Amazing the Female Body Is LINK Heh. They look a LOT better with skin.
  13. Can I take that class? I probably have some of that music on cassette and CD.
  14. I like that idea! Especially if you showed films they might not ordinarily see. That would make a good thread. The two or three movies you'd show from each decade if you were the teacher.
  15. And you are educating the next generation. We may be in trouble. lol
  16. Agreed! Hoiberg has the keys to the transport portal. He pwns that beyotch! I notice Minny at #3 and tOSU #6, both teams that will cause us headaches next season.
  17. Yeah, I'm pretty into sci-fi as well (—even though I hadn't seen The Matrix end-to-end until this past week). I notice Minority Report is now on Netflix. I'll try to get my son to watch that too. I think Minority Report is much better sci-fi than The Matrix. /jmho
  18. Yeah, I never was a big fan of The Matrix. I tried to watch it a couple of times previously, but lost interest. But my son sort of liked it so I watched the whole thing with him. And it was good! I think he like it because, like all kids, he plays video games. And the idea that we could all be in a virtual reality that's not real life intrigues him. ===================== btw, He made an interesting observation about the Matrix. He noted that Neo and the Agents could move faster than bullets. He asked me why they wouldn't they just throw the bullets instead of shooting them. lol
  19. When a woman calls a guy to tell him something why does she have to restate the entire previous conversation?  Why can't she just skip all that and just take 10 seconds to tell him the one new thing added to the conversation?

@Moiraine  Yeah, I'd be pissed if someone did that to me.  And more than a bit grossed out too.

@NUance I thought it was funny, heh.

  20. Okay, that's pretty freaky. I sure remember the sunglasses. And there are others. I mean, the color chartreuse, it's kind of a reddish color right? Here's more: LINK
  21. Exactly! It's crazy. I think they are woefully mismanaging the whole situation.
  22. Army field hospital for Covid-19 surge leaves Seattle after 9 days. It never saw a patient APR 08, 2020 at 1:05 PM By Liz Brazile The 250-bed facility, for which setup began on March 30, was intended to help Washington state's health care system tend to non Covid-19 patients in the event of a hospital surge. But just three days after announcing the facility was ready to receive patients, officials say they're returning the hospital to the federal government. The action is aimed at helping another state with a more significant need for hospital capacity at this time, according to the Governor's Office. The facility did not see any patients during the time it was slated to operate in Seattle. LINK ============================================================== WTF??
  23. All the golf course employees are still working. Even though the restaurant and lounge are close none of the kitchen staff, waiters, etc. have been laid off. I could understand prohibiting golf carts due to the possibility of passing germs on the steering wheel, etc. But I can't see how walking the golf course would pose even the most remote threat. Then again, my perspective is a bit biased. lol
  24. The governor of Illinois shutdown all golf course due to Covid-19. At first this affected only public golf courses. Recently however, he clarified his order as applying to private courses as well. So for the time being a person in the state of Illinois can't get a bit of exercise by walking nine holes--even though they might not be within 50 yards of anyone else on the course. The mayor of my town appear on local television to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on local businesses and citizens. He requested questions beforehand, saying he'd address them in his remarks. This was my question to him: Why is it okay to walk 2 or 3 miles on public sidewalks and walking trails to get some exercise, but walking 2 or 3 miles carrying a bag of golf clubs is prohibited? Does golf cause Covid-19? He totally ignored my question.
