  1. Great post. That answers a lot of questions that I had about your Defense. If this game was being played in the Rose Bowl again I would be chalking it up as a loss right now. I just don't think our young front seven could handle the road environment at this point. So I guess I am a little more optimistic knowing that UCLA is very young team as well. Hopefully (for us ) the atmosphere at Memorial Stadium can cause some problems for your young team. I'm still not ready to predict a Husker win, but I think we have a good shot. I know if I was putting money on this game I would be taking the points.
  2. I don't disagree with you guys at all. I hope it is clear cut before the season starts and the coaches have their guy, but considering Bo's mantra is "competition" I could just see it playing out like that. Two guys who are so green, who have very similar skill sets, and similar potential. Our non-con schedule kind of allows for it as well. Florida Atlantic - McNeese St. - Fresno St. - Miami . I could see those guys rotating quarters for the first couple games. But like I said. I hope we have a clear cut starter going into the opener.
  3. You have to think that UCLA's offense is going to be improved this year. Returning 4 starters on the o-line, Hundley, most recievers. That TE (Fauria?) is gone and Franklin as well. There young RB looks pretty good though and anytime you have that many returning starters on the O-line you have to be optimistic. I don't know about the D though. They return 6 on D I think I read. I remember reading in the off season that their D-line depth was a concern. Owa isn't playing. But Bar is a stud and they have a ton of athleticism and speed on D (they have been recruiting very well). Did anyone get a chance to watch them against Nevada? Saw some highlights but mostly showed the offense.
  4. If we play like we did against Wyoming I won't be surprised one bit to see them win by three TDs. I can't fault their fans for being confident. They should be. If we play like we did against Wyoming I think it will be much worse than 3 TDs.
  5. I can't help but wonder if he saw all the young talent on the DL and thought to himself that he would likely have to wait a long time to get on the field. I think it is going to be difficult to recruit for the front 7 this year for that reason. Not that we can't find kids who don't care about that but they are going to have to be the right kind of kids to commit into that kind of situation.
  6. I would bet they start gameplanning around Gregory. Yeah, I'll bet you're right. Probably a lot of OCs and O-line coaches watching film on him. What little there is of it anyway. They can quite double-teaming VV at their own peril. Or they are going to have to start leaving that back in the backfield on obvious passing downs. If they don't they're going to pay for it.
  7. Both Stanton and Armstrong have the it factor when it comes to Leadership at the QB spot according to all that has been written about them. I really feel like the QB battle won't be truly decided until a couple of games into the '14 season after we see who shines under the lights.
  8. I'm not so sure that Santos is out of position there. It just seems like he was playing tentatively. I think that as he becomes more confident with his calls he will play much faster. That being said, if Bando is showing he can step in and play better than you won't here any complaining from me.
  9. One of the articles out there says it is a shoulder bruise. If none of the players or coaches verified that on record I assume that whatever media guy wrote that (McEweon I think) must have got someone to say something.
  10. Wow Knapp thanks for all the Pictures! Great work as usual. I would buy you a Pabst Blue Ribbon (Board) if I happened to bump into ya. But seriously though, thanks!!!
  11. That was the most intense Husker prayer I have heard since Wistrom stopped leading it. I feel tingly all over. Anybody know who is leading it in this video?
  12. Is it just me or does it seem like Bama is putting out way more offers to Lineman outside of the south this year? I thought they typically just locked up most of the talent from Alabama and surrounding states.
  13. I think the season we have will make a big difference in whether we can land some recruits like Wallace this year or not. We need a buzz about us at the end of the year.
  14. Bummer. I just feel like we need to be deeper at DL than any other position due to all of the injuries and defections that seem to occur there. And the importance of the position itself.I just hope we get Mixon here in January. I was really impressed by his film. I still hope we try to land 2 more DL recruits than we were originally planning on however. And we haven't exactly been world beaters staying in the mix with big time DLman this year.
  15. Let's keep our fingers crossed. It would suck to lose both of our late DE steals from last recruiting class.
  16. It looks like Love may end up redshirting as well, so we might have a pretty good group staggered a year behind. I really like walk-on Jack Fordon as well and I'm guessing the only reason he was not on the 105 this year is because he is still getting over an injury from his senior year. Great news about Newby!
  17. Man those brunettes are smokin, but the two blondes are some real ugly skanks!
  18. Truer words were never spoken on/about Huskerboard. The anti-Herbstreit blatherers are nothing short of hilarious. Actually these might be truer words.
  19. That will happen every year with every offensive coordinator for every team in the country always. Yep. I remember how much flak Osborne took over the short-side option and the lack of a dropback passing game. Then that all went away when Tommie and crew started dominating. Actually I remember going to a game after we had won a championship and while Osborne was still there, it may have been 96, and I can still hear the old lady behind us yelling "we need a new coach out there calling the plays" because we had to punt on the first series... Yes sir. I've said it here before. It was 1996. First game back from the tempe debacle. Against Colorado St. Not sure of the exact score, but it's 40-something to 3 or 6 ish. Guy behind yells as loud as he can "Osborne, youre washed up. Time to move on down the road". Most likely in reference to Frost playing qb. But it was just comical. Fu**in morons.
