  1. my cousin played at Nebraska in the 80's. , he said practice back then was part survival. more times than not fights broke out as the competition to play was so fierce...he fought at times to show he belonged, then ran the stairs, rinse repeat...if you didn't fight when challenged, you were viewed as weak. that culture has probably disappeared since guys like raiola left....practice used to be worse than games...
  2. God, I hope the stands are half empty for Minnesota. Some of these players don't deserve our support. "how much fun and energy we brought to practice all week" not sure how fun practice should be all week after giving up 408 yards to a single back setting an NCAA record and 56 unanswered points............i see that as a big part of the problem...id think practice might be a bit tense..but that's just me...
  3. i've been checked out for a while, now. maybe a few years, i'm still interested, but its muted. I actually started a thread like this a few weeks ago and then just decided even that wasn't worth it! I don't get to Lincoln as much anymore. Since we left the Big 12, we get 0 coverage in KC, so i don't hear much anymore except on the internet. i don't put husker games ahead of anything anymore, and that's probably good for me and my family, bad for Nebraska. ill have espn gamecast on my phone. ,but that's all. if i happen to be home which is rare in the fall. ill watch. problem is, we are where we all feared we would get to if things got bad. things are bad. we are here. as i said in another thread if it isn't financially damaging to N yet, but i think its coming. i really never thought this could happen at Nebraska
  4. i'd say -buy low, sell high -look at their moms ankles -You need to call woman twice. First time that she could find the phone in her bag, second - to answer. -Smoking a cigarette reduces life by 5 minutes. Laughing increases life by 10 minutes. Conclusion: a laughing smoker never dies. -early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese -be yourself, unless you are a unicorn, then be a unicorn! -you don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than your buddy that's what id say
  5. hell --drop the massive blowouts, be competitive in your losses, get a little bit better every once in a while and im happy...no problems. he can stay till he's 80.
  6. i remember a day when we used to tell the oposing defense what we were about to run
  7. for a projected early draft, he sure gets hurt a lot
  8. there were a lot of good articles in the OWH and LJS today...its just a matter of time...this is soo over...even the press isn't protecting their ability to get inside the program and do their job with how they write... 408 is the back breaker. kinda like a date or event, thats number will always mean something more to us going forward
  9. i know its still raw, but i think 408 is it. its a mark that was built by big teams beating up on little teams over more than a century and what...10,000 games?....except. yesterday, we are supposed to be a big team.
  10. the psychiatrist is probably on "leave of absence" to seek professional help for themselves at this point...
  11. unfortunatley if it was, i think teams like K state wouldnt be what they are most years and perenial top 10 recruiting classes would always be the top 10 teams. Texas would be better...coaching and leadership is everything...
  12. Why are people still with this mindset? All wins are not created equal. Coaches know this. Getting blown out on national TV a few times a year while beating up on the dregs, is not what is expected at many schools. It will keep you at Illinois and Indiana. It gets you fired at places that expect a conference championship on occasion. Coaches know this, and any you really want, embrace it. They expect to win when it counts. What do Auburn, Bama, ole miss, miss state and there current coaches have in common? When you get done figuring that out. You'll see my point. It's not a "mindset" to be a realist. A respectable isn't gonna come here to take over this program after winning 9 games. You say all wins are not created equal. Then neither are losses. The problem is most of the fans are still living in 1995. You have all been spoiled by the success of 90s, but yet to seem to forget that this was an average program beating up on patsies for much of the Osborne era.... Only to blow it against OU and the bowl game. You sir are an idiot I was around then ,been around, we consistenly were a team that vied for the top 10, we played hard smart football, we did not give up , we played the best teams in the country and COMPETED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is you and others like you that are the bane of this program, the difference between now and then...and I was around then...Osborne didnt win the big games...but we weren't completely out everything'd and breathtakingly embarrassed. a lot of times they were scores like 20-10 or 20-17 or a few 31-10's, going for 2 and losing the natl championship or losing the natl championship when we were favored......not setting NCAA records for 408 yards of offense by a single player, or blowout loss after blowout loss on natl tv to anyone with a decent team, struggling with McNeese,SD state, or any preseason...and setting all kinds of bad records...49 unanswered points?, fielding a top 50 offense or defense(pick the year). on and on....our loss to Colorado in 2001 was the first time in my lifetime I could recall something like that... Osborne was going to be fired after the bluebonnet bowl had he not won it, but that was not for losing big games by 50 or whatever..not the horrendous set of bad records we have set in the past 10 years.... I'm not living in 1995, I would like us to lose respectably if we are going to lose but see progress.. I actually think our program has fallen worse than we think...its kinda like putting the frog in warm water and bringing it to a boil...its been on such a downhill slide that we have lost touch with exactly how bad it is.... this has gotten to the point of doing financial damage to our brand and program let alone ability to compete
  13. what did we learn today? for a few years I have usually been saying "nothing" because its the same broken record as always. today I would have to say "its actually worse than I thought" that's what we learned today
  14. did anyone else in KC area here this last night? Im driving back from bow hunting last night just north of Lawrence surfing channels and pick up a discussion about nebraska football...its on the pregame-pregame Kstate show... on 810 am i believe. we dont get any nebraska coverage down here in KC anymore so im real interested...but i wasnt expecting what i heard next,it really left me speechless... in a very scripted, childish , stick it in your face nebraska football fans style, this guy is talking about Nebraska leaving the Big 12 for the B1G. he makes the following statements... how does it feel playing in a watered down 14 team B1G how does it feel adding rutgers and maryland He lists off our home schedule this year and how bad it is he makes the case that the "greatest travelling fans" don't travel anymore that nebraska leaving and WV coming in was such an upgrade for the Big12 and WV that the Big 12 is so superior to B1G The Big 12 is having a great time making lotsa money with 10 teams and everyone is so happy that the end of the Big 12 will never happen we are irrelelevant on and on and on... not once did he mention Mizzou or aTm, leaving for the SEC and I came into this in the middle of his rant! wish I could have heard all of it! all i could think was how K state is about to play a nationally televised game for a great shot at the Final 4, have a great coach, are(were) doing well with only 1 loss barely to a great Auburn team, KSU is ranked #7, and this is what he is spending 2 minutes on his show? this is how he is signing off? 3 years after the fact out of the blue? the tone was a strange mixture of nanny nanny boo boo, childish, unprofessionsal, out of place, giddyness. i thought us leaving was water under the bridge by now, but i guess not for one K state radio guy...he's still butt hurt..does kstate even have a conference title yet? did anyone else hear this?
  15. back in the old big 8 /big12 days, growing up in iowa, we always busted the big 10's balls for being a poor conference comparably. that hasn't changed
  16. If P was any better we would have lost this game on turnovers
  17. still one of the best... Huskers are top 5
  18. didn't Braxton Miller go out of that game in second quarter, we were getting spanked, then he's gone, bad back up comes in starts throwing into the stands? that was a different team with Miller gone. i'm not trying to rain on the party, i see this comment from time t time and it hits me funny. I never really considered that game an upset/comeback as they weren't remotely full strength by any stretch with out Miller. Miller stays in, I think we get whooped cause that's where that game was headed.. oh and back to the main point...I hope this comes full circle and the B1G and Big 12 come into prominence and EScraPN is stuckwith a crappy SEC..long shot but id laugh. this is the most vivid example of biased press coverage...but lets face it, college football has become sooo money focused does any of this surprise us? fox owns 49% or 51% whatever of the B1G...
  19. he was gonna get rocked he was jumping out of fear. epic fly tho
