Defense wins championships. Just ask Ohio St. and Oklahoma, who's big bad offenses went up agains SEC defenses (one of which was Pelini's) in each of the last 3 years only be hand fed a can of ass whippin. We only scored 17, points, whoopee, they only got 3. How many times you see Florida or Alabama score just 17 or 20 points and still have it look like a dominating victory. Bo has brought the brand of SEC foot ball up here-awesome defense, solid running game, minimized offensive mistakes, sound special teams- and you know what it's working. We've learned the hard way with Callahan, what good is 34 points when your opponent scored 41. Now for Kansas St last night, what good was your 300 yard that the KSU boards are so proud of today in saying Nebraska is not that good, when you have 3 points, and we had 17. hmm.

17-3, a 14 point win this year feels like 28-3 or even 35-3 other years with this defense.

I remember a couple of play calls that I was not happy with. One was already brought up. not runnin again on 2nd and 5, leading to a pick, and a shotgun read on a 3rd and two. But overall the game was called well, but there is still some breakdowns in playcalling when it comes to deviating from what works.

A lot of these type of things base their evaluations on stats, because they obviously do not have the chance to see all players plays a significant amount of time. In saying that, this fella may have only seen Suh play in the Kansas game last week, which was by far the d's worst effort, and may have seen Mccoy 3or 4 times. Bottom line is, Suh's stats do not fully represent how he completely changes the game, week after week. Pass breakups-blocked kicks-absorbing triple teams play after play, opening it up for every one else on the down four and the backers. Suh's presence alone is enough to change offenses' scheming, not just making plays. There is no other player like that in college football, and honestly, i dont know if there ever has been.

You see a lot of schools layin out colored t-shirts on the seats before games to "_____ out" the crowd, hows about summoning the University to buy 87000 papaer cups and set one on every seat before the game. How much could 87000 cup cost. imagine 87000 people hollarin thur a cup like that?

Say what you want about him, but I believe Lawrence Phillips ranks as one of the best running backs ever at NU. Fabian Washington at Corner? You gotta put Barron Miles in there along with Williams and/or Ralph Brown. I personally think there have been better MLB's than Barrett Ruud, Barrett seemed to be the best of an average defense for 2 years, if not poor in 04, and seemed to make most of the tackles, breaking the record. I would say a Carlos Polk for that. Trev Alberts, tho he does deserve a spot on this team without question, is somewhat questionable to me because he did spend most of his career as a rush end, just happened to be listed as an OLB during the 5-2 days of the early 90's and was basically made into a rush end during the transition to the 4-3 in 93. Kris Brown in my eyes should be the KOS spot clearly, he blasted kick after kick into the endzone, tho we never really found out how clutch he was as a field goal kicker cuz he played in an era of so many blowout. Alex Henery on the other hand has been as clutch as ever, up until the miss this year agains OU.

The defense is a forgone conclusion, it will as good if not better. I'm just gonna talk about the offense. The running game should be good. Should be a healthy Burkhead and Helu and Robinson. Hmm. Another winter of development for fullback Legate. Another winter of development for Green and Lee. How bout the offensive line. 4 starters back, yes say what you want about this year, but we're talkin next after more development and getting healthy. Watson should be better too, developing an offense more suited to our personnell. An offensive identity has pretty much been found and they have all off-season to work at it. I see an improved team with lots of experience that could very well be a sleeper of the title contenders.

Yes, he did call Cookie a punk after he made an aggressive play in trying to take the ball away from Pretty Boy Sharon Collins, but calling him a punk wasnt the half of it. First, the psychological aspects. Nebraska has the edge, favortites, at home, knowing the offense is starting to turn the corner, the defense knows their the best, and showin that swagger, Coach Pelini will not allow that Iowa St. disaster to happen twice in the same season. This will be focused and jacked knowin what's on the line, on senior night. Kansas St., on the other hand, will be in an environment they have not had to be in yet this year, this large of a road crowd in this kind of a big game atmosphere (oklahoma does not count, face it, the sooeners did not take them seriously) The OU-KSU game was over when it started, just wound up closer than it should have cuz OU went to sleep. This face lies deep in the hearts of every K-State player. Now, x's and o's, Nebraska has more talent, no ifs ands or buts and are their own worst enemy as well. No mistakes, limit penalties, it's a 4 touchdown win at least. K-state keeps it close thru 2 qtrs because of their good run defense, but nebraska's talent and depth pulls away in second half along with a defensive score of some sort by the Blackshirts to get the ball rollin. I think Banks makes a big play of some sort or the cats early to give them some hope and momentum to carry them thru the first half, but as the second half wears on, Nebraska takes control.

Remember the the big recruiting weekend we created with our last home game. We have an impact in all aspects of our program like no other in the country. Let's continue to get better ourselves in making recruits want to come here no matter what.

Remember to go thru what these have been thru, coming into a program that looked as if was going to get better under Callahan, then having the wheels fall, then, a 95% new coaching staff come in, change the attitude and idea, and now their responsible for helping ride the ship and set a standard. I'm glad Gill got his shot. He needs to be a head coach. I'd rather he went somewhere other than KU but it will be a step up and a lot more money for him. I think the fat coach's plight is a good lesson in not being an Ahole if you have a real sucky season. After two straight bowl games the wheels fell off this year.
