  1. You mean SOME fans. I adore Bo and think he is/was a perfect fit for our program at such a needy time in 2007, and still so to this day. And, most people I interact with think the same thing. The other side is the minority. Bo has gone off on tangent in pressers on two occasions that I know of about how special it is here. One was just this passed signing day. The other? I'm not sure, but think it was prior to the Ohio St game '12 edition. He explains how he's coached at numerous NFL and college locations and that there really is no place like Nebraska and how this program and fanbase are so reliant upon intangible attributes that are simply irrelevant at every other program. We rely so much upon tradition and values and doing the right thing and walk-ons and mentality. That house was torn to shreds it what is now known as the dark years (2004-2007). I truly believe that Bo has spent so much time trying to reestablish the "special" aspects of our program-guided by TO of course-that it has taken away from some of the on-field executions. I think he couldve had a little more of success early on but that it may have been a house of cards without the stuff that's really important to this state and the program. There's too many of them, and theyre just inexplainable. But this is all but the only thing this state has had to lean on for decades. NO ONE else in the country knows what that is like. I think Bo got a serious taste of that in '03, and he is fully aware of what it takes to make this machine go. He knows you cant put the buggy in front of the horse here. He really is promoting the family atmosphere to the fullest extent, and it's obvious that he genuinely believes in it. Hell, son gets to go to Duke/UNC and daughter gets to do the spring game tunnel walk and hang out on the field. Yeah I meant to say a vocal minority of fans, and they have no say on what Eichorst does with the coaching staff.
  2. It seems like the only people that have a problem with Pelini are the fans, and they have very little say in the program. Just from that little bit, the only ways Pelini is going to leave Nebraska is if he can't stand the fishbowl and gets the right job offer at the same time, he has a couple of years of sub par performances, or there is a scandal on par to what happened at OSU. I find it very hard to believe that we could find a better fit than Pelini at Nebraska. Sure we might be able to find someone who might be more successful in wins and losses right away, but it would be hard to downright impossible to find someone who gets Nebraska like he does.
  3. Good pass and catch by Armstrong and Moore.
  4. Great throw, great catch, but our DBs absolutely need to learn how to track thrown balls better.
  5. O has been good going both ways, but everything has been pretty vanilla on defense. They've also stopped action to run drills that earned points for both teams.
  6. And on Armstrong's first play he decides to follow Martinez's example.
  7. White team is playing pretty good. Kellog has shown he can throw the ball pretty well. Defense has been kinda worrying on both sides.
  8. Rex Burkhead graduated for our sins.

    1. KJ.

      Stolen from TWOS.

Of course it was. If you haven't read it, go read it.

  9. If Fitzgerald plays Colter at QB the full game they beat us plain and simple. His bonehead idea of playing the non-mobile QB against a defense that can't stop the mobile QB lost him the game. 2nd best coach in the conference????????? The other hand to that is after OSU it looked like Bo was taking the Safeties and keying to stop Colter. The reason why Fitz was playing the statue was because we were giving him those throws, they just didn't convert outside of the one touchdown. Here are Colter's stats for the game: /20 Nebraska Passing 1 2 5 50.0 5 0 0 71.0 Rushing 14 35 2.5 9 0 He was largely ineffective when he was at QB.
  10. Has he played a down of football? Not to be too down on South Dakota State, but it's South Dakota State. All we know about him right now is that he tests real well and he's slated to start at a FCS school. SDSU might have graduated a Senior Center last year and Shoff is the first guy up because they don't have anyone else. Physical testing does not equal success on the field.
  11. Agree. The 2012 class was too small. If he graduated in 2011 or this year, he would have gotten an offer.
  12. Ameer's not going to be a returnman because he gets enough touches and wear at RB.
  13. I'd rather keep Bell away from being a returner. Not that he doesn't have the skills for it, I think he's just a better receiver. Put Moore and Turner back there for now, and see what comes up during fall camp when the freshmen come in.
  14. So the USMNT is playing in a snow storm tonight on ESPN2. Just thought you should all know.

I'm thinking you mixed Costa Rica up with Columbia.

  15. At the beginning of the year, Jackson beat Pensick out at Center by a small margin, and by the end of the year Pensick was too entrenched in the guard rotation that they kept him there. So in reality the OL is only replacing Choi, and there's a number of guys this spring and at least one in the summer to replace him. I really wouldn't be surprised if we went more 3 WR sets this year to keep Bell, Enunwa, and Turner on the field. Keeping one of our strengths on the field while having our most experienced TE with them.
  16. If it was a problem we would have learned about it before now.
  17. Isn't Nickens a walk-on? Yeah he got into the discussion about playing time on the OL, but there are other guys ahead of him. His moving position is probably a combination of needing bodies at DT and the fact that the coaches think Nickens has what it takes to play the position. Jackson jumped sides of the ball every camp it seemed and he ended up being great at Center last year. How many starters or 2nd teamers have changed position as significantly as Nickens just did? Baptiste is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head that's still on the team. Then there's Jackson. Turner was a QB coming out of HS, but I don't think after his first camp he was anything other than WR. The only contributor that has left the program has been Heard. Every single other member of the 2011 class that has left had either played very little and were sitting behind someone in the depth chart (Green and Moore after the line got healthy) or hadn't contributed at all, heck Klachko has already stopped playing football all together.
  18. He did not TARGET Gabi's head, even though helmet to helmet happened. Maybe the offensive play should be ejected if his actions cause the contact. You may have misunderstood me or I am misunderstanding you, but, that is the point I'm making. It is 100% Gabberts fault that head to head happened. Osborne wouldve laid him out with his shoulder but Blaine hunches down and shows his head at the last split second. I agree with you. Hence my last sentence That whole play was a clustered up mess by the refs. After the hit they kind of just sat and stared blankly around while Allen picked up the fumble and ran it into the end zone. They then went and reviewed the play and came up with absolutely nothing. They didn't call the play dead after Gabbert went down. God the Big XII had absolutely horrendous refs for our games.
  19. The biggest thing is that Safety is the most mentally intensive spot on Pelini's defense, and that's what has held people back from playing. I think Pelini is going to look at how he's run things up to this point and change things. He's lost too many of his older and more experienced to not change. We are going to see the younger, more athletic guys play because of necessity. Also who on defense has been underutilized? After 2010, Courtney Osbourne ended up having trouble with concussions and other injuries. Martin had trouble with the mental aspects of being a LB, so was moved to DE and excelled. The biggest problem that Pelini has had in player management is that his first few recruiting classes were short on game changers. He got a number of good starters and quality men, but outside of Rex, Baker, and Martin, who was more than just a solid contributor?
  20. Reed probably tested his way into a draft pick. I'm not so surprised about the 4.4, but the 41" vertical is crazy. With the way that teams are using 2 TEs, he's definitely going to be picked up by someone.
  21. Minnesota hits a buzzer beater, too bad they were down by 5. Crazy end to the game, Nebrasketball gets up by 5 with 13 seconds left. Minnesota goes down the floor for a quick 2, and then Gallegos gets a 5 second call on the ensuing inbounds. Crazy end to the game and a crazy end to college basketball at Devaney.
  22. Anyone else think it's wildly funny that after Turner jumps offside Pelini jumps all over him and throws down his hat? With as much crap he gets about his temper nationally, it was a nice touch. It was a good idea to start out Spring practice and definitely helps out team camaraderie.
  23. One thing you're forgetting is that Wisky only did that stand up DT/LB motion thing when it was an obvious passing situation. It was never done on first down until the game was in hand.
