Arky State scored 34 points against an Oregon team who had shut down for the day. They were seriously up like 49-7 at halftime. I think they had there 2nd string QB playing in the 2nd quarter. While it's true they did score 34 points, it's how they scored is what you should look at.

A telling thing though is that there was a quote by Beck that said that he didn't know that Burkhead was out for the game until something like the middle of 2nd quarter. His gameplan was what was shown and what we ran. I think Burkhead possibly could have broken some tackles that Abdullah didn't, but there was nothing that was stopping us in the first half. That being said I think Martinez is going to get 3 or 4 TDs tomorrow, then against Idaho State he's going to get 4 or 5. He'll have 13 by the end of the 1st half in the Wisconsin game.

Sounds like what we had in 2010. Once we faced any semblance of a D, our O stalled and it stalled big time.

I can't really remember, but what type of talk was there leading up to the Washington game 2 years ago? There was a lot of talk about Locker as he was still in the Heisman talk. I think all this talk about UCLA is ridiculous. 1st year coach with the team still adjusting is going to be the biggest factor. Also the fact that Rice's offense was moving pretty well and had about tied the game when their starting QB got hurt.

There was a story on Omaha.com that was posted earlier today that talked about that. Martinez audibled to the route, but since the way the formation was set up Turner couldn't cross the line without it being a penalty. Taariq Allen didn't move just to be certain. Great play that sort of reminded me of the play against Wisky where we went trips to one side, the two outside men ran hard button hooks and the inside guy ran a flag. CBs bit on the hooks leaving the Safety having to travel a long way to make a play.

The 2 penalties ended up being offensive and defensive PI. Very clean day by the whole team.

Jackson was all over the place on the field. Very high motor, found him several times 10-15 yards down the field looking for someone to block.

Jackson has been absolutely everywhere today. Seems like all of the runs to the outside he's out there looking for someone to block.

I would like to see Martinez keep it on a zone read. I don't know if they were running zone read earlier but it seemed like he should have kept it on a couple of runs.

Anyone else see the defender shoving the receiver before the ball got there? Good catch and good concentration, but PI should have been called.

Overall Dirk has some really great Subjective pieces (see his Stafford piece last week and I think he did the Brown/Abdullah one last year), but his objective pieces he can be a little grading to the point he crosses the line (see Martinez before the OSU game). McKewon is a good writer, but I think Nytawa is the best over at the Herald.

Definitely going to pick up the paper on Sunday.

And the Green they were talking about wasn't Aaron it was Cody. Both the Journalstar and World Herald had write ups about him winning the starting job at Tulsa. He likened the girls and parties as superficial things and something he needed to get away from. It didn't work out for him here but going down to Tulsa and working with the Scout team down there got his head on straight. I wish him the best.

Biggest thing about that game I remember (after Helu's 307 yards) is the atrociously bad call they made on the Osbourne hit. Not that I think it was targeting, the fact that Gabbert clearly lost the ball after the hit, Allen picks it up and runs it in and they call it a dead ball. There were about 3 or 4 different calls they could have made and they did nothing.

I think it was on the B1G preview show but Bo admitted to being stagnant on defense. Maybe being a little to comfortable with what they had. With Kaz coming in I think we're going to be more aggressive up front

I say if we have room and he's good enough we give him the chance. I trust our staff and players to keep him away from the same troubles that are plaguing him at Auburn. Just a couple questions though, has he played any at Auburn? and if he has how has he done?

Is that what our away jerseys are going to look like this year? If so, they're pretty sharp. Glad to see the season starting again.

Robinson had a monster season as a Sophomore and the fact that he's led Michigan to major comebacks against ND the last two years. He's an exciting runner, and he did win a BCS game last year. It does make him to most accomplished, but he's not that much better than Martinez.

I guess McKweon has a good idea what the alternates look like. Hopefully we get an official announcement soon.
