  1. I like what JP is hinting at. It's more about trying to teach the players that if you truly want to win championships and have a banner of your own then you have to work for it. Like blood, sweat and tears work for it. When you're 2-3 you do need a wake up call so I like the jist of what he is implying. A lot.
  2. Hope not. Here is a comparison that will make some folks angry. Some posters (myself) are not to thrilled with Riley after 5 games, based upon performance. Maybe, just maybe, the staff is not satisfied with the RB play after 5 games. Maybe they have decided that something needs to be done in an attempt to get wins, motivate guys etc..... If folks argue to give Riley more time, maybe burning shirts/benching/roster management is his attempt at this. If Stevenson is as advertised, I applaud Riley for this move. Even if it fails, he is trying something. Thats a positive in my book. (Like to see him unleash the Davis twins as thin as we are on DL and DE) That's just it. When it comes to the running backs it's as if Riley is just throwing things against the wall to see what sticks instead of actually recognizing proper who should be lined up in the backfield getting the ball. First Newby then Janovich then Ozigbo now Stevenson? Forget about Mikale Wilbon mind you. The guy who's shown probably the best flashes potential wise of all of them in that he can both run and catch/make people miss but instead is just riding pine.
  3. What's he supposed to say??? Of course he's not going to talk badly about a new Nebraska coach regardless of who it is. He's not going to dog any new coach even if it's Mike Riley or someone else.
  4. I live about 4 miles from Wrigley and lots of car horns honking, people yelling in the streets. If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd go out and join them. Oh yeah also....
  5. The Ducks are currently 11th in the country in total offense. Without Mariota. He can also recruit. http://247sports.com/Coach/Scott-Frost-31/AllTimeRecruits
  6. CC Sabathia even though his ERA was 4 something overall this year and is arguably their ace checked himself into an alcohol rehab center and let the Yankees know this past Sunday that he was effectively going to miss the playoffs. Apparently he went on a bender the entire weekend this past weekend against Baltimore and hit bottom. He got the win last week against the Red Sox that clinched the Yankees return to the post season and he was 2-1 with a 2.17 ERA in his last 5 starts leading up to all of this.
  7. After some thought if Nebraska could actually start resembling a good football team which again after some thought I think it's reasonably possible that they could. I think Nebraska has some talent but the question to me anyway seems to be can these coaches figure out how to use it? Also can Nebraska's defense improve? My gut says....it's going to be a long season but if these coaches and players could become better defensively (the real question about this team imo) and find a rhythm and dare I say identity on offense I would like to see them in the championship game. I've been hard on Riley but screw it. It is what it is. I just hope it doesn't get ugly.
  8. zoogs regardless. In the end OSU while he was there were not known for being a consistently good football team. A mediocre one at best who had some moments while he was there but that's all those were. Moments. His last 2 years at OSU he was 7-6 and then he went 5-7 in his last year there. Not exactly a trend upward.

  10. I think I'll just take the author's word on this. And not scroll through the tweets in that article to see for myself. Maybe this should have been the St. Paddy's day promo?
  11. I understand your sentiment. And there is a little part of me that wants to say the players deserve better. Look, I'm not trying to defend Riley with my post. I'm just trying to make a general statement. No one deserves anything in sports. Point. Blank. Period. If that is your attitude then why even mess with signing any new coaches? Let's just lose and in the process of losing just accept it by saying 'hey guys we don't deserve anything.' I hate to break it to you but Nebraska and it's fans especially after Bill Callahan, Bo Pelini and now Mike Riley most definitely deserve better. Sorry. I said nothing about accepting losing in any of my posts. I'm actually a terrible loser and I'm just as upset as anyone else on this board with how this season has panned out so far. All I'm saying is that all of those things that define us as a program (ei. fan support, facilities, tradition, etc.) don't make us deserve any more than anyone else does. That's just the nature of sports. That's life. You don't always get what you want (that isn't me saying I'm content with the current standing of this program). Exactly. So if that is what you're going to preach you must also accept that when a popular sports team that has a long history of winning starts losing most fan bases respond in a similar fashion. Of course no one deserves anything. That's kind of obvious isn't it? I am beyond grateful for our past. So many positive and cool things and story lines not to mention the great/historic games. All of the great players and coaches and all of the highs and lows that made us exciting to watch. We've seriously been blessed as college football fans. At the same time it isn't a crime for fans to not just sit back and accept that they are now not even remotely close to the level they once were because they see blatant reasons right in front of their faces that they (the players and the fans) do in fact deserve better. That's what sports fans do. Generally we sometimes complain and maybe even call for change when are favorite teams are losing depending on the circumstances.

  13. Haha. This. It pretty much sums these coaches up to a T. I know this is not it but sometimes I feel like they read the paper and think "Well, this is what the fans want, so here we go, more FB, here is your FB, stop the running game with everyone playing the run, no problem, more walk ons, okay!" Again, I know it is not the case, it just cracked me up. I thought the same thing. Granted the FB Janovich had a good game against Southern Miss (on only 6 carries mind you) and it was cool to see and some fans got a kick out of that. 2 games before that however practically all of the carries went to Terrell Newby. (28 carries against Southern Alabama). Then just a few games later there's the FB leading the team in carries against Illinois!!! It's completely ridiculous when you sit back and look at it. Throw Ozigbo in there and things really get confusing. It's as if there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to Riley and co's run game. Except for Wilbon of course who has been MIA for almost a month now... At least they're consistent there.
