  1. Zac Lee- How is a healthy Zac Lee with a full season's experience behind him going to perform. That will be interesting to see. Cody Green- I will be looking to see how much improvement he shows if any. Offensive line- Yoshi. I'm interested to see how next year's unit fair's. In my mind Barney is on the hot seat. Playcalling- Will Watson still try to run Zac Lee the way he did in 09? Will Watson somehow remember that we actually have fairly good tight ends that can catch the football? Wildcat formation? Defense- I will be watching the safety position and linebacker position's the most. I am not so worried about the defensive line.
  2. That is against HS talent.. thats not saying a lot. Lee could do that in HS too.. college is completly different. With all due respect Zac Lee in his entire life has not ran with the football outside the pocket or all alone on a football field with no one else around for that matter the way Carnes has. There isn't a more stiffer looking runner than Zac Lee. Doesn't look too stiff here at the 0:24 mark...... Fixed. You forgot to bold the last part of my sentence. Also where is this purported Jamal Turner tape you speak of? From what I've seen of Turner on youtube I'm sticking with Carnes. Easily.

  4. I don't see Carnes starting simply due to experience with Lee coming back but I do know that on film Carnes has the best feet of any of the quarterback's currently on our roster. I think he looks great throwing the ball also.
  5. Coach Beck will pull in some nice offensive talent in 2011. Bank on it. He's a savvy recruiter. I don't doubt Beck's savvy but call me cautiously optimistic when it comes to recruiting. I'm not banking on anything. Hopeful yes. Optimistic? Yes. Time will tell? Yes....
  6. The only thing I worry about is having a staff that is really good at knowing defense talent when they see it obviously. I'm not saying they aren't good at evaluating offense talent but I think it's safe to say coach Pelini, Carl and Papuchis for example are defensive guys. I have faith in our staff to get good offensive talent but at the same time it does cross my mind when thinking of our current recruits and potential recruits skill position wise.
  7. Well I hope you are right and I don't mean to put sour grapes on people's excitement of any recruit of ours. I honestly hope he does well. Apparently Turner had one game where he went 21-22 with over 400 yards passing and 6 touchdowns. Scout.com has him throwing for 13 td's with 10 interceptions last season. Personally anytime I see a quarterback with almost as many interceptions as they have touchdowns it just doesn't make me think too highly of them as a passer anyway. I am not sold on Turner or any recruit honestly until they prove it on the field but if he can develop and live up to the hype I will most definitely be ecstatic about that. The botton line is I hope he can be the player he's hyped up to be!
  8. Well said and you got the Carnes prediction right too. I just hope you get the other two right!
  9. When I saw that Jamal Turner threw for 13 touchdowns last season with 10 interceptions I honestly got fairly unexcited about his signing pretty quickly. I would think that his signing had to effect Carnes decision. We just lost a highly touted quarterback recruit to Western Kentucky. I would have rather had Carnes than Turner...
  10. he actually started, played the first two series, sat out 2, and has been back in again. Thanks. I must have missed him or not seen him. Did Nebraska ever try to recruit Sean Weatherspoon? I think he would have made a great Husker.
  11. The South offense looks horrible so far. Nice to see Asante finally in there on D.
  12. Joe Ganz above Eric Crouch huh? Interesting.. He's not in my top 8 or 9 either. Put Crouch under center on any team within the last 3, 4, or even 5 years. No 1,000 yard rushing season, he would actually be forced to pass (shudder) and most definitely there's no Heisman trophy either. He's number one on the all time crybaby list though. A solid number one.
  13. Has Moudy played yet? Anyone know what his number is?
  14. I thought Nate Mason should get a mention in this thread. I loved #8.
  15. I have a lot of memories with Kent Pavelka and a few of Lyle Bremser. If I had it my way I'd be listening to Pavelka and Gary Saddlemeyer instead of Greg Sharp and any of the announcers and co-announcers that followed them.
  16. Ganz holds 23 school records but even more importantly than that who knows what would have happened to our program if Keller had stayed healthy. To me Ganz helped keep NU afloat and a team halfway worth talking about instead of being just another blip on the radar. Without a doubt he is in my top five. Clemson game...
  17. This article does go back in time. Great article about the Top 10 best games of Nebraska's 300 consecutive sellout streak. It also ranks the top 10 Husker running backs of all time, the top 10 Husker football players of all time and also lists the all decade defensive and offensive team. Nebraska's 300 consecutive sellouts Top 10 games.
  18. 1. Tommie Frazier. 2. (a very close second) Turner Gill 3. Joe Ganz 4. Scott Frost 5. Steve Taylor Third, fourth and fifth are very close. Honorable mention: Gerry Gdowski, Jeff Quinn, Zac Taylor Side note: I would have loved to seen what Bobby Newcombe could have done had he stayed at quarterback and also would liked to have seen what Mickey Joseph might have done behind a better o-line.
  19. I thought Adrian Fiala did a great job and I think it kinda of stinks. I'm probably the only one who's not a huge fan of Matt Davison as far as football announcing goes. Oh well.
  20. Wow. I would have to say the 1984 Orange Bowl would be my pick too with the heartbreaking and sickening (out of bounds play/non touchdown catch) 82 Penn State game being second for me also. I wouldn't pick the 2001 Rose Bowl because we really had no business being in that game to begin with. The 94 loss to FSU stung too. That would probably be third on my list. I know for sure there are some Oklahoma losses in the 80's that I wish we would have won and were pretty heartbreaking losses too.
  21. Did Brian Griese get into a car accident or something? It looks like his face is a little scratched up!
  22. Owa's coach very impressed with the Husker coaches after their meeting Thursday. “Actually,” said Dan Wood, Odighizuwa's coach at David Douglas High School, “Owa said it went really, really well.” Wood met at the high school with NU coaches before they visited Odighizuwa's house in the evening. The coach was also impressed with Nebraska's presentation, a factor that could loom large as Odighizuwa picks a school. “They were extremely well prepared,” Wood said. “They were very honest and straightforward, no-nonsense. I appreciate that, and I know Owa appreciates that approach. We had enough time that we were able to visit about different things, not just Owa's situation. “I enjoyed our time and thought they were very informative. They were extremely personable. It just all went down really, really well.” http://www.omaha.com/article/20100122/BIGRED/701229821
  23. Definitely wasn't impressed with Sean Fisher this year. I remember more than a few times watching him get faked out of his shoes when it was just him and the ballcarrier basically all alone in the open field. He was in position to make the play and ended up tackling air. Excites me the least out of all of our linebackers.
