      That said if people stopped watching for a few months right after this, they might get the point. Problem is then people would have to put effort into getting sports news. We don't like effort as a species. So the cycle will continue.

      This is what happens when the only consequence people care about is money. People respond to stuff they like and don't like. The ex athletes and blowhards get people talking and tuning in. Not enough people care about the good reporting. People will be up in arms about the layoffs but still tune in. Only way to change behavior is consequences.
