  1. 9/23 Frost's resume is quite impressive regardless of Nebraska ties - Played under Bill Walsh, Tom Osborne, Bill Parcells, Bill Bellicheck and Jon Gruden. - Played quarterback in college // played safety in the NFL, was successful at both. - Linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at UNI (defense was ranked 13th in the country when he was DC) - Wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator at Oregon, where his teams played for MNC's and his quarterback won the Heisman - Huge turnaround in year one as a head coach, with a big time P5 win in year 2 (last year his defense improved roughly 70 spots in total defense nationally, 98 spot improvement in turnovers) - Won a national championship as a player, and a coach, and has coached in plenty of big time environments 9/24 Frost has been a successful coach every year as OC, DC, and HC: 1st year as HC took a 0-12 team to 6-7, the biggest win turnaround in the country (+6). Riley was -3. 2-0 so far this year. OC at Oregon (year, total Offense, scoring O, rush O, pass O) 2015 5, 5, 5, 36 2014 3, 4, 20, 10 2013 2, 4, 9, 21 One year as DC at Northern Iowa (2008) - total D 23rd, scoring D 9th. With his obvious ties/history at Nebraska, he knows the culture, history and attitude of Nebraska, and would likely stay for a long time. I would love to see him go with the Nebraska physical, tough, smashmouth attitude vs the Oregon fast attack. I think that approach also helps defenses. Today in UCF win over Maryland, Rushing 39-250 yds, Passing 30-178yds.
  2. I think he would, NU fans are not the only people high on Frost. Doesn't necessarily mean we should hire him either, but there's a lot to like imo. https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/08/24/coaching-carousel-preview-best-candidates-assistants-hires
  3. 9/22 https://ucf.rivals.com/news/scott-frost-press-conference-maryland-week Watch this press conference prior to the Maryland game. Even at Oregon he spoke like this, not just like a coach, but like a head coach. Great demeanor, understands the media's role. Honest, humble, and forthright. These are things that are common to other press conferences he's had over the years, but this one is of course different because of Irma's tremendous impact on that program. Notice his priorities in life, even in the already stressful life of a college coach. If you want a guy that represents Nebraska and all of those intangibles we like to say collegiate athletics are about...
  4. I'm breaking my own rule because the SF megathread has gotten out of control. We had members ask us to not moderatebe heavily, so we didn't and now it's just a place for memes, arguing, and discussion of the 1982 Penn State Game. This is a locked thread that I (and any other mods who want) can go through and update with posts that are actually relevant to the topic. The idea is that people can get most of the information re: rumors tweets and everything else without having to read 8 pages to find one new piece of information. I'm pinning it because I think it's a content area many people on the board are interested in. The megathread I'll leave to continue to evolve organically. I know many people look at the SF conversation as a playground because nothing definitive will happen until after black Friday. I appreciate that viewpoint, but there are also people who might want to come to the board for genuine conversation and information consolidated into one place. This thread is for those people. I can't promise to keep it updated but i'll try. I'm going to apologize in advance because it seems I can't copy posts from the other thread, just move them. I'd prefer not to move the other posts as it would make things confusing. As such, I'm just copy and pasting. I'm also including posts that I think add something to painting a picture about what's going on. This is by its nature arbitrary. I apologize if I missed something you feel like is important.
  5. To build on this, these are people who probably would not be happy if the information is leaked. Lets say you had your opportunity at a dream hire/dream coach, but the barrier to get it done was that you had to not talk about it for a month. Would you be able to do it? I imagine when there is legacy and millions of dollars on the line, folks are able to shut up about it. These aren't obsessed fanboys dropping memes in threads. They don't feel obligated to keep the fans informed. They are people who worked extremely hard to reach where they are in their careers and they're not going to jeopardize that because they're excited.
  6. At this point the SF thread is more or less a fly trap.

      But it does its job.

If by fly trap you mean fully engulfed dumpster fire....yeah.

  7. Folks, This is your like every 4 day reminder to be civil to one another. Attack the message, not the messenger. If you want someone to stop doing something, the best way to do so is to ignore it. So instead of reacting to off topic posts, don't attend to them. Additionally, please try to keep the conversation focused on Frost as much as possible. We've given quite a bit of leeway, but it's drifting hard again.
  8. I mean yes and no. It depends on how much some of the things being said are accurate. Have you ever had a micromanaging boss who told you to do things a specific way instead of the way you know works? It sucks and the vast majority of people won't do as good a job. Now if the tackling stuff wasn't true, and the bobby d hire stuff isn't true...there's a whole different story. That is to say, we do not know the constraints of the job HCMR had. Even I might be able to beat Usain Bolt in a race if he's in a sack race and I have a bicycle...powered by jets...on a good day.
  9. I think regardless of how grounded in reality it might be, this is true. Fans are going to be a lot more patient with a coach taking over a 4 win program than one taking over a 9-win program. We're not big on the full context in these parts, but we understand wins and losses.
  10. Personally, I think it's a hiring benefit to be able to say look I stick to my word. That means if Moos makes a commitment to give our next coach x amount of time, they know they'll have it. If you go back on your word in a public place, it doesn't instill hope in our next coach. It seems like the AD department has more damage control to do than anything. This is a good first step.
  11. No one is saying you don't make sense. What they're saying is you need to work on how you communicate. As a mod, I'm inclined to agree that you have at times toed a line. You state many opinions as fact and you word it very strongly. That type of speaking gets strong responses. I'm encourage you to be mindful of it.
  12. Especially as it relates to usernames not associated with huskerboard.
  13. I figured it out. Jessica0 = Loki.

No i think this is a good point.  Is she hear for good or evil.

  14. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out why that tweet had any meaning what so ever. The only thing I can take away from it is that the future coach is a CFB coach who is on a bowl eligible team (maybe?). So I guess Mike Riley not to Florida confirmed?
  15. Is that to hypothetically say that we offered less initially and this is a second offer to beat the gators offer?
  16. My guess is that SF is doing what most people do on the job market. You look for as many options as possible, you set yourself up that in case one job falls through you land on your foot. Same thing I did last year where I didn't turn down one job offer until I had another in hand. You negotiate, you get as close as possible, you have it ready to sign on the doted line. If the other place gets cold feet or the written offer doesn't look right, you land on your feet.
  17. See the problem is that we don't want to do the work. We want everyone to have some semblance of control. I got a PM yesterday saying let the kids have their fun. The problem is if we let little things slide it ends up turning into this nonsense. Folks need to learn when enough is enough so the mods don't have to get heavy handed. Believe me, none of us want to go around hiding multiple pages of posts. Everyone needs to learn when it's gone to far. A big part of this is not responding to off topic posts. @Warrior10's post right above this is a great example (sorry to throw you under the bus). While the intention is great and I'm 100% behind it, the function is that the conversation continues (there's now an opening for another off topic response about if making jokes is ok or when it's ok etc). So even though the end thought is lets get back on topic we continue off topic. It is fine to take things to PMs. In fact it's encouraged. Being the fun police sucks, but there's only so much bs that people are going to wade through to read about SF. After that, we start getting tons of SF threads which the people that make the topic go off topic complain about which takes yet another thread off topic. Have your fun, make a comment or two but let it go.
  18. Did you know that science is a lot more complex than that? I'd be happy to recap all the genetic, genitals, psychological, hormonal, and social factors that play into it. I just lectured on it today.
  19. Folks, you've been asked by one mod, now you're being asked by a second who is tired and cranky. This is about Scott Frost. Keep it about Scott Frost.
  20. Is anyone going to have a tailgate I can crash for the Iowa game?

HA!  That has to be a T-shirt!

      That is freaking awesome.

  21. If Riley stays and Cav and DL are still here, I would be officially convinced that we're no longer trying to win. Play calling and OL play have done horrible things to our team this year. If it's clear to me, that's a problem. I also have serious questions about Bobby, but we also could use a true NT.
  22. I would say take a look at the changes in Minnesota after Fleck was hired. Very similar careers. Have to take into account their past recruiting, but should be a similar change I imagine.
