  1. My thing with Fant is this. It seems that he initially liked what Iowa was selling over Nebraska but its clear to me that he likes the Nebraska program and coaches more. If he isn't the silent commit, I still believe he will be a Husker. I think Nebraska will have plenty of time to make up for their woes in the beginning. As far as the recent TE offer. This staff has said that they will go after more than two TE's if needed. The TE room is made up of mostly upperclassman and getting three would be nice especially since there will be attrition. Remember Fant is going to be more of a Hybrid and will flex out.
  2. So a poor mans version of Christian McCaffery? He is more electric than McCaffery
  3. Noah Fant is the silent commit. Think about it.

Sure hope he flips. Be a great pick up.

I hope it's either him or Farniok

Farniok came to mind as well. That would be huge

  4. How about this? I am going to put my chips in and say that Noah Fant is the silent commit. If you think about it, it makes the most sense. He had left the door open for Nebraska to creep back in and you know he was having second thoughts. He might be waiting for the Nebraska/ Iowa game to make some sort of announcement and I think it will be huge if he is there and is sporting Nebraska gear on our sideline.
  5. I am disappointed to see that Gerry's hips aren't fixed yet. I would say the most important physical attribute in football is hip fluidity and in some positions it is more glaring than others. Daimion Stafford, Corey Cooper (Some of the worst hips I have ever seen), (on the offensive side of the ball) Niles Paul. All three had all-american attributes, except for one thing, fluid hips. If you have bad change of direction, you will be limited significantly. This is limiting Gerry as well. If you watch him run you will see that his upper body is erect and it appears that his legs are moving only from the knee down. This limits not only his change of direction (his biggest issue) but also his impact when he delivers a hit. He has terrible flexibility that doesn't allow him to explode into the ballcarrier. What saves him in his tackling is his stature. The dude is built but seems tightly wound. His speed is diminished because of this. I heard that he was the fastest guy to ever come out of South Dakota but its not translating well into the football field. It is unfortunate because other than that issue (a big one) he is the perfect safety prospect. One last thing, if you watch him in run support, sometimes when he goes in for the tackle and puts his head down, you will see that instead of his hips dropping, his legs widen out which hinders his foundation and strength into his tackle. Its a flaw yet also a testament to his natural strength because that more times than not should get you trucked.
  6. He would be the "Do it all" player here and I don't see him RS. He will be the compliment in Riley's offense that will put defenses on their toes. Look for him on sweeps and in the slot. Also don't be surprised to see him get 5-10 carries a game. He's an obvious PR/KR but I think you leave the PR to Demornay if he comes back fully healthy. I do think he will be the answer to Nebraska's screen game woes as long as the accuracy and blocking is there.
  7. I think the important thing to notice when you evaluate Tre's attributes and tape is that there doesn't appear to be any glaring weakness in his stature or game. Physically he is ready and fundamentally he doesn't have any flaw that would insist he couldn't contribute right away. There is no doubt he is in the upper echelon of RB recruits but its nice to see that his contributions appear immediate. I think Tre is an example to what the staff is looking for. Yes they want guys to come in and have the ability to contribute right away but they also want to limit substitutions/ packages that would make them predictable. If you recruit players that aren't limited to particular packages then you have so much more to work with schematically. This is also being witnessed defensively as well especially with LB's.
  8. This guy is good. He looks like he could add ten lbs and move inside and be an incredibly disruptive DT. If he were to remain on the edge, he would have to stay at that same weight.
  9. That's a pretty lofty call with Newby, Wilbon, Ozigbo, Stevenson returning. I just think it will be hard to deny him playing time
  10. If you watch him run, he looks a lot like Melvin Gordon just in the way he actually moves and its not because of the number he wears. Ill call it right now, he will not redshirt if he signs.
  11. They plan on using him the same way they used James Rodgers.
  12. I am a UC student and technically UC Berkeley does not have a medical school. They have an agreement with UC San Francisco that essentially allows Berkeley graduates to attend UCSF medical school but it is not just limited to just Berkeley students. The closest medical after SF is UC Davis and Stanford. Any UC campus would be a great place to get your pre med courses taken care of. UC medical schools (SF,LA,Davis,Irvine,SD,Merced(soon)) accept any UC student with the needed marks and test scores no matter if they did premed at their campus or another UC. I go to UC Santa Cruz. Our claim to fame is the scene in "Pulp Fiction" where Travolta is wearing our heather grey "Banana Slug" t-shirt.
  13. After reading some prior posts, I'm wondering if I'm watching the same tape. This kid is really good and has the physical tools to blossom at Nebraska. I will not be surprised if his recruitments begins to blow up and texas schools along with the sec start to offer. I don't see any wasted movement and there was one spectacular play where he cuts back and jukes a bunch of guys. I don't understand the logic in downplaying it. Sure it won't be as easy in college but if he can do it in HS, well hell let him do it. He's a big kid with great speed and has the frame to become a physical specimen. This is a great commit for us and my only worry is that he could be swayed to another team because he will get other big offers. Don't downplay the kid because he wasn't the first running back on YOUR board. He will get a rating bump.
  14. That sentiment is beginning to die here in CA. There's a buzz about the Raiders and they are drafting players as good as anybody right now.
  15. I haven't posted in a while and I suppose now is the time. I just got back from visiting my new school (UC Santa Cruz) in northern CA and while I was up there I happened to meet a scout for the Oakland Raiders. His son is also transferring to UC Santa Cruz and since I am a Raider fan, we began talking. I informed him that I am a Nebraska fan and he told me that many of our players are on the Raider's radar and most of the league's radar for that matter. The first player he mentioned was DeMornay. He told me that if he continues to progress with Mike Riley, he will be a first round pick. The scout attended the Holiday Bowl and said he was the best skill player on the field. He also mentioned Collins, Valentine, and Gerry. The last guy he talked about who is making a lot of headway is Daniel Davie. The Raiders love his size, speed, and tape. If he has a good year, he could explode into the first round according to him. Take it for what it's worth.
  16. I remember seeing somewhere that Greg felt that he should've gone to Ohio St. after his redshirt year at Nebraska. At the time it wasn't so much that he wanted to be a Buckeye but that he was homesick and didn't like Lincoln.
  17. Will somebody else explain to me the Adam Taylor love? Look, I'd like to see all of our guys contribute immensely, and I feel we can do some good things with multiple backs but Terrell Newby has proven that he can at least play and stay healthy. Adam Taylor hasn't played a down of live college football. Not a single down. Imani will start with Newby coming off first. Terrell is the one who is not like the others, which will help him. Adam has a lot of ground to make when it comes to experience and trust. He doesn't get skinny very well and his cuts are slow. He runs straight up through the hole sometimes and gets stopped rather easily. Many believed he was hesitant because of his prior injury. He had moments right before he got injured. The best raw talent is Mikale. He doesn't have a glaring weakness and is the one who could jump them all. How do you discredit people from being optimistic about Taylor without him playing a single down, and then you give some authoritative assessment on how good of a runningback he is.....when he hasn't played a single down. you're right man, thats my bad.

That's "Sir Swish" to you, guy.

  20. This is a prime example on why kids need to be properly coached in the recruiting process. This guy has no idea on what he did to himself as far as odds go. He essentially allowed Alabama to replace him when they find someone better. I'm not even saying he should come here but my god, don't screw yourself from opportunity.
  21. can a mod DM me for woodshed access please?

  22. Id' imagine that if your application status to UNL reads: "contact office of admissions" means I was denied?

That was one of the issues. Since I'm in CA, specific courses are different, either in the way they are counted or in their description. I applied to the UC system (UCLA, UC-Irvine, UC Berkeley, Etc) which I qualified for. I explained that and was told to apply. I've taken roughly 12-15 units towards my major already.

Well, you never really know with bureaucracies, but if you have a decent GPA and there is room in the major I would think you should get admitted.

I called them and they said they would refer me to an admissions officer. I guess he or she was busy so I left a message. Is this how UNL tells you no? haha

  23. I hope he ends up being a husker. He has elite speed and is low to the ground. If I had to project him in the future, he could very well end up being a Tyreek Hill type player. Minus off the the field issues. You can never undersell his desire to be here. With his speed, you can find a place for him.
  24. Some might disagree but I think Michigan's uphill climb is pretty steep. He has to win right away and I don't think there are guys on that team who can do so. Michigan might have accumulated the all bust team from the 2011-2014 recruiting classes. Snyder needs to be smart and come to Lincoln. Anything Harbaugh is selling him is being said with the thought of him getting someone better (star wise) in next years class.
