  1. What... the..... F&(#....... Funny, that would be a huge jump for a football program to make D3 to D1. They did finish the year ranked #12 in D3.
  2. From what I understand, the big 10 doesn't offer unless it is a done deal. I don't know why any school would go through all the work just to say no.
  3. I think they used the secondary ticket market to justify the price increases. I know my uncle usually isn't too happy when they increase ticket prices but they have had season tickets since the 60s so I imagine they will continue. It is sad when they price some of their alumni out of tickets and it isn't like the student tickets are really cheap either. Oh well, I only go when I get free tickets anyways so I can't complain too much.
  4. If Maryland can pull this off with little to no exit fee, the ACC is screwed.
  5. Committed yourself to, but had never seen her in person while having a one-year dating "relationship." That makes perfect sense. That is a very liberal usage of the the word "committed".
  6. Just a quick statement about OSU, there is a very good chance they drop at least one game next year. I highly doubt they go 24-0 over a two year span during regular season. However, if Miller does get hurt, Kenny G is a very capable backup and can win the majority of the games in the B1G. He has come into games when Miller went to the bench/hospital and filled in very well. He isn't as dynamic as Miller but the offense can still move the ball with him behind center (at least that was the case last year). The backfield isn't the problem on the offensive side at OSU, it is the receiving talent. That is one area that I see Nebraska having an advantage over OSU. The other areas are up in the air if you ask me. Nebraska and OSU, I think, have the fewest question marks coming into the season in the B1G. Hopefully that is the game we see in the championship game.
  7. Arkansas and Bielema are perfect for each other.
  8. Sadly, I do agree with this. The sad part is, next year our schedule will be even weaker...no Nebraska or Michigan State on it. bull$hit. OSU would be riding a 24 game winning streak if that were the case. I hope that happens but I highly doubt it will. Too many to replace on the defensive side of the ball and they still need to find the right group of WR. A team like Purdue (check the recent history) could kill the season.
  9. This is a Nebraska message board. Go to Bucknuts or BuckeyePlanet and see how they talk about the Buckeyes. You don't need this pointed out to you, right? We're not going to have a completely objective conversation about the Huskers here. This isn't an OSU message board? Crap, I have been spending my time at the wrong place (bucknuts and their affiliated sites makes me want to puke). BTW, I would have loved to see Nebraska beat Michigan in '97 but I guess we will never know for sure. As per the title of this thread....It is hard to argue that Nebraska isn't deserving of the '97 title.
  10. Look that the BCS era, there have been 2 games with teams +10 in spread leading up to the game. Both teams won. Sometimes that 20% happens. And as a non-Husker fan, your opinion is understandable as well. But we've got some pretty good foundations on which to back our assertions. And the bottom line is, Michigan could have played for the real trophy. All the Big Ten had to do was join the Bowl Alliance like the rest of the country and we'd have settled it on the field. It was their choice not to, and that's the only reason they get to claim a portion of the 1997 title. It should have been settled on the field, and you can blame Michigan/the Big Ten for that. I understand your point, but once the BIG10/PAC10 joined up, thus creating the BCS, we got the mess we have now. Is it better than we had before? Sure. Is it really settling it on the field? Not really. Until a true playoff system is in place, you will never have a true championship. This is beside the point....I just find it funny when people are over the top about their team. Almost every fan base is this way so I am not singling out Husker fans. As for the polls, I take those with a grain of salt. Coaches and media have their own bias and they don't always vote for teams that are deserving. Whether it's a mess today or not is irrelevant to the fact that Michigan and the Big Ten screwed themselves out of a chance to play for the undisputed national championship in 1997. Under the rules of the Bowl Alliance the top two teams in 1997, Michigan and Nebraska, would have met and settled it on the field. The Big Ten ducked out of the Bowl Alliance and that's that. That is not being "over the top" about Nebraska, it's a fact. Your sidebar about over-the-top fans is pretty funny coming from an Ohio State fan. When celebrations get out of control on Chittenden to the point where riot police have to be called in.... that's not giving you any kind of moral authority to call out other fans. Yep, the big 10 has historically made the worst decisions and they try and duck out of all the big games . Must by why Nebraska joined up with them. Did you miss what I said? "almost every fan base is that way"? That statement would include schools like OSU. Also, my morals are not the same as those the riot police were called in for. Since you brought it up, how many of those arrested were OSU students? Of those that were OSU students, how many were kicked out of school? I am glad you let the action of a few (less that a faction of a percent) skew your opinion of everyone. I just don't understand how and why everyone thinks it would have been an easy win for Nebraska. That is all I am saying. You guys gave your answers and there is no real way of proving anyone's point. I am also sure the '97 Michigan team, just like Nebraska, wouldn't have been afraid to play that game.

  12. Michigan's strength was their pass defense, which was one of the best of all time. They were not nearlt as strong against the run. All the matchups favored NU in a head to head matchup. I remember another big 10 school that didn't stand a chance against the hurricanes about 10 years ago. How did that game work out? Point being, without playing it out on the field, you will never know. Saying that, I sure hope that Nebraska would have won that game against Michigan. I understand that on a husker board one would hold the opinions as most do here.
  13. As bullish most on here are about the huskers, I find it hard to take most peoples memory on here about the 97 team. From memory, I find it hard to say that either team would have easily won the game. To me, it would have been a good match up. As for the article, that is a horrible reason to give it to Michigan.
  14. If this is all college coaches, then Larry Kehres has to be on the list. 332-24-3 11 national championships (won on the field via a playoff) I don't care what level you are coaching, that is nuts.
  15. Not a top ten team? They went toe to toe with Duke IN Cameron and couldn't hit a shot vs Kansas in the second half. Two very good team early in the season. I think they are still trying to figure themselves out but at this point they can play with almost anyone in the country because they play great defense. Saying that....that really isn't the reason why I came to this thread... I think Jimmy Jackson had it right during the post game. Nebraska really needs to land a couple top 50 basketball players that are dynamic. It only takes a couple guys to change your program in basketball. Hopefully for Nebraska they can use their new facility to land a couple guys like that.
  16. Have you guys ever played football in late October/November? It really isn't that big of a deal. The average temperature in Columbus during the month of November is 54 for the high and 32 for the low. For Lincoln the range is 51/28. That really isn't crippling football weather by any means. The fact of the matter is, the top SEC schools have better coaching and are deeper than most B1G teams. Depth and coaching will separate the good teams from the great teams.
  17. Are GA fans really talking trash? Really? The school that every year finds a way to crap the bed? Go team SEC!
  18. Matt Campbell (if his career keeps on its current path, and yes, i'm a homer) and hope they catch lightning in a bottle.
  19. Burn.....like it was 2011. Too bad it only took you a month to come up with that.
  20. Seeing how the UFL played 4 games in 2012 and the average league salary was $3,500 per game, I made more in college than I would in the UFL. However, that isn't saying much. But you just want to poke fun at tOSU....so go right ahead.....BEAT OHIO!!!
  21. If he had a problem with the way Urban did things when he go to OSU, I can only imagine how much crying he will do in the SEC.
  22. At this point Nebraska has to look at the coaching staff and change something. You don't get blown out twice in one season like that in a bad conference and not have something wrong. I understand you might lay an egg every now and then, it happens. However, you shouldn't lay an egg in the two biggest games of the year.
  23. Hey Nebraska, you are in the Big10 now...you aren't supposed to lay an egg till the bowl season.
  24. Your an old fashioned liar trying to exploit the suicide of a mentally ill girl who was never raped. Being an informed fan, you knew what you were saying and that it wasn't true. To Huskers: this is why the Buckeyes are hands down the worst fanbase in America. Competitors like whoever threw piss at you out in the boondocks weren't really thinking hard, and thugU doesn't qualifiy because their 'fanbase' doesn't exist 95% of the time. But the sad part about Ohio is that he isn't too abnormal, and this kind of poo flinging has and always will be there. Some of you keep Notre Dame #1 on your hate list, that's fine with us, we actually want it that way in the long run. But for many reasons, you'll soon find promote Ohio State to what they are, a big steaming #2. I am sorry but you need to look at this objectively. ND fans talk crap all the time. They are no different than OSU and Michigan fans. Everyone needs to get off their pedestals.
