  1. Thanks for the info. It leads to a lot of questions. How will this work with Title IX? How long before women athletes want to be paid the same as the male athletes - especially in the same sport? Also, and like others have said, how long before other programs are cut? The poaching of players by top tier programs will also be interesting. Hopefully, we get our new facilities built and paid for before this goes into effect as I don't see major projects on this scale being done with the frequency we are seeing now.
  2. Completely agree on Chins. I do still wish he would blitz or design pressure more often. His defense still has some room left for improvement on 3rd down as well. But overall he has improved the defense. I've been wondering if Frost may have curtailed his fast pace on offense (and slowed down time between snaps a bit) because Frost realized the defense was the strength this year and decided to shift philosophy a bit. I'd be real interested to see Frost's response to that question posed by a member of the media.
  3. Sounding like another battle with UCLA between Frost and Kelly. Pleasantly surprised it appears we are in the top 2.
  4. I believe Mauga was a 3 for 2. So I think he would still have 3 for 2, right? Or would this year count as his rs year and have 2 years left?
  5. Dear god I hope we go after the OU guys in Pledger and Rambo. Both are legit playmakers and would be immediate starters at positions of need.
  6. Another game would be a good opportunity to play a lot of back-ups and young guys to get a look for next year - somewhat similar to the Jaimes and Corcoran situation.
  7. I get the feeling he is a back up plan to Savea. Not sure if we maybe take and try to beef up to a NT.
  8. Yes. Hopefully with the attrition, guys that are younger will also take advantage of the extra year (such as Rogers, Reimers, Daniels, Ty Rob, Allen, and etc.) and we won't face the scholarship issue most might. I'd put Wan'Dale and Cam Taylor-Britt but I suspect they will go pro after 4 years.
  9. Any indication why? Is he a possible grade or qualifying issue?
  10. I didn’t say he wouldn’t make changes, only that he won’t feel pressure from Moos to do so. Moos has said as much as well.
  11. I don’t think Frost will make any changes. I really think he believes things are going to work themselves out with staff continuity, much like we had under Devaney and Osborne.
  12. Frost won’t feel any pressure to make changes this offseason. If we see a disaster of a season next year is when pressure might begin - but even then is questionable. I really think Frost has another 2 years before he is on the hot seat.
  13. My how far we have fallen. On the road and at 3:00pm on Friday.
  14. I actually think Nelson needs to get a bit faster off the edge if he intends to stay at OLB.
  15. Special teams have improved but still A LONG WAY TO GO. Coverage on kickoffs and punts are still bad and almost atrocious (but improved from last year). Blocking on returns still need a lot of work as well.
  16. @Wistrom Disciple Dismuke has been a tackling machine this year. While I think Farmer and Pola-Gates will be studs, it will be interesting to see if both can hold up over a full season. That's why I think having Dismuke or Williams back and have a rotation to include Dismuke/Williams (whichever one decides to come back), Famer, and Pola-Gates would be ideal. Stille is still our best D linemen and would be again next year. Robinson may take him over and Rogers is steady force... but it would sure be nice to have Stille around for 1 more year.
  17. @Fru I don't think the 1st post was a shot at Frost's integrity, but merely pointing out the obvious in ways Frost could avoid comments in press conferences that a more seasoned coach would avoid. I think Frost may be on to something (and i'm not saying he is wrong) I just don't know if continuing to put that stuff out there is the best strategy for a young team.
  18. @MyBloodIsRed16 Domann coming back would be huge for next years defense. Also, I'd like to see either Williams or Dismuke come back as well, along with Stille on the Dline. On offense... I agree, Jaimes is gone. While Farniok has struggled some, his presence on the oline would be nice for next year and agree that Farniok and Stoll are really the only players I'd like to see back on the offensive side.
  19. I haven't heard/read much about Sotelo but based on his offers (mainly Pac 12) could be a hidden gem. It seems Tuioti has opened some doors in Hawaii.
  20. @Mavric Good to hear! Saw your post and was anticipating the worst.
  21. What is dumbfounding to me is that we always hear in the preseason about how depth has improved and we will see some rotation (amount differs every year). While we saw some rotation early this year at the LG spot, such a statement has proven to be false once again. Rather than try to rotate a few new guys in to give them a chance (Bando or Nouili) it seems the 5 that start are even more entrenched. This isn't a comment on just Austin, but something that has carried over from the past couple regimes.
  22. I think its a combination of the 3. We lack talent (and experience) at the WR spot to push it down the field. Another important factor I've noticed is that in Amart's first year it seemed as though there were more designed deep throws with minimal reads (reading one player versus progression). I think we are seeing too many plays called now which require Amart to read coverage (more of a progression tree style offense) - so I think some of the issues we are seeing with Amart last year and this year are play design/scheme.
  23. If Austin gets a raise or extension this year we will know Frost lacks the ability to evaluate the staff with a clear head. Not saying Austin needs to be fired but he needs to prove himself.
