  1. That one was maddening. He had a lot of open field in front of him and a lot of time. I hope these are the teaching moments that Riley is talking about. I never got the vibe he was instructed not to run. There were a (very) few designed runs and even Tommy's patented hurdle-the-tackler. I hope he gets more comfortable with the touch throws, particularly the screens. I really like how Langsdorf used them, but we have to connect. For a quarter or two, Tommy looked really good. I was impressed. That's what bothered me. He could have run 10 yards, easily. He doesn't seem to want to run unless it's a designed run. Either that or he's not comfortable making the decision to run. He ran so well last year when he bothered to do it. I wish he would run 10 more times per game. If the other team had to worry about it, then the throws would become easier.
  2. What in the heck do you have to base this on? We lost our 1st game. Haven't you heard? There's no reason to have a full season. I told my special lady friend how the game ended and she said "welp, there's always next season". Your mom?

  4. Probably a silly question but what is our record of getting a QB to recommit after decommitting? If you count Solich talking Crouch into not quitting, I would say 1 for 1 Uh, I don't have that great of a memory but didn't both Gabberts and Freeman decommit from us? So that would be 1/4 off the top of my head. And I believe Osborne really wanted McNabb but I dunno if he committed. Anyway, it doesn't matter how often it has happened. The sample size is tiny.
  5. For some reason I doubt he used a racial slur. But even if he did... now they've made him into this poor unsuspecting victim when they could have gotten him fired instead.
  6. Why isn't there some sort of post minimum or membership minimum before being allowed to create threads? I like this. There's a minimum to give rep. Make a minumum of 15 posts to make a new topic. 15 is a small amount but it would get rid of a lot of these topics.
  7. The individual play was great, but man our blocking was terrible. (Except for Armstrong's)
  8. And he lost many games he should have won, some by nearly 70 points, so do you have a point you want to make because you haven't made one yet. Riley lost one game against a quality opponent because there was 1 second left on the clock, I remember 408 doing the same, so I guess that makes them even.......right.......................................... I think you're misinterpreting huKSer's post. I believe he's saying people are overreacting to the loss.
  9. "in forever?"...better than the game in which the apparent "Golden Heisman Child" Colt McCoy was pounded down by almost every Husker on the field and Suh did everything but wipe his...uhm...nose...with him? I'm not saying Pelini didn't mail his effort in last year, but you have to realize that was at the time he had pretty much checked out of Nebraska. Look back at some other Pelini seasons before saying "forever". 2009 was 6 years ago. Ya, that's basically forever as far as college football coaches go.
  10. I'm the same way. Although I never feel like we're out of the running until we have 2 losses. On the day of that loss I'm not feeling that, though . Ask me again after we win the next 7 games...
  11. That has pretty much nothing to do with it. Most fans were supportive of him even after the Ohio State tape, including myself. This is a true statement. You didn't really sour on him until last season. The last blowout was the last straw for me. The other stuff I was "ok" with if he actually improved, but he didn't.

  13. Exactly. Riley's had 6 weeks coaching them. That's pretty much exactly the same as Pelini's 90 weeks with the 4th year seniors.
  14. How does paying a special teams coach make Drew Brown a better kicker in an off season? I keep seeing this on this board, I don't get it. I don't know. . . maybe coaching him to be able to be a better kicker. Oh. Coach the kicker to be a better kicker. Well, I will see if I can pass that along to him. Hey, maybe we can coach all the positions to be better? Now we are on to something. I'm sure nobody has thought if this yet. Wait til' we see the look on their faces when I inform them. "hey coach!, all you gotta do is coach him to be better at doing what he does!". Man, this should be eye opening. Does he get paid to something else? Am I missing something here? What you're missing is you have to have the tools in place and sometimes no amount of coaching is going to fix that. In the return game, you can set up good blocks. That's something a special teams coach can work on. But you can't make the returner dynamic. That's why it's hard to replace a guy like DPE. In the field goal kicking game, you can help make sure the linemen hold their ground so they're not pushed back and the ball gets kicked into their heads. But the kicker needs to be accurate. Imo the hardest thing to coach for a field goal team is the field goal kicker being accurate. A big part of that position involves the psychological make up of the player. This brings up the question, on the 1st field goal was Foltz the holder?
  15. Is that really necessary? Yes, because there are loads of people posting right now who are acting like whiny bitches.
  16. As much as I hate anecdotal evidence, is it really that hard for you to think of a highly successful coach who was similar?
  17. You know nothing about Eichorst other than stuff you made up in your head. Osborne wanted Pederson. And how did Bo lose his swagger? He got the same 9 wins both seasons with Eichorst. I feel for you. Eichorst left Miami to avoid his name being attached booster scandals. Do some research. The guy was dirty coming into our UNI. You're telling me Bo was the same guy from TOs last ad year to eichorst? Eichorst was in Miami 18 months. The news of the scandal broke 4 months after he was hired and it was an ongoing issue that started 8 years previously. Yet somehow Eichorst is to blame? Eichorst is the shady, dirty guy? WTF are you on? And why should I give a crap whether Bo was the same guy if he got the same results? He wasn't paid so he could be himself or "have swagger." He was paid to win. He had blow out losses before he stopped being the "same guy" (whatever that means) and after he stopped being the "same guy."
  18. His accuracy looked improved, but his decision making still leaves something to be desired. In one of those intentional groundings he had 10 yards of green in front of him to run. Instead of running for a first down he kept looking at 2 of our receivers with 5 defenders near them.

  20. You're not in the minority. Losing always brings the freaks to the board for a couple days.
  21. We lost a game to chance. What if the receiver had dropped it or what if he ran just outside the goaline? Anyway the BYU receiver made a play and you can't define MR on one game. I still think this is a 9 or 10 win team. Why not define MR by his body of work? Seems logical. It seemed like a 9 or 10 win team until we dropped a sure win today, and then the other NU beat Stanford. We will be lucky to win 7 now, unless this coaching staff figures out how to play defense. DON'T BE INSANE!
  22. Why do people assume punters can kick field goals? Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. But usually it's 2 different players who do the 2 things. Most punters probably can't kick a field goal any better than a defensive lineman.
