I agree, JJ. For as much as the GOP suffered from having too many indistinguishable candidates, thus making it easier for Trump to stand out, the Democrats have suffered from not having enough viable candidates, thus making Hillary the only option.
It's a rough year for elections. Fortunately it'll be moderated and over in the next 4 years.

You're right. All of this posturing would've been avoided had the GOP chosen to nominate anyone else but Donald Trump (or Ted Cruz), and I'm willing to bet out and out criticisms/encouragement to support other candidates wouldn't have been as damaging to their own election chances had they taken a stronger stand earlier in the election cycle.
I really feel that it's a case of social loafing on the part of the GOP.

Because they'll lose their own elections if they don't.
As much as it'd be great if each election was isolated, that's simply not the case. And for these Republicans, perhaps the strategy is to criticize Trump, but in a way that allows them to win their elections and still exert some semblance of influence in the direction of our country.
