  1. Online registration for the 450 spots in the 2009 Husker Youth Experience filled up in 55 minutes and I was one of the lucky ones. I'll be at Memorial Stadium on a Saturday morning watching spring practice and oh yeah, my 9 year old will get to go through some drills with the players and coaches too.
  2. Basically I'm looking forward to all the kids who redshirted last year. Other than a couple, we really haven't heard much from the reshirts since they signed their LOI. They've grown both physically and mentally last year, now it's time to let it all hang out. Deep talented rosters with players fighting every practice to keep their spot, that's what this team needs.
  3. I'll bet he stays at linebacker and plays a prominent role in the nickle and dime packages.
  4. Copied off ESPN's blog on the NFL Combine. New Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli spoke to the media Saturday from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis and described the type of player he is looking for as he tries to turn around the Chiefs, who won a total of six games in the past two seasons. "The same kind of player we're looking for with the 34th pick, that we'll look for in the third round, the fourth round ... big, strong, tough, smart, disciplined football players. That's the kind of team we're going to build. ... This is important here, because you get to see some things that are indicators, but most important is how these guys play football. Every program that I've been in that has been successful, we've gone out and found football players. The best moves we made player-personnel wise, is players who can play football; not necessarily guys who tested best or had the higher test scores. It's a mosaic of all this information that you piece together." Sounds exactly like Bo's plan to get the Huskers back to the level we all want them.
  5. NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! SAY IT AIN"T SO!!!!! Stay the course Mike, you, Bo and the Huskers are made for each other.
  6. Video of Rachel playing sand volleyball in the Qwest Center. NUFF SAID http://www.kolnkgin.com/sports/headlines/38739567.html
  7. Unless you go to practice and watch Baker perform, all you can do is speculate. But with this guy's measurables and bloodlines he'll be fun to watch.
  8. This is one of the coolest things I've seen. I've forwarded this link to everyone that I know who was at this game.
  9. And then play "Bang a Gong", by T-Rex.
  10. There's a poster on another board who brings a taperecorder to the Breakfast and posts nearly every word spoken by the coach and the questions by fans. http://64.131.67.10/vbbs/showthread.php?t=63400
  11. BigWillie, I was enjoying your insight in this thread until this last quote concerning John Leverson. I know this kid personally and you cannot question his brain. He's a tremendously smart kid, both in the classroom and on the field.
  12. Dothan (Ala.) Northview QB B.J. Chitty told Sporting News Today he is no longer solidly committed to Auburn. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound dual-threat signal caller had committed to the Tigers in September, but admitted he made the decision too quickly. Chitty is a class of 2010 prospect. "I really wanted to re-open things," Chitty told SN Today. "I could care less about their record right now, that wasn't it. I just wanted to see what all is out there. I'm still young and have plenty of time." Chitty also has scholarship offers from Alabama and Duke, and Nebraska recently extended an offer, too. Also, Auburn is not out of the mix for his services. He told SN Today that one school would immediately pick up his commitment if they offered. "I'm a real Florida Gator fan," Chitty said. "If they offer, I'm gone, pretty much." Chitty described himself as a player. "I have good speed and good size," Chitty said. "I can go up for the ball, or I can throw it if you need me to throw it. I'm just all around, for real. I just want to get where I can get on the field. They can put me on defense for all I care; I just like to play ball." Chitty did play some wide receiver as a sophomore.
  13. Player: Austin Hinder Hometown: Steamboat Springs, CO Position: QB Height: 6'5" Weight: 178 lbs. 40 time: 4.85 Visit Date: TBD Scholarships: California, Colorado, Kansas State, Nebraska, Stanford Favorites: California, Colorado, Kansas State, Nebraska, Misery, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, Texas A@M, UCLA He's still a year and a half away from having to sign on the dotted line, and Austin Hinder already has several good options to choose from. The Steamboat Springs (Colo.) QB already has Nebraska, California, Stanford and Kansas State competing for his services. Hinder, a class of 2010 player who is 6-foot-5, 180 pounds, got his first scholarship offer from California, where his grandfather once played football. He told Sporting News Today that it was a thrilling moment when the Golden Bears sent a scholarship offer his way. He has no favorites yet, but he did say he'd like to get his commitment over with as soon as he knows for sure where he'd like to go--so a summer 2009 commitment is a possibility. "I'm balanced right now," Hinder told SN Today. "I'm just trying to find a place where I'll have a successful career. ... I would like to get it over with as soon as I can, but I'm going to make sure I find the place that's best for me." Hinder described his style of play. "I'm a pro-style quarterback; I love to drop back out of the shotgun and throw the ball downfield for sure," Hinder said. "I'm also really athletic. I'm not going to just sit back there and take a sack, I'm going to use my feet to get out of trouble. Mainly, I like to throw the deep ball." In a full sophomore season in 2007, he threw for 1,500 yards, and 17 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He is one of the top 250 prospects to watch in the class of 2010, according to Rivals.com.
  14. By Brian McLaughlin Sporting News Today Devin Gardner is only halfway through his junior year, yet he already has a bunch of Big Ten Conference schools chasing him for his commitment. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound dual-threat quarterback out of Detroit Inkster has already picked up scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Purdue and Wisconsin, as well as non Big Ten offers from Nebraska and Cincinnati. Gardner told Sporting News Today that he feels he can fit into just about any system. "I think I can fit into any offense, really," Gardner told SN Today. "I work with my coach every day to be a better passer. ... Going into the season, everybody was talking about how I'm a good athlete, but now everybody's saying I'm a real quarterback, too. I've evened out my passing and my rushing." This year, Gardner led his team to a 12-2 record, accounting for 48 total touchdowns--26 passing and 22 rushing. He said he threw for 1,500-plus yards and rushed for nearly 1,000, and he was quite proud of the fact that he only threw six interceptions. He has enjoyed the recruiting experience. "It's been real nice," Gardner told SN Today. "The first Big Ten school to offer was Michigan State, and I was really excited about that. The rest started following suit. ... I'm open to moving around the country; my mom wants me to see and do new things, but she also wants to see me play and everything." Gardner admits he grew up an Ohio State fan, but he said he's open to any school right now, and he's looking forward to evaluating them. He is rated one of the top 250 juniors in the nation by Rivals.com.
  15. Steve Ryan was on 590 after 5 pm today and he said that Young is visiting KU on an official recruiting visit this weekend. Ryan thinks maybe Young was 'caught up in the moment' of the atmosphere at the CU game, or maybe the kid just really doesn't know what he wants and simply can't say no. Steve R honestly has no idea where this kid will end up, I want him at UNL, because he really studded out at Summer Camp. Ryan also said that Husker coaches are going strong after another KU commit, CB Prinz Cande from Trinity High in Euless, TX (yeah that same HS were we have two commits). Ryan said that Cande is "for now" solid for KU, but to Ryan, the term 'for now' raises red flags. Stay Tuned.
  16. After the game on Friday, my two boys and I stopped in to Popeye's to get some supper. After ordering, another Husker fan was behind us and I asked him if he thought about Henery's kick. We exchanged stories until our food was ready. As we were getting to the car, my 9 year old asked me if I knew that guy. I said, "No, but he's a Husker fan" and my 15 year old finishes my sentence by adding, "so, that makes him family."
  17. Looks like Notre Dame students are worse than students from sCUm. At least sCUm students threw their snowballs at the opposing team LOL.
  18. Yes, I believe we are recruiting him at RB. Rex's season ended last night with a loss in the playoffs to Euless Trinity. Burkhead was his usual stud, 27 carries fro 142 yards, completed 1 pass for 19 yards and caught 6 pass for 29 yards. He scored 3 TD's (2 rush 1 rec). He also intercepted a pass from his LB spot
  19. Who ever watched last night's game saw what Aurora OL/DL Andrew Rodriguez can do. Granted, he was bigger than anyone who lined up against him, but this kid flat out dominated on both sides of the ball last night. I think it was Damon Benning who said during the tv broadcast if Rodriguez gives all-out effort, he's the best football player in Nebraska. I'll tell you right now, he's ten times the player that Elkhorn's Trevor Robinson was as a senior and Rodriguez is only a junior. We need this kid signed, sealed and delivered to Lincoln in 2010.
  20. While I have nothing concrete to back it up, my hunch says this kid is "N".
  21. I would agree that Coleman is a really good high school football player. I watched dismantle the Crete Cardinals, but I don't know if he's a D-1 scholarship player. From what I've heard he's getting interest from Craig Bohl at North Dakota State and UNO. There are two kids that are going to garner a ton of recruiting interest playing in this game, but they are both juniors. Andrew Rodriguez - Aurora High - Offensive Tackle - 6'6" - 300 give or take a few, already has a scholarship offer from the Huskers Jesse Hinz (OL/DL 6'6'' 280) who has interest from Oklahoma and LSU among others and will probably get an offer if he studs out at summer camp at UNL. If the OU vs Texas Tech game wasn't on at the same time. I'd go to Memorial Stadium and watch this game because it's gonna be a good one. IMO, the edge goes to Beatrice.
