  1. When a Giant exec (do not know name or title) was being interviewed, he stated Wandale playing running back at Nebraska was important. He said it showed his versatility and they liked that. So his time at Neb had a positive impact on him being a 2nd round pick. Sorry wish I had a link to share.
  2. I think coach Whipple coached Pickett for 3 yrs. Check out this article: https://www.theprogressnews.com/heisman-notebook-kenny-pickett-on-mark-whipple-dan-marino-and-more/article_369397f3-1898-55bb-a4d1-969ebc916cc7.html Not saying it will happen at Neb (hope so) but Coach Whipple gets a lot of credit for Pickett's success, from Pickett.
  3. on The Beat with JoJo. JoJo and Kolarevic both commented on him moving to JoJo's position for next season. Really doubt he transfers. He wants to at next level and transferred to Neb to prove he could play in the Big Ten. Leaving after one season would be a complete quit for him.
  4. My dream scenario is hiring Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops. Keep Frost as an Associate Head Coach/QB Coach/Co OC. Move Coach V to an analyst position. Sure this will never happen. But it is really close to being good. Hate to nuke it all again.
  5. Actually I have a very good understanding. If looking at YPC your population is carries. Tossing out a full game of carries is not tossing out an outlier, it is tossing out a large chunk of the population, good, bad and in between. That would be a terrible statistical error. If you were looking at yards per game and you had one game where he rushed for 2 yds, and you found out it was due to a torn ACL, then you would right to throw out that game. But I cannot see what statistical sense it would make to throw out his best game of production even if your population was yds per game. What would the anomaly be to make that data a possible error? The reason to toss an outlier is to avoid bad measurement or some sort of data error. Were any of Mills runs measured wrong? Was the data miscalculated? Did the defense lay down which produced greater production? Nope each run is a pure accurate data point of his production and would not be an outlier. Now however I do agree that production data can be misleading. Ex. the yr Neb destroyed Fresno St at Fresno. It was big play after big play that scored points. But no consistent production. While the yardage and the score board looked awesome, watching the game, it was obvious there were issues. Mills eye test did not give the happy feel of his calculated production. So I know stats very very well. But you can tell English and writing not so much
  6. Those are games Avg yards per carry should include all carries and all games. It is an objective stat vs. subjective. In your chart above 11 out of 16 games he had 4ish yds or better per carry. If I had to explain Mills to a buddy who had never watched him play, I would consider him about a 4 yds per carry guy. Which is good. He is a tough SOB, that played hurt often. The o line play needs a RB like Ameer that can bounce lateral quick to get to a crease. Or an Ozigbo that could pressure the los before commiting to a crease. Mills is a straight shot run you over RB and the O line isnt quite good enough to maximize Mills. I hope he finds success in the NFL, but I see him doing better maybe in Canada.
  7. Games cannot be an outlier whether really good or really bad.
  8. Last night I re-watched the Rutgers game, for the first time. Without the stress of winning or losing, Adrian looked really good. He seems to do some awkward things that other top Qbs do not do. His straight run to the sideline was really odd. Sliding short of the first down vs. Purdue. His fumbles in the Rutgers game were after great runs. I think it is all mental for him right now. If the pieces around him can help him relax and take pressure off, he will be very special again.
  9. I believe he has another son playing high school now. So probably a way to get attention for him. But I could also see him being bitter about Kades season. Fans on Twitter were d bagish about the mustache junk. I could see Kurt not taking that lightly.
  10. Sorry I do not even know how to reply on this site. so if I screwed this up sorry. Since he left the town I live, in 2014 ish I have not spoke to him. Only his wife a few times and mostly about how they like it and what she likes about Lincoln. I would not use the past few encounters as an excuse to reconnect and try to get inside scoop. What I do know, he loves football, he is understands the QB position and he only wants to win. he is wicked competitive. He also has very high regard for Frost and would not have went anywhere else but with Frost at this stage in his career. My main point is you cannot critique anyone with one sample. And not look at the scenarios around that one sample. Fans can belly ache and make claims Adrian has regressed. That is all up for argument and a fun discussion. But that does not make a coach incapable, especially one that has been doing since the 80's. One thing I will share, and this is from a friend of another coach on staff. They were shocked at how bad it had gotten at Nebraska. Per this person they knew this was not a 1 2 or 3 yr rebuild. They are getting it done faster than they had feared it would take. Have not spoke to this person since early this yr so not sure what the thoughts are during or after the season. I have been a Husker fan since 79 when I started to understand what I was watching at the age of 5. I recall a lot of angry moments breaking TV, throwing pool balls through walls. Other than 3 yrs there was a lot of frustration. At this point I am I am happy to be committed to this staff and I would give them 10 yrs to get it corrected. For me there is no magic hire. And I am tired of all the goofy crap that keeps happening. It needs to get fixed. Both can be true. Anyhow I really enjoy this site. Would be a lot more fun if these discussions were at a bar and we could have one coach or former player to dish all the good stuff. Have a Merry Christmas
  11. I do not comment a lot but read every day. This place is awesome with great insight and venting. Regarding Mario, do not discount his ability to build a qb room. His task at Nebraska was unlike others, had zero qbs. He got a great Freshman but that was it. AM was then sacked with capt duties as a soft spoken soph. Way too much to process. And he has been injured each yr. it was a mess when he took it over and it still needs a lot of work. I’ve known Mario, I’ve have watched a couple games with him. He is a guru. Also know a couple qbs he coached and they swear by him. You have to consider the hand he was dealt vs just blasting his ability. He was short stacked.
  12. I hope it is Jerry Montgomery current Packers D line coach.
  13. I have a t shirt idea for the Michigan game.  Anyone know an artist and t shirt maker?

    1. Vizsla1

      Vizsla1

Yes.... TAG Ink in Lincoln are great to work with.  Large/small orders they do them all.  I have used them for about 5 years for at least 2 projects a year.  reminder- it can get messy if you are trying to use any unauthorized logo etc... they will not take that risk

  14. How does Michigan get a BCS game over Michigan St? This all seems dumb to me. Money is all that matters.
  15. Being from Iowa and seeing Vandenburg play in the Dome for the state championship I wish the best in every game minus Nebraska.
  16. The O lineman said he did not realize he was stomped. That was in the ESPN article. This should squash it. Comparing that to Hayneworth raking his cleat across a guys head when the guys helmet was off is ignorant. Stupid stupid media trying to be heard. Also come on that lineman should have been pounded. The play was over, Suh was on his knees when that dude was continuing to bull over him. He was hooking Suh's arm and holding him down. The only place for Suh to put his hand to get up was on his helmet. That O lineman was holding on not letting him up. I would have been pissed off and angry if I were in Suh's situation. To have people labeling him this hard for what happen in that situation is dumb. Would I have rather he not do it, sure. Do it will damage him so he needs to have more control, for sure. But it lacks intellectual integrity to make think into as big of a deal as it has become. Oh and Slauson looks like a complete moron right now. He is one draft of free agent signing away from being out of the league.
  17. I do not think he is getting enough credit for how much he developed this year. He made big leaps this year and showed he can lead this team. Bright future.
  18. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
  19. I have no clue if any of the players read this site but if any do this is to them. I just wanted to say thank you. I have had a blast watching you play this season. If I were a parent I would be proud by the way you have handled this season win or lose. I see a huge upside and believe a National Championship is within reach the next couple of years. This season you have two games left. Win or lose no pressure so just go out and have fun and play fast!! Also I am in the heart of Hawkeye Nation, so you I am begging, no pleading you to win on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have to hide in my home until next season if you lose. Thanks
  20. In life you get beat, sometimes you just need to congratulate the winner and be done with it. This seems to be one of those times. NW is a high class intelligent football team and they earned that win. Fitzgerald was a great player and a good coach. The Huskers played hard to the end. It was a great game to watch. The only thing I feel bad about was I told my son before the game if Neb. won I would take him to Chuckie Cheese. My 5 yr old is being brain washed by Iowa fans and I thought it was a great plan to get him cheering on the huskers. It back fired and now he really "hates" them. GBR
  21. I would guess that Bo is harder on himself than anyone on this message board. I never want to see Bo go. His passion and desire to win will produce results eventually. That was a great game to watch. I have been impressed with how Martinez is managing the game. I think good things are ahead for this program.
  22. I would disagree. You are right that Abdullah is no longer a run threat, but it is not hard for Beck to turn this into a wheel route & have Martinez fake the option & drop back. If the defense creeps up to play the other RB's & Martinez. It should be pretty open pass to him. Also if you get the safety to bite, you can put 6 on the board, because there are not many players who could catch Abdullah from behind. I agree with you. I meant in the actual pictures the pass threat was quickly eliminated due to Yoshi going 2nd level right off the snap. I am not a good communicator via written word.
  23. I await your decision. I have decided, no screens.
