  1. Thanks for the tip! Which boarding spot would be easiest if coming from the west ? Also can you park at the softball stadium?
  2. Not from Lincoln and looking for a little advice on best route to and from stadium including where to park. Got two little tikes anxious to make the trip from western NE any advice appreciated.
  3. I don't like it called the hero game and I don't like leaders/legends. Arbitrary and aloof. Maybe this describes the nature of things these days.
  4. Since somebody put about 3/4 of the game on youtube I watched it recently and really enjoyed it. There was so much at stake, and it was a holiday game to boot. (Right?) Were any of you there, or do you have any cool memories of that game or season? Some of the cool things about college football from that era have been lost or forgotten. I liked the way they introduced the players to the camera, and that they showed the bands at halftime. The game flowed well, and was a joy to watch.
  5. dont forget the year before when we nearly made it 4 out of 5
  6. Theres more to judging a QB than"running, passing, or both" When TF took the field it was like somebody hit the start button on an engine or lightning in a bottle and the rest was history. Its called leadership on the field. Its not measured in personal total yards. Its measured in consistency, and whether you make the people around you better.
  7. I agree with the top 3, but I would have bumped Frost up a little simply because in the last game ofthe 97 season, he was running that offense as well as anyone ever did. His performance that night and post game lobbying led the huskers to the title
  8. Berringer would win a starting job over one or maybe two of those guys, and he may or may not belong on the list but I have respect for what Zac Taylor was able to do he was a tough kid with no quit in him. Also if Gantz had been given the starts he should have gotten his legacy would have been large.
  9. calvin jones, derek brown, phillips, green theres 4 years in there somewhere I will go with. The best i have seen
  10. expectations should be championships every year. B1G, and/or BCS. Interesting side note, I would love to have seen this years squad face off in an end of the year battle with the husker squad a few years ago that ended up beating Michigan in the bowl game.
  11. My 2 cents..it could be time for Bo to go. Well coached teams are better at the end of a season than at the beginning.
  12. For all you young kids born after about 1986 there used to be a couple things that were really good in America and it went without saying. One was Husker football. The other one was Pizza hut pizza. Both are questionable in this modern era.
  13. Last time our quarterback ran on them to keep the offense going. Not going to happen again. its 3 to 1 Wisconsin wins. Our offense mysteriously stalls out inside the thirty five. Wisconsin will not relinquish their lead their lead this time.
  14. Played both. The OP is right if you didn't do football in college good chance you lack perspective on the Bo thing. And there's a reason the OP didn' t ask if you played in elementary.
  15. Talk about sideline behavior. He smacked an assistant coach upside the head and told him not to talk back. You can check it on YouTube. If Bo did that the whole world would be talking about it.
  16. picks in general are very bad in tight games. But that can't stop you from trying to throw. Bottom line is the offense is NOT the problem right now. I think we are averaging well over 30 a game
  17. I mean you've got to take an honest assessment of where things are with this program. In the marathon of college football, Nebraska has fallen to the middle of the pack, well off the lead pace set by Devaney and Osborne. When you look at the things that make up a great power in college football you can answer YES or NO in terms of this question: Does Nebraska still have an edge? Lets take a look: Strength and Conditioning: NO The leading edge pioneered by Epely has been lost other schools are well caught up Ability to Recruit: NO When TO retired we lost a huge draw for young talent. Lack of recent relevance doesn't help. Coaching: NO Many quality coaches out there teaching great football at the top level. More scholarships: NO well OK we have the edge on at least two schools for awhile... Facilities: NO many other schools with large stadiums nice weight rooms etc. These aint the days of beating up on outmanned and outcoached Big 8 schools any more and riding the popular vote to the Orange bowl. Those days are OVER You gotta ask yourself are we offering anything special to those young 5 star players they cant get somewhere else? warm weather year round? NO Facilities that are far and away the best? NO Familiar culture and demographic (for many)? NO Closeness to home (for many) NO Transcendant coach (Osborne, Bowden, etc?) NO Unique Offense matching their skills: NO A meaningful number of top level recriuts aren't just going to show up here for the hell of it. They need a reason. I was watching florida/LSU today and if you think we have the manpower to line up with either of those teams you are flat delusional.
  18. I am not saying Nebraska football is dead but the dominance is over. Realize that Osborne had an amazing run but we are 13 years from that.
  19. This one's all gonna come down to whats in here (points to chest). Looks to me like this: OSU is going to be about 10 points better at home against our D than last week on the road against MSU who's defense is actually better. OSU: 27 Nebraska is capable of scoring at least 12 points more than MSU did due to a much more capable and higher ranked offense: NU: 28.
  20. That was a catch. He caught the ball and was down by contact long before the ball came out. I think because replay makes things look a lot different than full speed it should have been challenged. Look you know certain things in your heart. The fact that this WAS a catch is one of those things. Rule book be dammed We don't need refs watching action after the play is dead.
  21. If you look at the stats and results, Nebraska should win this by one to two touchdowns on a neutral field. But since it's at Ohio St. with the whole Urban Myer schtick, I would only take Nebraska by 2.5. Will be a good game at least for awhile. One thing I find interesting is that no one in Ohio is even talking about Ameer Abdullah, or Taylor's passing efficiency.
  22. Seriously, they really are better when used together!!!! Give Rex some reps, and give Abdullah some reps. That's a real tough combination on any defense. They each have unique skills that will keep a defense out of tempo. And use them to keep each other fresh!! I will be so disappointed in these coaches if Abdullah gets shorted on carries against OSU if we lose. That would be shame
  23. the call on the catch may have been by the book. But the book has changed from what it used to be and the old way was fine. Used to be you secured the ball, and got one foot down or were downed in the field of play and the play was dead, catch made. Why does the receiver need to keep playing after the play is dead? Should d-backs be trying to strip the ball after the player is downed? Because under this system that is exactly what they are doing. To me what happens after the play is dead is irrelevant. Let's just say its not a catch unless the receiver maintains possession until they hand the ball to the white hat. It's getting ridiculous. That was a catch, the player was down by contact, and the ground caused the fumble which by rule stays with the offense. 1st and goal Nebraska simple as that.
  24. Ohio State is in trouble and they don't even know it yet. If you look at Ohio St. stats and results I see nothing telling me that Nebraska can't win the game. They couldn't pull away from an 0-4 UAB conference USA team. Their strength is rushing the ball and we have seen the improvements in the Nebraska D in that regard. On the other hand their defense hasn't seen anything like what we have to offer. I really like our special teams as well. If we can overcome the atmosphere and just play football OSU is going to have more than a handfull. The last time I felt this way about a road game was just before the Mizzou game in 2009.
