  1. My feelings as well. Bush is one of the better athletes on the team. Size, speed, etc. He should be playing. Let him return kick offs and or punts. We have desperate need of someone who can do that. Maybe DPE is back? If Bush is third or arguably be 4th string if POB was worth his scholarship, he should be playing in the mean time. Now, if we lose Tommy or Fyfe, then he returns, maybe. This is why we make a deliberate effort to have no less than 2 QBs ready to go with some game snaps under their belts. We are one injury away from a disaster if Tommy goes down. I see you guys are still two pees In a pod. No, Bush isn't a Rush End. No, Bush isn't more athletic and a better return man than DPE. No, Bush isn't a better WR option than the 8 guys in front of him. No, Bush isn't even our 3rd best QB. What makes you think Bush could't move to DE? I think Bush could also play LB, but we are fairly deep at LB. He should at least be playing special teams; kick returns and coverage. Randy Gregory was listed at 240. Bush is listed at 6-3, 220. If he could add 20 to 40 pounds with a minimum loss of speed he could be an effective DE. There are plenty of examples of successful position switches. Tony Veland switched to the secondary from his recruited quarterback position prior to his junior year, started for the Huskers MNT team, and won a super bowl with the Broncos. Cody Glenn switched from IB to linebacker his senior year and was drafted by the Redskins. The point about Bush switching positions is that it's too early to make him switch. He's in his 3rd year in the program, and he has a legitimate chance at winning the QB job in 2017. Why move him now?
  2. I would hope that NU is good enough every season where they are in the championship (at least division) discussion going into the final 1-2 games each season. Other than being a first year coach or crazy circumstances involving the season, and the coach is headed for an obvious losing season, I would think that coach is in serious jeopardy of losing his job.

Agree with Matty and I would add that he is currently sitting 3rd on the depth chart with 1 and 2 being Seniors. He also has the mentality that he will be the man next year - if he doesn't have that mentality then he isn't a D1 QB. If he gets beat out next year by Lee or POB then I think would consider a position change. However, until that happens his mindset is taking the rains in '17. (I'm not saying he will - just what his mindset has to be). Bush is currently the 3rd string QB as a RS sophomore, behind two 5th year seniors. He knows he will have competition for the #1 QB job with POB and Gebbia next year, but he deserves a chance to let that competition play out before being told to move positions. Also, if POB beats him out in 2017 for the #1 job, there is nothing wrong with having a junior backup. That would also allow Gebbia to redshirt in 2017 and put on some strength and weight. Gebbia is a string bean right now. I just don't get the thought of automatically giving the starting job to a freshman, just so he can have the most years to start down the road. I remember plenty of QB's being starters for 1-2 seasons and playing plenty good enough. Don't forget about Tanner Lee....who as of now might have the best shot at starting next season. You are correct. My bad. My point is that let's just things play out for 2016 and then the 2017 QB competition before we tell the coaches they should be moving Bush to another position.

  5. We should chalk Fresno State up as a win. They're terrible. So were Illinois and Purdue.
  6. Are you saying to have Bush change positions permanently? I think there is a difference than creating a package of plays for Newcombe in a simpler offense (at least for a Wingback) in 1997, compared to moving Bush to WR for this season when there is already plenty of depth at that position.
  7. Keep Mick at DT. Thats where he needs to be. We want speed at the DE.
  8. I was hard on Newby last year, but I heard that he did a lot of film study to see how he missed holes and didn't get extra yardage when available. It sounds like he is going to try and run with more authority this year and get the tough yards when the big play isn't there. I hope Newby is able to have a big season and he is able to take his talents to the NFL. With his pass catching skills, I think he could become a 3rd down back at the next level. If Newby isn't getting the job done, I hope the coaches have guys who are ready to step in and make the run game successful.
  9. The Ginger Assassin saw his mentor and old boss (Alvarez) take Wisconsin over to Under Armour. I wouldn't be surprised if NU goes to UA or Nike. The only thing that would be if Adidas throws a boat load of money at Nebraska. It looks like Adidas' North America strategy is focusing on basketball and casual shoes and apparel. I have no idea if Adidas is even interested in continuing a relationship with Nebraska.
  10. Adidas might be more willing to throw more cash at Nebraska after strong results, so it could help drive up the price for the next uniform and apparel provider at NU.
  11. I agree. I'm not a big fan of "national" radio guys. Especially, if they do the show on their own. They stay too high level and dumb things down to a common denominator. They also tend to just say controversial things to create buzz.
  12. Probably just having film review and walk through on Sunday instead. I think it might have to do with trying to minimize some of the injuries as wellHaving Monday off will also enable the coaches another day to devise the game plan for the next week's game. I think it's typical for teams to have 2 days off after a game, besides film study.
  13. Are you interested in a multi-level marketing opportunity?
  14. His run scheme's were good I always thought. I thought his decision making/play calling was suspect. However I liked the scheme of what Watson was doing. Agreed. Watson's 2010 offense was fun, creative, and deadly until Taylor got hurt. I thought that Watson did a good job of designing runs and blocking schemes for the RB run game. Some of the traps and pulls that he used against Missouri when Helu set the single game run game record was awesome. Watson also ran the 98G trap over and over in the 62-36 beating of CU over NU in '01. I think Watson struggled with how to use Taylor consistently in the run game. The QB run game wasn't Watson's strength. It was Taylor's talent and pure speed than enabled him to find creases and break off huge runs. I always thought Watson was a genius at reviewing film and designing a game plan. IMO, he was below average at making adjustments during the game. I would have liked to keep him as OC, but let someone else call plays. OC's who "script" the first 15 plays or quarter of the game can typically find success that way. The best OC's are able to figure out how a defense will respond and then call plays to counteract that. The average-poor OC's aren't able to make those in-game adjustments.

  16. Yes and no. UCLA was not very good. But there were other teams that weren't very good that we didn't really try to run on. And there were teams that were pretty good at run defense (Michigan State) that we had pretty good success running the ball against. I'm not saying we should run the ball 80% of the time every game. But people continually trying to shrug off the results of the UCLA game aren't really looking at the whole picture. One thing that I've always been amazed at is our ability to move the ball on Michigan State, who has consistently fielded one of the best defenses in the conference and country the past few years. I don't think we should expect a complete flip in run/pass this season, and definitely nothing like we saw against UCLA on a game-to-game basis. But if anything, the UCLA game should give the staff confidence that Nebraska can run the ball and often experiences more success when being run-heavy as opposed to pass-heavy. I think Michigan State's defense has been overrated, especially when it comes to playing spread offense teams. Oregon and Ohio State shredded them in 2014. Nebraska put up a ton of yards in '14, as well, just had too many turnovers. I think Michigan State has been able to prop up their defensive rankings through the years playing against crappy Big Ten defenses.
  17. I was wondering if there are any other equipment nerds out there like I am. This really isn't surprising as Nike's equipment never has been big with the average golfer. Yeah, there might be a few guys who wanted to play what Tiger Woods played, but Nike was never going to compete with Taylor Made, Callaway, Titleist, and others equipment companies. Now, Nike can concentrate on apparel and shoes, which have the highest margins anyway, and their staffers can wear Nike head to toe and be associated with those players.
  18. The people's vote had no bearing. The flag bearer is selected by all the team captains for the US.
  19. No brand is ever going to make huge changes to a Michigan or other blue-blood uniform. However, the uniforms look very clean, cut very well, and nailed in the details that Adidas seems to suffer with. Nike jerseys just look of a higher quality. Whether they actually are or not, who knows, but they at least market them far more successfully. People like to knock on hype if it's somebody else's hype, but hype is a real thing in the fact that it changes people's opinions for the better. That's valuable. I understand hype is valuable and the Jordan Brand creates a ton of excitement and hype. I just don't see a huge difference between last year's uniform by Adidas and this year's uniform by Nike/Jordan. Now, get off my lawn!!!
  20. Riley: "We certainly don't want to throw the ball 45 times per game." Amazing how it took so long to figure that out.

      I hope this isn't lip-service, again.

Tommy is not a "horrible QB." He may not be right for this system, but if Riley's going to keep TA as his starter, it's Riley's job to tool the offense to Armstrong's strengths.

That's exactly right knapp. Tommy could be very good if he's used right. And I'm with Q, I've heard this numerous times but for some reason Langs and MR don't make it happen. Let's hope they've finally got the willpower to not panic and go all air Coryell at the drop of a pin.

  21. How are those uniforms "sick"? They look pretty much exactly like they did under Adidas this past year. The shoes are pretty cool, but Michigan's uniforms have been basically the same forever. Logo is everything to kids. Even more so than ever. Maybe NU should make a deal with Lebron and get his King James logo on there before anyone else does. I understand that the logo is important, I used to be a kid who was in love with Nike and Jordan/Jumpman gear. But, it's not like the Jordan brand made huge changes to the uniform.
  22. I thought the NU deal with Adidas runs through 2017-18. It does, but I think the way these work usually ends up with a new deal being struck in the year before the actual contract ends. Tennessee and Michigan, for example, broke news of signing with Nike a good while ago, and then went through another season wearing Adidas gear. Yes, I understand that, Dennis Dodd says the Adidas contract has less than a year to run. He's wrong. I agree that negotiations with Adidas, UA, and Nike will probably start within a year, but that's not what Dodd is saying in his tweet.

  25. Andrew and/or his dad are head cases. They have wanted to be pampered and their asses kissed since high school. White had a great program at KU, but wasn't able to make it work. I am sure he and his dad don't think it was Andrew's fault. Andrew transfers to NU to get more playing time, and he got more playing time and did well. However, he dreams of the NBA and thought that teams would be lining up to take him in as a transfer. Well, that isn't exactly working out either. Of course, the Whites will say that none of this is their fault, and it's just bad circumstances they keep finding themselves in.
