  1. There is no problem with winning 9 games every year. That's great. If 9-10 wins is the ceiling . . . that is a problem. Sounds good to me. Football brings in more than enough revenue to justify some extra spending. Has this dropped off? I always thought Nebraska was leading the pack with this sort of thing. I seriously doubt that. As far as the schooling and athlete support we are still very well in that area but with the demands of football taking more time there needs to be more flexibility for the guys to take advantage. So more hours, tutors etc to help fit the students schedule as well.
  2. There are 4 years left. Its standard in coaching to be working on a 5 yr contract because of recruiting. Its hard to sell a family on you'll be here for the kid's entire playing days when your contract doesn't go out at least that far.
  3. This seems a bit of a stretch doesn't it? You don't think AA is looking at the lifespan of a RB as far as carries and basing his decision on that? Thats what his family told a friend who was at the pre-games stuff the day before we played.
  4. Bo has already stated there will be changes in duties. ST is the main focus. I don't think he's stated "they're perfect in everyway or that the fans aren't smart enough to understand". To me i was shocked to learn that RB was incharge of the PR duties which to me was one of the bigger areas we need to fix. I honestly would like Bo to take over the ST stuff.
  5. and FYI part of the reason AA is considering the draft is due to some of the unrest here in Lincoln with the team feeling like the department does not fully support it.
  6. The next two weeks will tell us as much about the direction of the program by the influence of the chancellor and AD. Bo's annual review will take place and in all honesty is should be a positive review and have a 1 year extension. If this isn't done then we know they are trying to weaken the foundation that's in place. I know people don't think its that hard to win 9 games every year anymore because we play an additional game each year but if it were that easy there would be more than 3 teams that have done it 6 years in a row. Extensions and raises for most of the current staff so they can keep those folks. Most are already being contacted by other coaches about openings. One of the biggest things to help the next step is to keep these guys currently on staff (with maybe assignment adjustments). Also on the table is the request for 6-8 more full time dedicated staff positions for recruiting with actual competitive salaries. Bama pays Steele 300k per year to do this. I don't think we're asking for that but we need more than $40,000 for some of these roles. We also need a way for our staff to have more private plane time would also help when life is busy in early evaluation periods and late recruiting pushes. More athlete support in the form of study facilities, life skills coaching, life after football education, tutors, etc
  7. Rumor is this is AAs last game tomorrow. Will go pro.

  8. He doesn't love his players or he would have locked him in a shed after the game to avoid the light rather than have him hang at the hotel after additional testing.
  9. Can't cheat the eye test. Which in article he admitted he failed. I'll guarantee the doctors told Bo that he did indeed fail the eye test. I also don't care all that much, I just pointed out something I found interesting. Rule of thumb is that if a person is speaking coherently and responding normally that you don't need to do the eye testing. Usually the three plays they are talking about aren't the last three but three that were given before the game as a reference test. I'm guessing that was the case here as well and reported incorrectly. Besides, the pupil response tests is actually for people who are out cold to see if they've suffered brain injuries. People however do them for people who are awake because they can be helpful in addition to the verbal questioning. Its also probably only been int he last 3 or 4 years that there has been a big push for eye testing having greater weight in deciding if someone could play or not. At least that's been the push on the youth sport level.
  10. This will be a very interesting few weeks in the football world with all the NFL openings and soon to be changes at some big schools.

  11. Sick and tired of this douche attacking these young men. Suspend me, I don't care. But this has gone too far. I hope you and your apparent little man syndrome feel good about yourself now as you sit behind your computer and laugh. Big man attacking these young MEN who sacrifice so much so you can probably sit on your couch and fap to Husker football. Your attitude is bullsh#t and you clearly have no idea how big of a hypocrite you are attacking their character. I'd like to see you walk-in to this team's locker-room after a loss and spew this same sh#t to these MEN who gave their all only to fall short and have douchebags like you come after them, knowing they can't tell you off in return. I really hope you feel great about yourself. Merry Christmas. If you get bounced please let me know.
  12. Its a huge issue. Fans are less and less reasonable all the time. At all levels of the game. They are becoming more and more aggressive toward players, coaches, refs, other fans etc. People need some perspective.
  13. That list is so bad I actually hope Beck stays. I think Darlington will be an OC at a D-I school very soon. He's credited with taking his team to the state title (tough comp) for a second strait year. He lost his starting QB and I think best WR. His line averaged about 215 lbs and he converted a FB to QB. They killed it this year as he installed a completely new offense in 1 week complete with new blocking schemes etc. Very creative mind and that's why he's getting noticed. He's also getting calls from college and pro folks asking questions about his schemes. That bodes pretty well for him. Mangino and Leipold are also very quality coaches when it comes to offense. I'd be ok with any of those 3. I'm sure more names will pop up too if he does go.
  14. Muschamp is on very thin ice and it was obvious he had a considerable hand in dictating the drab O Pease ran. Don't see why Beck would take that job. The ice has melted and Muschamp is walking on water. Only Jesus himself could survive a season like that in Florida. If Beck could squeeze any improvement out of that Florida offense, though, he'd be hailed as a savior and Florida would make some noise this next year. I could see why he would jump if offered. Probably not the safest of bets, but it does have a big payoff/upside if it works out. The other advantage is an AD that comes out in support of coaches even though they are struggling at 4-8 rather than have one leaving you twisting it the wind as you go 8-4. I think as of last talks he was still in the think of it. Might be 2nd choice if rumors are true, but its likely the other guy will turn down the offer. If so I think our new OC could be one of the following from the "mill" of names, Darlington's father who's being considered as one of the next Gus Malzahn. Cotton (please God no), Frost will be rumored but not interested, Mangino and Lance Leipold who almost ended up here before.
  15. Harold is Howard Harold Hunter out of Texas. He's a guy I get a lot of insight and info from about whats going on from another board. He's very close with TO as well as many players current and former. Good guy from all accounts. He has a stated on the other board the round table didn't go like he thought it would. He said lots of people all wanting to talk made it hard to actually get honest information out. Dirk kind of when of and started making up facts to support his opinion and it was tough to refute or get words in because of the set up. He did say everyone was very good to each other and during the breaks there were some exchanges including one between him and dirk where he made him look pretty foolish. That's part of why Dirk was so hostile toward him in the end of it. (I have not listened yet). He said everyone shook his had after except dirk who took off. He said it apparent there isn't a lot of respect for that guy and he's obviously a voice for Harv.
  16. So in the great twitter unblock scandal I was unblocked from Super Dirk. I followed him and when they brought back the block it left me unblocked because I had re-followed. I'm trying really hard not to call him a fuktard and get blocked again.

I have no idea how this guy has a job. He was bashing Chip Brown for reporting on a story that never became an actual event. Umm....hello Dirk...what did you just do with Bo the last month?

Following and reading lead to ratings....that's why I do neither with OWH or ESPN except what gets linked here. I long ago stopped confusing those "sources" for actual news.

  17. I disagree. He's just a very happy go lucky guy who is friends with everyone. He reminds me of my BIL who's from there. And when confronted they snap back a little but aren't mad about it. Its more a of a need to find out whats they guys problem is or why he things that way. Once they find out they move on.
  18. Last year Beck was offered several other HC and OC jobs after producing a very very good offense. I think this year it the whole offensive staff as a whole more than earned their keep with all the injuries. We can pretend all we want that we should have the 4th string as good as the 1st but thats just not true anywhere and we aren't liek the NFL where you can grab a guy off waivers and have very little drop off. Getting 8 wins this year was a very good effort. And yes I know it works both ways but if the ball bounces right we really should have been 1-2 games better. You compare that to other teams with similar injuries and they are happy if they were 8-4. Hell 8-4 at ATM (with the aid of an all world QB) and you get your pay bumped up to 5 million a year.
  19. Thanks Clyde. +1 It's shocking how much money Bama has to throw around. And a public school to boot. How is that? What you don't see in that Bama pay are the approx. 30 extra "consultants" and recruiting staff.
  20. We haven't traveled well since we got spanked in the Rose Bowl. But last year was pretty sad. I would guess this year would be close to the same.
  21. 1- No clue 2- Possibly the Hyatt but I don't know that 100%. It was alluded that was the place a person wanted to stay to be around other Nebraskans. I don't know if that meant the team was there or it had the alumni groups. 3 - If you buy tickets do it through UNL. You might pay a few dollars extra 10-20 per ticket but it helps us get better bowls in the future if they are purchased through the school allotments. There should be stubhub ones but thats an easy trip for GA fans so I would guess the price on them might be a touch higher up until game week. But just guessing on that.
  22. Yes. And he's had his interest looked at on at least one HC offer but I'm told it wasn't a good move. He has a good shot. He had a good offense last year and this year did good with a 2nd and 3rd string QB and offense killed by injury. Yes he had his bad moments but you look at the body of work over all and compare it to places with similar problems and we rated much better.
  23. Yeah. We have great fans that don't work against the to coaches. Its all in their heads. https://twitter.com/rfisher88/status/410129893134196736/photo/1/large

I am going to create a Twitter account and name it Buckeye Bob and tell Ohio State recruits that Urb is on the verge of a nervous breakdown after losing. That should get some kids to decommit.

Well the guys only "friends" on FB are Clinkscales and Pierson-El...so makes you think it has to be Pierson-El with Fisher....thankfully he has been very solid for quite awhile.

  24. I would think he's a lock to redshirt - barring him being unquestionably the best we have (unlikely given how much time he's had off and the other two being around quite a bit longer) or the other two getting hurt (/knocking on every piece of wood available). I wouldn't mind bringing someone else in as well but we're starting to get a little short on schollys and I'm not sure if we have an in with any decent prospects now - although we did check in on Flowers again from the sounds of it. Every QB with a Nebraska offer has already committed, so if we are looking, we might have to roll the dice on a JUCO or an under-the-radar HS QB (which I don't see helping our immediate QB competition next year). Flowers would be another interesting option, if Beck can get him to decommit from South Florida again. I was told I'd be surprised at who we are sitting good with and we might see another QB in the class here shortly.
  25. Not an insider but I haven't heard good things about Charles Jackson returning.. Take this worth a grain of salt. Tried to do some checking here. Sounds like they still plan to have him. I was told they want to move him and need him at CB. But...who knows. I know he was frustrated so maybe he didn't like the idea of not playing safety.
